I DID ALL 3 MENUS!!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN <3
I completed all 3 menus!!! After going the first time I had to squeeze in the chance to experience it all again before my flight home. It was a great experience. The team is great, quick and organised in providing a smooth but fun and engaging experience. I highly recommend. Thank you so much everyone. :)

        Great experience which helps locals.
We were greeted by our host who explained a bit about the different menus and then we set out to the market. We got to see local veggies and the spice shop, where we got the opportunity to buy some. After heading back to the cooking school we cracked on with making 4 dishes. They have 3 different menu options to choose from. Our host was lovely, explains everything very clearly and gives you a good insight into Nepali gastronomy. More importantly Nepal Cooking School is a charity which helps young people access education, so it’s for a great cause. Would recommend it 100%!!!

Excellent Class & so much fun.
We LOVED this class. The instructor was great & took us spice shopping before we started cooking. We absolutely loved everything we made & I’ve been a momo making machine since I got home. We recommend this class to everyone.

I did the 3h/4 dishes class and I loved it ! Good food, nice staff, reasonnable price, place was clean and well organised. You get all the recipes afterwards to try it at home. We had the chatamari, dal bhat, chicken curry and chocolate momos. Would totally recommend it.

Excellent introduction to cooking in Nepal!
Reecha did a fantastic job introducing us to various vegetables at the market before class. She thoroughly explained everything cooking thukpa, bara, vegetable mo mo and carrot pudding for dessert. We had so much fun learning about Nepali cooking with her. They send you all of the recipes in your email afterwards. The only problem I had was I had to ask my tour guide numerous times to be able to get the recipes in email after I left Nepal or I wouldn’t have them. Hopefully, they will pay more attention in the future to provide this to others without having to request a copy numerous times as they tell you they will do before you leave and they confirm your email address. I highly recommend this when in Kathmandu!

        Great experience
We attended the 4-course cooking class. The class included a visit to the spice shop. The cooking class was extremely well organised. The instructor and the assistants were very knowledgeable and helpful. They managed to keep an eye on everything so that nothing burned despite the whole group cooking simultaneously :) After the class, we received a recipe book by email and can't wait to try the recipes at home!

Wonderful experience for a Sola female traveller!
I had a lovely experience and learned so much! I learned how to prepare and cook a 4 course menu (thupka, Bara, Momo's and pudding). There were many courses to choose from. The market visit and learning about the spices was especially fun. Highly recommend this class to anyone from beginner to experienced cooks! 🤗

Whilst we enjoyed cooking all of our 4 courses (chatmari, dal bhat, chicken curry, chocolate momos), we couldn't help but feel that the cooking course felt rushed. We had a 4:30pm session which finished at 6:30pm (despite their website stating that it would take 3 hours 30 mins!). The host was good at explaining each step, but more time to enjoy eating the food would have been appreciated.

Additionally, we felt that the sale of the spices for 5,000 rupees was quite pushy! It had been mentioned several times whilst going to the market, and we could sense that the host was disappointed that we were not interested in buying the spices (we were flying home the following day and had tight luggage weight restrictions!). 5,000 rupees also seemed expensive for what was being offered!

After noting a sense of tone after we said no to the spices, we also noted that we were offered no change from our payment. We would have likely tipped more than this discrepancy if we hadn't have felt rushed and pressured throughout the cooking course.

Apart from the experience described above, we did enjoy cooking a variety of dishes. The session worked well with having a host as well as a chef to help guide us, finish off any preparations and to clean up as we went along. The recipe book, which was emailed to us the day after the class, included lots of different recipes that we are excited to try cooking at home.

The OK and the less good. The advertisement said that we would go to the market and learn about buying the right food for the cooking lesson. We would walk there and take a rickshaw back. The "market" turned out to be a local store a few minutes away. The cook gave the women in the store a shopping list and within a few minutes she walked away with a small bag of an assortment of vegetables. There was no learning about the foods in the local market. There was no rickshaw back. There was a brief visit to a spice shop which was a not too subtle way of trying to get me to buy spices, again with no learning experience. This all was the less good.

The actual cooking lessons were OK. The cook was very nice, though the cooking itself was very basic. Overall, I enjoyed the session but they should cut out the sales pitches for tips which was intertwined within and the market visit which was not a market visit.

The class was very easy to find and the two women were really kind. We made our way to the market were she showed us different vegetables and their use. But since they already had all the vegis we didn’t really had to get any ingredients. After that we went into a spice shop where we could smell the different spices and buy some for ourself. After that we got a cup of tea and then we started cooking. Since we were only 2 it went smooth. The class was very interesting but we were done by 11 am so 2 hours too early. Also for the price we paid the amount of food (it wasn’t a stomach filling meal) or the level of preparation didn’t really fit but still it was a nice experience.

Fellow Everest Base Camp trekker David and I much enjoyed the class on June 1, cooking 4 courses, including dahl, Nepalese pancake, carrot cake and the famous momos, thanks to our friendly teacher. I bought the $50 bag of spices, about equivalent to the cost in Australia, but all ready to use at home with the recipes emailed later. Thank you!

Such a great experience! Nilam did such a great job about explaining the ingredients, why they're important, and where to get them if I want to make the dishes on my own in the future. The cooking process was easy to understand and repeat at home. I'm absolutely recommending this to friends who are passing through the area!

A great experience! I came with two friends when I moved to Kathmandu in July, and I was able to bring my Dad and Brother with me this time. I am grateful for an educational and fun experience that also benefits the young women who are working for the school. Can’t wait to send any more visitors to the class as well!

These three young ladies gave a very impressive and comprehensive cooking experience, despite the large group of participant. The ritmo was perfect, and I particularly liked the explanation about the spices used for cooking or in teas in this little shop in the middle of thamel, which exclusively sell teas and spices. I ended up going back there and load on teas and spices to bring back home, together with the knowledge of how to use them, thanks to this class!! Definitely a wonderful experience, in a lively and fun atmosphere, that I recommend 100%!!

The chef will walk you to a nearby market where you will shop for local ingredients which really adds a lot of fun to it.

The recipes are easy to understand, and very tasty. I couldn't recommend this more, just remember to come hungry because you will be making a lot of food.

What a fun activity! Our instructor, Nilam, was excellent. She took us shopping for ingredients, a rickshaw ride back, taught us all about the ingredients and what to do with them. If you like to cook, are just curious about the Nepalese food, or just need a change of pace from exploring, I would highly recommend this!

Very friendly and knowledgeable girl who speaks good English. The food was easy to make and tasted quite good, everything was clean. Take some more money if you want to buy the spices at the market to make the food at home. Since I was the only one that day I had private lessons for the same price.
