- A-6FA0 contributionsFABULOUS TOUR WITH JACKY W.Jacky was an absolutely fabulous guide. He was very easy to understand, articulate, and highly experienced...knowledgeable in all aspects of life in Hong Kong. He completely personalized our tour to include multiple cultural and culinary highlights, and I cannot endorse him strongly enough. During a 19-day cruise when we booked multiple private tours, his was our very best.Written 13 February 2025
- LaiY6180 contributionsInsightful Macau tourOur family tour for 9 with two elderly members was carried out like a professional mission. As my in laws are elderly, we had to make use of a wheelchair. Jacky and team were able to navigate the crowded narrow streets of Macau, allowing all members of our family to experience the historic sites of Macau. His historic insight gave the sites the context needed for us to appreciate Macau. He was engaging to all the members and arranged a wonderful lunch for us to enjoy the local cuisine. We would highly recommend his team for any groups wanting a tour.Written 7 February 2025

It was an exceptionally nice day in HK, we would like to thank him again. You can count yourselves very lucky with this guide, Hans made this day unforgettable! We saw a lot and also tasted a lot of delicacies. We hope that many more travelers will enjoy it.Written 6 February 2025

- mariarR4624XH0 contributionsAn awesome, "rockstar"-quality tour guide. We are a family of 6 ranging in age from 18-60. We could not have asked for a better guide than Jacky. Of course he was full of knowledge about the history and modern day life in Hong Kong, and we definitely tested him! But even more important for us, he connected to each one of us, welcoming our personal questions and opinions, and always seeming to provide a thoughtful and thorough response... I don't know many people who can do that equally well with an 18 year old and a 60 year old. His itinerary was a perfect balance of all we hoped to learn and understand about Hong Kong, including the history, government, economy, architecture, "natives," ex-pats, "neighbors," education, military, nightlife, culture and food. Jacky has a great, dry sense of humor, and a very likeable disposition. We all genuinely enjoyed spending time with him and all walked away feeling very knowledgeable about a world we previously knew nothing about.Written 13 January 2025

- F1412ORmiriamb0 contributionsLantau Island, Big Buddha tourWe booked the Lantau Island and Big Buddha tour with Jacky from This is Asia Tours. From the beginning, Jacky was extremely responsive and answered all of my questions. The day before the tour, our guide, Liz contacted me to check in. She and the driver met us at the Hong Kong port and off we went on an amazing journey of Lantau Island, Big Buddha and Tai O fishing village. We absolutely loved Liz. She was extremely knowledgeable , a super conversationalist, and just full of personality. She was fun, caring and just made the tour so delightful. She made us feel like part of her family. I highly recommend Liz and This is Asia Tours when you come to Hong Kong.Written 19 October 2024

We had excess time between Cruise end (AM) in Hong Kong and return flight home to Sydney, Australia (PM). We found Asia Private Tours online and liked the reviews so decided to contact Jacky to organize a 5hr tour. As we had already done 2 cruise excursions of HK, Jacky suggested we do Lantau Isl and put together an itinerary for us to review. Not only did we find the process with Jacky easy and without stress (end of a 15 cruise), the whole process was seemless and without fault from pickup at Cruise Terminal to drop off at HK Airport terminal. Linda (guide) and Henry (driver) were professional yet very friendly and knowledgeable, we got to experience places that were not on offer during cruise excursions, they allowed us the time to 'take our time' and we were not rushed. We would thoroughly recommend that if you have 'time to kill' in HK, that you get in touch with Jacky at Asia Private Tours!

5 of us did a full loop on Lantau to Tai O and the Big Buddha with Jacky. It was executed perfectly from great communication prior and exacting pick up instructions. Jacky did a great job of explaining everything along the way about what we were seeing and why it was there, which helps kids and adults remember what they are seeing. It felt like we had a fast pass to everything and were a exactly the right place at the right time and with a small group we could spend more time looking at everything because there was no wasted time waiting and we got to hop out a few times just to see interesting things along the way. I think this was particularly helpful in Tai O where you are getting a look into people's lives and less people makes a big difference. Even photo assistance and follow up was spot on. Couldn't imagine anything that could have made it a better experience.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 hour tour with expert tour guide Jacky Wong, one of 4 days of tours we experienced with him. We started in the unique Tai O fishing village, which certainly proved to be the highlight of the day. We saw how fishermen as they retired placed their boats onto stilts above the water, insulated them and sided them with tin, and then turned them into their homes. From there we took a 10-minute drive to the Giant Buddha which was designed in the 1970’s and built in the 1990’s sitting proudly atop a hill overlooking a beautiful landscape. Our concerns of walking up and down the 252 steps to reach the Giant Buddha, the management of the site actually provided a car and driver to take us to the base of the Buddha! It made what could have been a physically challenging day a real pleasure! We would never have had this fantastic experience and seen so much in 5 hours if we had not decided to take the private tour with Jacky Wong!

