About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- MFJHES0 contributionsA wonderful dive into the real life people of Hong Kong and their long history and cultureOur guide was excellent . Very knowledgeable and informative. Gave us a real insight to Kowloon and real Chinese culture. Utilized his knowledge of public transport system and knowledge of local markets used by every day residents of Hong Kong . Sampled food that locals relishWritten 11 December 2024
- Inspire7974260 contributionsCheck the pricing carefully before you book.We had an amazing day with our guide Alfred who was very knowledgeable and attentive and made the trip very enjoyable. Lantau is definitely worth a trip if you are in Hong Kong. The Big Buddha is a wonder, and the trip to Shek-O was also very interesting. Alfred showed us some different temples and explained the different religions and beliefs in detail. He also took lots of photos for us. Lunch was very good too. Our only issue was the listing, which we found misleading. We booked when we were already in Hong Kong so assumed that the price shown was in HK dollars, however it was actually in US dollars which we only realised when the cost appeared on our bank statement. Since we were in Hong Kong when we booked, and are UK based it never occurred to us that the price would be in US dollars, and the listing didn't show this - it just showed the dollar sign, not which dollars we would be paying. This made the cost a lot more than we had anticipated. Having said that, we had a great day, and would definitely recommend Alfred as a guide.Written 10 December 2024
- Locococomama0 contributionsNoodles were the highlight. This tour was OK and the noodles outstanding, but out of the 4 food tours we did in China/Hong Kong, this was our least favorite. Some of the food options were not our favorite and the cost verses the amount of food was not comparable to other tours we did. Getting to know a different side of Hong Kong was great.Written 7 December 2024

- 370timothyj0 contributionsA highlight of our trip to Hong Kong!We had such a fun experience with Ivy! No one else joined our group so it was just the three of us. Our host, Ivy, was super nice and personable. It felt more like friends hanging out than us as customers and her as our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history of many restaurants and foods. We loved every place we ate at! Such a great variety to really highlight Hong Kong food culture. Would definitely recommend!Written 25 November 2024
- J5985CLsarahm0 contributionsNice evening in KowloonWe did this tour with Kiyo and he was great! It was a nice way to get a taste of Kowloon both the environment and the food! He was very informative, had a good pace to the tour and made it enjoyable. Would recommend!Written 24 November 2024
- BJC650 contributionsGreat food tourHave just completed the food tour with our guide Mel, we have had an absolutely great time. Mel was a great host taking us in to eating house we would not have had the courage to enter. The food has been superb. Mel also gave us information on the history of the area and the products being sold. Our only regret was we didn’t do this earlier in our stay. Highly recommend this tour.Written 22 November 2024
- kimchipapa0 contributionsExcellent first-time experience in Hong Kong!We had an excellent tour with Sinclair! He was very knowledgeable and shared many historical tidbits and stories around the food and culture in Hong Kong. The food was great, and we were able to see and experience parts of Hong Kong that would have been difficult as first time visitors. Highly recommended!Written 20 November 2024

- ericwE3577RX0 contributionsIncredible experience exploring Sham Shui Po with MelThis is a can't miss tour if you have an opportunity in Hong Kong. While there is amazing food throughout this great city, this tour allows you to experience some delicious and varied food while exploring a section of the city that is somewhat less accessible to many visitors. The variety of foods to try is incredible! Mel was a terrific guide who was thoughtful, knowledgable and engaging. Plus you may see him in the movies from time to time. This is a terrific way to spend 4 hours in Hong Kong. We are already planning on bring our children for another tour with Mel!Written 16 November 2024

Ryan was a great host. He tailored our walking tour of Hong Kong to meet our needs and wasn't stumped by any of our questions about Hong Kong's politics and history. He showed us some popular sites, markets, great places to eat at good prices, and how to get around the city on public transport. After half a day with him we felt extremely comfortable and confident about getting around during the rest of our stay. Afterwards he shared photos and more information about other things for us to do. Great communication before and after. Certainly not a cheap thing to do if you are just as a couple as we were, but if you can afford it I would highly recommend it!!

Mel was terrific. A very nice guy and very knowledgeable. He took us to the Hong Kong behind the tourist spots to give us a flavor of the people and the vitality of the city. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend both Hello Hong Kong and Mel. Also took us to a great lunch which we would have never found on our own.

On our first of five days in Hong Kong, our guide Agnes showed us and told us about so many things to do and places to see. Hong Kong is like three Manhattans, which we love, and we are excited to follow up on Agnes's many suggestions. Plus, she is a charming young lady who was a pleasure to interact with, and her English is superb.

We had an excellent tour with Kiyo. Although the rain changed some of the sites we were going to see, Kiyo adjusted the itinerary and we still felt like we made the most of the time we had. We learned so much, saw a lot and experienced the culture.

My husband and I did a five hour private tour of Hong Kong with Mel and loved it! We were asked in advance if there were any specific things we wanted to do, but it was our first visit so we left it up to him. He picked us up at our hotel and shared the history of Hong Kong and took us to so many interesting places, including Victoria Peak. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant that was delicious! The public transportation was included in the price, but we paid for entrance fees, taxis, and food. It was worth every penny! Mel speaks excellent English and was very knowledgeable about Hong Kong history. Highly recommend!

We were only in HK for 28 hours, so we booked this tour to get the most out of our time. Our guide was Ryan and he was excellent. He arrived on time for our tour, explained what we would be doing and asked if there was anything else we'd like to add. It was so customized to our needs. We took the boat, tram, subway, ding ding, etc. We ate local delicacies, learned about history and saw some amazing sights. It was the absolute best use of our time and I highly recommend the tour. Thank you so much Ryan for making our time in Hong Kong memorable!

My husband and I did a half day layover tour with Mel. He was a wonderful guide and gave us great information about the history and culture of Hong Kong. The visit to Victoria Peak is a must, with a beautiful panorama view of the city. We also squeezed in lunch at a Michelin star dim sum restaurant, Tim Ho Wan. Overall, I highly recommend Hello Hong Kong.

We had a whirlwind tour with our guide Alfred who is full of energy and knowledge about Hong Kong. We covered a lot of ground in 4 hours, learned how to get around with the subway, had a great lunch, and saw several sites we probably would have missed had it not been for Alfred. It was our first time in Hong Kong and this tour was the perfect introduction for us.

When I go through the process of determining the price of the private custom tour it seems to always spike up from $64.51 to well over $100 per person. I don't understand why the gap is so great. Perhaps the low price does exist I just can't ever seem to find it. Maybe the time I am trying to book is a high demand time? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Written 11 March 2019
It is based on how many people are getting the tour. If you are traveling in a small group, it will be cheaper person than if there are only one or two of you.
