Wonderful Food Tour
Jan 2020
Our guide Carrie met us at the entrance to a subway in the Sham Shui Po area and took us on a very interesting and quite delicious food tour. She knows the area well and obviously enjoys sharing her knowledge. We had straight from the oven pineapple bun (it melts in your mouth), then long white rice rolls with a variety of seasonings (like white rolled up pasta but better), then freshly made tofu pudding. I normally don't eat tofu but this was like a thin yougert in ginger juice and tasty. We then tried two different dumplings - pork/cabbage and pork/watercress both of which were good most likely due to the presence of lard in the meat mixture. We got to go to the back of the Eight Angels bakery to meet the owner and try several crunchy cookies - yum! The last stop was the only bust in my opinion but a must for locals who enjoy fish soup with shrimp roe - way too fishy for my tastes. During the entire tour we were wandering in and out of different markets selling all manner of interesting items. Do not miss this tour!

Another side of Hong Kong
Mar 2020
My husband and I were so pleased to be able to find a food tour that was still going ahead whilst much of Hong Kong life was significantly curtailed because of Coronavirus precautions.

Our guide Yammy was charming and well informed and guided us round the Sham Shui Po district of Hong Kong, far removed from the glitzy skyscrapers and malls of that typify Hong Kong's wealthier areas.

We ate in cafés frequented by ordinary Hong Kong people and had a real insight into how people shop and eat during their daily lives.

Safely back home now and have been inspired to find a recipe for Pineapple Buns (so delicious!) that I'll be making for tomorrow's breakfast.

A great guide to some local eats in HK
Jan 2020
Loved this tour! We had some free time in Hong Kong after our China tour ended and we wanted a guide to the local eats. This tour was an excellent choice! We had such a wide range of foods to sample, never too much to fill us before it ended. We were also guided through markets and we were told how the locals live, work and shop.
We were given a booklet to review what we had eaten, in case we wanted to order it again. Thank you very much for a great experience!

Great Sham Shui Po food tour
Jan 2020 • Friends
Had so much fun exploring a new area with Carrie. She made us feel right at home in her home District. Don’t know if I’ve ever had a guide so knowledgeable about food, culture, and daily life. I would take this tour again and will visit the places she showed us.

Carrie is a passionate tour guide providing insights and color
This tour is far, far more than just a tasting tour. It is a cultural tour of a neighborhood by someone with a real passion for her culture AND food. Carrie was an excellent guide and made our HK trip extremely memorable. Very glad that we did this. Highly professional, well organized, even providing a map so you could re-walk the trip later. Hong Kong, btw, is empty and you will be treated as a king in your hotel, so plan your visit. We had no issues.

If you’re a foodie ...!
This is THE Hong Kong local experience and our guide Carrie was awesome. When you enter truly local kitchens, you want to feel welcome but also not stand out or interrupt daily routines. Carrie had us dropping right into eateries and out with no fuss and incredible, fresh, delicious buns, dim sum, soups, deserts and treats, including quick kitchen tours to see chefs at work!

Don't Miss This!!
Nov 2019
On our recent trip to Hong Kong, my wife and I went on a Hong Kong Foodie Tour in Sham Shui Po. We won't be able to say enough good things in this space! It was a top notch experience from start to finish. Our guide, Carrie, was the perfect person to lead this tour. A true local and extremely knowledgable about the food and history of the area. All our tasting stops were delicious and informative. Not only did we get to see these places from a customer viewpoint, but we were invited into the kitchens and back operations to get a real viewpoint of how things worked. Never could you do this on your own. The market area we were taken through was amazing. Carrie delved into stores, giving us a true local perspective of what was there. Much of her input to foods were taught to her by her mother, who raised her family in the area. It was amazing. Never did we feel unsafe or unwelcome anywhere. And this is saying something, as the time of our visit was when the uprising and protests were happening in Hong Kong. One of our night time tours was actually cancelled due to recent tear gas use in the district. Carrie put a very realistic point of view to these issues and made us feel totally comfortable. We were in very good hands.
We have been on many food tours in many countries and found this one to be in the top few of all our experiences. We would recommend it highly. Both our guide and the tour operators took great care with us to ensure our safety in these unsettled times in Hong Kong. We can recommend this tour and the tour company very highly. Don't miss it!

Simply Fantastic
Oct 2019
I'm not really a foodie, but I loved this tour as you get so much more than the food. Hosted by the knowledgeable and amiable Kerry, this tour really did tick all the boxes: a great variety of food at local restaurants, friendly, open people to meet and talk with along the way, and many insights of cuisine and social life that stay with you long after the tour ends.
We went as a family, and the kids (aged 9-15) had just as much fun as the adults. Although some of the food was a bit too niche for the young ones, the cultural and societal insights that Kerry offered of local Sham Shui Po really impressed the kids and got them thinking.

The tour is also mostly suitable for vegetarians. Only the dumpling place had no veggie option (which was unfortunate because the dumplings were awesome).

We were in a group of eight, and a testament to how wonderful this tour was that we each had a different highlight as we talked about it back home.

Huge thanks to Kerry for this fantastic experience!

Such a brilliant tour
Sep 2019 • Couples
I'm not the type of person to usually go on group activities but our guide's wit, ease and intelligence made this a brilliant tour. Our guide Carrie gave us a deep insight into Hong Kong, as well as making brilliant choices in food, and made this tour something I'd 100% recommend to anyone. Really brilliant.