On the way to Lantau, Jacky gave us an excellent overview of Hong Kong and about the historical development and mentality of the inhabitants of Hong Kong.
With a lot of serenity and always a mischievous smile he showed us the island and explained the sights perfectly even for non-native speakers.
What remains is a memory of a wonderful half day, which was also perfected by Jacky, since my wife is limited in walking, he adapted the program a bit and even found a way to reach directly to the big Buddha.
We are so excited that we will book another tour when we visit Hongkong next year, and we are sure that this is definitely a good decision.

Had a wonderful time on this tour. The communications up to the pick-up at our hotel was great and they even dropped us off at the cruise terminal afterwards. Linda was our tour guide and she did a wonderful job explaining everything and was a huge help to my disabled wife getting on and off the boat and getting through the market. The mini-van they used was luxurious and the driver was a good one. Highly recommend this tour.

Ashley was a superb guide, so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Japan and we learned a lot from her that day. A lovely walk through the fishing village of Tai O with a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. Then a fascinating trip to Big Buddha and the museum inside which Ashley brought to life with her explanation of the paintings and information about Chinese characters and language history. She was the perfect guide and we felt privileged to have spent the day with her.

We loved our Lantau Island tour with Jacky, who is a wonderful and very engaging guide - he picked us from our hotel and drove us all around Lantau through the backroads, visiting the large reservoir, the Tai O fishing village, and the Big Buddha/Po Lin Monastery before taking the cable car and ending at the airport for our onward flight. It is possible to visit these places on your own, but it would take a lot of planning and time, so Jacky was worth every penny. He is an expert in all things Lantau and Hong Kong, and it was a very fun and worthwhile tour!

This was the second consecutive day we toured with Jacky Wong. The day before we did a walking tour of Hong Kong (see separate review). We are a family of 6 ranging in age from 18-60 years old, each with our own preferences and interests. The Lantau driving tour was the perfect follow up from our previous city tour. We visited a fishing village, magnificent temples, beautiful beaches and the giant Buddha. Jacky continued to be the tour guide extraordinaire, engaging all of us with his knowledge of every site's history and significance in the local culture. By the end of the tour, we all agreed that we could not have wished for a better guide to show us in and around Hong Kong. Jacky left us all with valuable insights and a thorough understanding of what Hong Kong, Lantau and everything in-between are all about. We could not recommend him more highly.

Jacky is a fantastic guide, provided great insight at a family friendly leisure pace. He also speaks perfect English, Don’t be fooled by other tours where it’s difficult at times to understand the guide. Highly
recommended and our only regret is not booking him for all our other tours.

Pros of this tour: travel in an air conditioned van on a very hot day, restricted road access to sites, and taking us straight to the Tai O village and Big Buddha very convenient. Cons- we weren’t fans of our tour guide, Jacky. Maybe its because we had 3 other tours on this vacation that were amazing and the tour guides so personable and accommodating, but Jacky did not reach out in advance and confirm pickup location and time. I emailed with no response and then called the night before to find out what time to be ready. Other tours provided chilled water waiting for us, he had water but was very warm. we felt like he was “phoning it in”, as in he was just checking the boxes. Other tour guides really engaged us and the kids, and matched our pace and interested. With this tour we felt like we were on a big bus tour, and pushed on his schedule. We enjoyed seeing the fishing village a lot, it was very interesting to learn about local customs. The history or Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastary was worth seeing. Overall good tour, but not a favorite.

I am thinking about traveling to January with my 6 year old son. Why is this tour accessible to children? and what would its cost be for a child?

We booked this tour while in Hong Kong and were quoted Hong Kong dollars, yet billed US dollars. Immediately realized and cancelled. We were told we couldn’t cancel because we were not within 3 days. Cannot find anyone to talk to and filed a claim with our bank.

We will be arriving in Hong Kong early morning of January 5, 2019 from our cruise. The ship docks at 7:00 a.m. We would like a private tour of Hong Kong, or maybe Lantau, not sure, but we need to be at the airport by 1:30 as our plane leaves at 4:30. We will have luggage,of course. Can you tell me if you pick up at the ship and then end at the airport? And how much would this cost? 5 hours would be maximum time, I think, depending on when we are picked up. Thank you, Barbara
Written 24 August 2018
Thank you so much. The price quoted in the advertisement was actually more money than what the ship quoted us--so we booked through the ship. I appreciate your response.
