      Yummy!
Wonderful food tour with Sandy! She was very informative and the food was incredible. We went to many places we would not have experienced on our own! We had a 4 year old with us and Sandy was very accommodating for our needs like taking us to a fruit shop to try local fruits. Bonus was getting to see a temple and a wet market. The pineapple bun and the broth at sister wah were both incredible!

      Solo traveler food tour experience
As a solo traveler, I relish in these food tours because of: 1. How delicious they are 2. A chance to meet like-minded travelers. This was an amazing experience, delicious all the way through and I think the beef soup and the french toast were at the top of my list, although everything else is a close second. Do it, go on this tour!

We had a great few hours with Sandy during our food tour. She took us to a handful of local spots that we wouldn’t of dreamt of going in on our own terms, she is extremely knowledgeable and even took us to a few local cultural spots and educated us on Hong Kong traditions. Highly recommend!

Whether you are spending a 12 hour layover in Hong Kong or a couple of days visiting the city, this food tour is a must do. It's a great way to experience the city's food and culture and learn more about its history and traditions. We were lucky to have our guide, Siu Wai, take us through many delightful and interesting food and cultural spots and talk in detail about everything we asked. Visiting a local market gave us a lot of insight of the food scene too. I highly recommend both this tour and our guide.

The food was delicious and the perfect amount. All local places that we never would have gone without this tour. Michael the tour guide was exceptional. He went above and beyond the entire three hours. He was incredibly knowledgeable on Hong Kong and told us many stories about the history of the city and food. He even took us to a local temple. This experience was the highlight of my holiday and I would recommend it to anyone who visits.

Absolutely wonderful experience – Sandy, our Guide was exceptional. She took us to so many genuinely authentic food places and also told us so much about life and the culture in Hong Kong. She went above and beyond to make our trip extra special and memorable - the food we had was of excellent quality and large portions. Also, we loved visiting the food market and the temple amongst other things. We highly recommend this trip – great value for money with a wonderful guide.

I booked this tour directly with the company. I've been on many food tours but this was my first time with Secret Food Tours. My friend has gone on a few food tours with them in other cities and loved them. I will start with the positive- Our guide Sandy was very nice and we enjoyed seeing the city with her. She was by far the best part of the tour.

The most important part of a food tour is the food. I travel a lot and have been on food tours all over the world. I have never had such bad food before, especially for the hefty price of $104 pp (they charged a service fee)! I had a bad feeling when we sat down at the first restaurant- Sister Wah for brisket noodles and every single table was full of tourists. Our guide told us that the locals love this place and maybe, once upon a time, they did, but now it's 100% tourists. The brisket was okay (soft) but their "special broth" was salty to me and didn't taste at all special. Next stop was the goose, which was the best dish we had. Next we went to a fruit market and looked at all imported fruits. The sample we got was pear, not even Asian pear but regular pears that were soggy and not fresh. I threw most of it in the trash discreetly. We then went to dim sum at Fortune Cuisine. I would highly recommend this place to all of my worst enemies because this was the most awful dim sum I've ever had in my life, in and outside of Asia. The har gow skin was thick/dense and so sticky it all stuck to my chopsticks. The chicken feet was tough, like old beef. The char siu bao had very little filling and it was too sweet. I asked for the sandy buns (runny egg yolk inside) and it was all dough, chewy dough at that. We also had sesame buns and it was thick, chewy and flavorless. My plate was fully of unfinished food items. I would've taken a photo of it except I think I was too shocked by how bad the food was. Unless you've never had dim sum in your life, there's no way anyone could think this food is good. We finished off with toast (good) and hong kong milk tea (not good). I still cannot believe that I paid $104 to trek around in high humidity heat to eat such bad food. I could've just gone to a wanton place for $10 and had better food. I feel like this tour is geared towards non-Asians with no knowledge of Asian food or people who don't know how to eat good food. I know that times our tough and everyone is trying to make a living, but that is no excuse for organizing a FOOD tour with HORRIBLE food. I want my $104 and 3 hours of my life back that I wasted.

