Stop: 3 hours - Admission included
Firstly you will meet your guide at the Admiralty MTR station Exit A (next to McDonald) then set off on your 2.5-hours walking tour in the Admiralty and Central area of Hong Kong. The time will be allocated into the following sties and topics: The first 1.5-hours will be our story on how Hong Kong got here and where it may be going. Specifically: 1. Central Government Complex - China promised a democratic progression in our constitution but why did it not happened in 2017? What is Umbrella Movement and why it became the most sensitive topic in Hong Kong now? 2. Tamar Park - How the British colonized Hong Kong and what happened to Hong Kong after 1898? Why is the handover of Hong Kong is on 1997 and was this a happy reunion between Hong Kong and China? 3. People's Liberation Army Building - What is One Country Two Systems and why China made this promise to Hong Kong? What happened after 1989 Tienanmen Square and where did all the Hong Kong people go? 4. City Hall - Japanese occupation in Hong Kong during Second World War. How did China convince the UK to return Hong Kong without a war between the two countries? 5. The Court of Final Appeal - Is there really a One Country Two Systems in Hong Kong? What is the ultimate tool the Beijing government uses to control Hong Kong? The remaining tour focuses on the development of the Central business district. Specifically: 1. The Feng Shui battle between HSBC and Bank of China - The most powerful bank in Hong Kong and its superstitious belief. Its Feng Shui war and competition against its neighbor, Bank of China. 2. Queen's Road Central - The original coastline of Hong Kong and how it evolved overtime. Why did the British chose to build the capital of Hong Kong in Central when it is so hilly and no land around? A comparison of modern day Hong Kong versus old Hong Kong.

First we were lucky that we were the only two people who showed - and that the tour did not get cancelled (they will be for a period due til the Coronavirus). Then we were lucky to have Shirley as our guide!
She might be young, but she has a really good knowledge about HK, the history, the protest and the way of life and an exellent ability to make her stories come alive and make them relevant for us. Also she answered all my questions readily.
It is not your usual highlight tour, even though they were included, but a tour that gave us so much more.
I cannot recommend this tour enough!

2h30min packed with interesting and relevant information! Thanks to the tour I now have a better understanding of Hong Kongs history and therefore the current situation ("Democratically" elected CEO, Corporate Interest Groups, people's frustration, ...) as well as the City's most famous buildings (nice little anecdotes that make you laugh and remember things easier). The guide even shared his own vivid family story to illustrate the Chinese - Hong Kong relations.
I appreciated the service provided!:) PS: they did not cancel the tour although we were only three people, which shows they really care about delivering their Hong Kong Story, profit second.

Really great and informative tour. Our guide Terry linked it to his own life which was extra special. A lot of information on the interesting relationship with China. Terry also provided insight about the ongoing protests and the reasons behind them.

Thanks SP for a great, informative tour. Good thing to do if you're new to Hong Kong and want to learn a little bit about the politics from a locals perspective. Not a sightseeing tour, but still very interesting.

Fabulous! The best thing we did in Hong Kong by far! Armie was an amazing guide, enthusiastic, informative and engaging, we loved hearing his epic personal stories! This tour gave us such an insight into the political and cultural history of Hong Kong and the current challenges it faces. Thank you, Armie, for an insightful and thought provoking perspective. Even my children 9 and 11 years old were captivated! We wish you much success!

SP was a considerate , interesting and knowledgeable guide. His introduction explained the political history of the island which gave a better understanding before we visited some of the buildings and then he also drew our attention to their architectural designs. All this was new information to most of us and something we wouldn’t have realised just by walking around by ourselves. We learnt a lot in an enjoyable way.

I went on this tour along with the Kowloon Free Walking Tour on the same day, back to back. I thoroughly enjoyed both. This tour focuses on the relationship between China and Hong Kong, their history, and the way it is today. This tour really is completely uncensored. Terry, our tour guide, answered all of our questions honestly and is incredibly knowledgeable. I enjoyed every stop and appreciate having learned so much about HK from a Hong Konger. This experience really defined my first trip to HK. My trip lasted only 3 days and I’m really glad that one of those days I spent on these tours.

Terry is very knowledgeable and his tour is super well organised. He will provide not only and good historical frame of HK and China, but also plenty of curiosities and useful information. The 2.5hours that it lasts just flew without realising. I strongly recommend this tour
