The hop on hop off bus was great. We bought the 2 day option and we managed to really see the city well with stops at the major sights as well as the buses being quite regular. They were clean and well maintained. A definite must if you are short of time and even when not like in our case as we could then highlight and choose which sights we wanted to come back and visit in depth.

We purchased two De Luxe tickets because we wanted to fit in as much as possible in the two days we had available in Hong Kong. The night tour and Sampan ride were great fun. Our only disappointment was the market at Stanley which we felt was over hyped in order to boost tourism in southern Hong Kong Island. Our shopping time would have been much better spent at the markets on Temple Street in Kowloon.

What a great way to spend a 15 hour lay over in Hong Kong!
We stopped in Hong Kong on our way to Vietnam. And I'm so glad that we did.
Hong Kong is such an awesome place, even from the little bit that I experienced (can't wait to come and visit Hong Kong specifically) we did the one tours of the Old Town Central tour with a Peak Tram Sky Pass.
It was really a great way to be able to explore and learn about the city. The audio is very detailed and informative and the stops are awesome!

Luckily the Big Bus Sightseeing starting point is right by the IFC Mall which is connected to the International airport by train, so it makes it the perfect activity to do, and the easiest way to explore a city you haven't really done much research on.

Definitely worth doing while in Hong Kong, especially during a long lay over from the airport.

We purchased tickets from a Big Bus sales lady by the ferry and she was very helpful.
We crossed on the ferry and due to lack of signage missed the bus and had to wait another 45 minutes for the next one.
Once we boarded the bus the driver must have been an ex formula 1 driver which was no mean feat around the streets.
Our biggest problem was trying to locate the hop on hop off points, the pamphlet wasn’t that helpful and there’s no signage all they have is a small portable sign on the sidewalk.
When we finally found it we met lots of other passengers that had the same experience.😡

Compared to other city tours I have done, this was poor. Infrequent buses with lots of waiting around and one bus route out of three each day didn't operate. Better and much cheaper to use public transport.

While not cheap this is a good way to see quite a distance in hong kong. There are 3 routes - kowloon, hong kong island and stanley. The stanley route is definately worthwhile as you see a completely side to hong kong. The service is not a great hop on/hop off service as buses only run every 45 to 60 minutes and when you get back to the beginning the bus sits for at least half an hour before commencing again. Best to think of as 3 tours. You can use their app to track where buses are but we never use our data whilst travelling and rely on free wi-fi

Taking an extended lay over in Hong Kong provided an opportunity to taste the culture and experience Hong Kong . Despite the protests taking place, the sight seeing busses provided a safe and informative tour. The tour busses need to keep pace wth traffic and this results in glimpses of some of the sights however there is ample ability to hop off and wa about. The Staff are able to suggest the best tour to take and schedule to catch the next bus. The Star Ferry connects well with the Red, Blue and Green lines - we took the cable car up the mountain and toured Stanley market. This was great value and allowed me to get some great photos.

Really likes the tour. Just had 3 days in HK back in November and took the bus to get an idea of the city and its spirit. Enjoyed everything! Thanks!

One comment: Could you tell me the soundtrack of the bus? In particular the traditional accoustic song that reminded me of a martial arts/fight movie?

Like many city tour buses, this is a familiar service and offered well organised and convenient routes. Its main hub at Pier 7 on the harbour front was also a quick stroll for us from our hotel and there are two routes (HK Island Tour and Aberdeen & Stanley Tour) that start and finish here. The third route on Kowloon can also be reached via the ferry boats at this pier also.

I bought our Deluxe tickets (there are cheaper Classic and Premium options also) from the GetYourGuide: Tour & Tickets app which offers cheaper deals than the sales people at the Pier.

Deluxe tickets give you 48 hours hop-on-hop-off on all three routes, ferry tickets to Kowloon for two return trips, Night tour of Kowloon, Walking tour of Hong Kong, Sampan trip around Aberdeen floating village and an option to either go up Victoria Peak or the observation deck at the ICC building on Kowloon. We paid £64 (HKD624) per person on the app as opposed to HGD730.

We used it solidly for two days and got a brilliant perspective of the whole place and saw far more than we've seen on previous visits.

My only criticism would be the night tour where the driver was pretty hopeless and drove past us at the stop, only finally stopping at a red light and letting us on board in the road as we ran after him!

Overall, great value and worth it.

Not knowing Hong Kong we did what we usually do and sort out the hop-on, hop-off bus. They wanted us to buy the two days, but we explained we had something else happening the next day. No worries, we could still pay the same price to include an extra day. The price also included priority tickets for boarding the tram up to the Peak. It was school holidays and the line-up was huge, but we were able to by-pass everyone with our tickets already paid. Also included in the Big Bus price were 6 tickets for the Star Ferry which took us back and forth across the Harbour each day. Such a saving! Great friendly service from Gordon and we thank him very much.