Thank you for sharing your detailed comments about your experience on our food tour. It's our regret that our selections did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your honest critique. Firstly, we’re pleased that you enjoyed your journey with Sandy and found her to be a highlight of your experience. Our guides are passionate about sharing the local culture and sights, and it's wonderful that this aspect of the tour met your expectations. However, it’s very disappointing that our food offerings fell short, especially since our goal has always been to provide an authentic and enjoyable culinary experience. We carefully select our stops based on positive feedback from locals and our guests - aiming to offer a mix of traditional and popular foods. Sister Wah, Fortune Cuisine, and the other stops typically receive rave reviews for their dishes, which makes it particularly concerning that this was not your experience. We do understand that tastes are subjective and that expectations can vary widely, especially for seasoned travelers like yourself. It's clear from your comments that we missed the mark in this instance. We'll be reviewing your points in detail with our team and food partners to address these issues and ensure that we are meeting the high standards we set for ourselves. Having said this, it's important to us that every guest leaves our tours satisfied, and our team takes your comments positively. While we cannot change the past, we value your insights as an opportunity to refine our food tours. Thank you again for your feedback and for joining us. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour in the future, perhaps in one of our other 60+ cities worldwide, where you can discover more culinary delights. If you’d like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@secrettours.com.

Ms Hung was fantastic, she was very knowlegable and accomodating. Made us feel welcome immediately and was so much fun. You could tell she loved what she was doing and genuinely wanted us to have a good time while she guided our experience. We were taken to places that reflected the cultural experience that we were searching for and wouldn't have found on our own. Like everyone, time is of the essence when you are on holidays and this experience really helped us tick off some 'holiday goals' plus more that we didn't foresee. The food choices were perfect as an introduction to HK life, traditions and cuisine.

I would recommend Ms Hung to any of my friends who were interested in travelling to Hong Kong. Thanks Ms Hung!!

Siu Wai was an excellent guide and created a packed agenda with so much delicious food, culturally interesting stops, and tons of information. I really enjoyed getting to try local places that otherwise as a tourist may have been intimidating. Siu also provided a lot of recommendations for other restaurants that we enjoyed during our stay in Hong Kong. Come hungry!!

My son and I took this tour yesterday and we had a wonderful day. Siu Wai (Sandy) our tour guide really made the tour special.
We ate some wonderful food at a several local stops from beef noodles, BBQ Goose thru to Dim Sum.
Sandy also took time to explain many features of everyday life whilst we wandered thru the district. A stop at a local wet market and a temple was also very interesting.
I would definitely recommend this tour to people who love to try local food and also see and learn about everyday life of Hong Kongers!! As I said our guide Sandy went out of her way to ensure that we had a good time and was happy to answer any questions we had.
    Well worth doing 👍

We loved our Secret Food tour in Tin Hau Hong Kong with Sandy (Siu Wai). The food was delicious and varied, a great and well rounded sampling of deliciousness! The tour exceeded our expectations as it went beyond food and included a snapshot of the day in the life of ordinary people, their history, culture, and society. After just a short 3 hours, we felt like we had been provided with more depth of Hong Kong than possible given the short timeframe. Sandy's comprehensive coverage of the history of Hong Kong along with the curated tastings set the bar for our next food/history tour! We can't recommend her enough!

This is a “must do” for anyone visiting Hong Kong. Our guide Siu Wai (Sandy) led us on a wonderful tasting tour through the dynamic Tin Hau district on Hong Kong island. She crafted the tour from a local’s perspective and not only was the food incredible, but the way she intertwined the history and culture of each dish was truly fascinating. Don’t miss this great tour option on your next trip.

Sandy was a fantastic guide with a wealth of knowledge and showed me around all of the top food spots in Hong Kong. The food was fantastic and Sandy told provided the history and traditions behind each dish. In addition, we visited some cultural sites and Sandy was able to answer any questions I had about the food and general life in Hong Kong. I definitely recommend this experience to anybody who is looking for a deeper insight into Hong Kong's rich food culture. Make sure to come with an empty stomach as you will be having a lot of food!
