The guide (Burak) spoke very good English this combined with his comprehensive knowledge about Gallipoli made the day very interesting. The driver (Murat) was amazing, it was rather long drive and with challenging traffic conditions but he's a very skilled driver and we felt at ease. Our hotel pickup was a breeze and even though we missed breakfast there was ample stops to grab a bite to eat, the lunch (provided) was a tasty meal and very nice all in all a great trip that was good value for money. Thanks Burak and Murat all the best boys.

We did the guided day trip to Gallipoli from Istanbul and had a great time! There was initial confusion and we missed the trip (we thought we were to go to Sultan Hostel meeting point when in fact the tour was doing a hotel pick-up.) However we were able to reschedule for free the next day. (Now we know always to email the local tour operator directly after booking via a third party site to confirm arrangements!)

It’s about 5 hours down to Eceabat in a minivan with a 30 minute stop halfway. We are used to long drives so didn’t find it hard. Just slept most of the way!

We met up with our tour group when we arrived and had lunch first (3 courses - very good!) Then we met our tour guide and did a very detailed trip of the Gallipoli sites! We stopped at lots of different points - Anzac Cove, Lone Pine, The Nek, 57th Memorial and finished at the top of Chunuk Bair (the Allies’ objective.)

Coming from the UK, we knew next to nothing about the Gallipoli campaign as we focus more on the western front and on WW2 in school so found this incredibly fascinating!

Would definitely recommend and the tour guide was excellent!

It is a long way to travel but well worth it for those wanting to visit this historic site of importance to ANZACs and Turks, particularly those interested in the history of WWI.

You really get a sense of the place that we have heard so much about and the human cost of war. There are over 77 cemeteries and memorials to both the ANZAC and Ottoman troops.

The memorial has been tastefully done, thank you to the Australian and other Governments responsible. We were informed that the ANZAC Governments pay for the upkeep.

FEZ travel were very professional from the time of booking to the end of the tour.

Our Guide Mohammed Mehmet (a common name) had perfect English and an excellent knowledge of history and was very accommodating.

We had a Mercedes Benz minibus in clean and good condition and the driver was very good and drove safely.

The restaurant was ok but not fancy by the banks of the Dardenelles Strait with a choice of meatballs or chicken. I liked the vegetable soup and fresh fruit the best.

The toilet stops were ok except the one near the Turkish cemetery. Take tissues with you for toilet paper and cash to pay for toilets (1 Turkish Lira each) and sundries at the stops or take snacks with you. It takes about 3 to 4 hours each way and stopped for a break once each way.

We were collected at 7am and didn’t return until 10pm so you really need the full day in Istanbul to do this tour.

Lest we forget.

I have given the tour company the opportunity to answer and make amends but all I got where platitudes. Hence please read and think long and hard using this company

1) the dinner restaurant was what I would call a low class cafe.   No one was eating in there which should have been the first warning sign. All the others who where on a tour went to another place just up the road I did ask why no real answer

2) the food was cold and the bread stale

3) the service terrible and we had to pay for water ! Really

4) we had not eaten all day so we are 100 percent sure is it gave my husband really bad food poisoning.   We eat different things so yes it was the food.

My husband has a heart condition and is kept alive by taking pills.  This food poisoning meant the loss of fuild both ends placed him at risk as he lost his medication when losing fluid.

The trip back was a nightmare.
We lost 2 days holiday and continued when got home

If you have bad joints be careful as in a 3 hour period we got out 17 times from a small van to visit the sites

Yes the trip was long but reading the reviews we knew that

The tour guide was enthusiastic but could not really answer our questions as his English was not good enough

The only positive was the driver was great and really understood how to drive around this part of Turkey

I booked a Gallipoli Day Trip from Istanbul with Fez Travel Day Tours, but the tour was actually run by Crowded House Private Day Tours based in Eceabat on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

After some challenges with the bus and a long ride out from Istanbul we arrived to a fairly simple but nice lunch in Eceabat. From there people disappeared off to the different tours, some to Gallipoli, some to Troy and other destinations.

We spent five hours visiting various sites involved in the Gallipoli campaign, but ANZAC and Turkish. Our guide Burak was brilliant - he knew his history and was also very entertaining and engaging. The tour provided ample opportunity to wander around and take photos of the sites.

It’s a long drive from/to Istanbul and it makes it a long day (take a book to read on the bus) but it’s worth it.

Getting to see the beaches and hills of Gallipoli was an amazing experience made all the more special by our guide, his knowledge of the the Gallipoli campaign left me knowing so much more about the area, the soldiers involved and how and where the battles took place. This was a amazing tour and I highly recommend it

It was a good trip from Istanbul. The tour guide and driver were good. For a start, the coordination was good. Pick up time at hotel was punctual. The guide did a very good explanation along the way, though we only visited the ANZAC cove area due to the one day trip. Certainly it was a pity as we could not make it to visit the southern tip area of the Gallipoli peninsula. However, it provided me a reasonable picture of the battle at this area (I have read about the battle before hand but nothing better than having to see it with your own eyes). The driver was a safe driver, he drove with care over long distance, not an easy task.

Gallioli Campaign was a defining moment in the history of Turkish nation, so I was very intrigued to visit the memorial. I was not disappointed. It was a great experience, thanks to our knowledgeable guide. The group was small enough.
My buddies were hesitant in the beginning but I insisted them to come along. They did not regret.

If you make yourself familiar with the history of this WW I battle, you will understand and mourn the loss of many Australian and New Zealand youthful soldiers. Such a well done memorial to this tragic situation and poor leadership by the senior military leaders.
