Pacaya Volcano Hiking Tour from Antigua
From US$100.00
If you’re planning to hike Pacaya Volcano, joining a guided tour is the safest and most fun way to do it. The 1.5-hour climb flies by as your guide tells you about the ecosystem en route to an awesome viewpoint over lava fields, and then a picnic lunch is included to fuel your trip back down. Your guide is trained in first-aid and super knowledgeable about the area, providing insight you would likely miss on your own.
What to Expect
Meet your guide in Antigua at 8am to grab some water and pick up any gear you might need before you drive to the trailhead, roughly a 1-hour trip by private transport. Once your guide pays the park entrance fees, get out of the car and start hiking up Pacaya Volcano.

As you hike, you might see dried lava fields, local wildlife, and volcanic landscapes. Stop to enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch near the caldera, and check out views of the nearby volcanoes Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango. If you’re lucky, you might find geothermal hot-spots still smoky enough to roast marshmallows!

Your tour concludes back in Antigua.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and local guide. Hike was just the right intensity for someone who doesn't work out regularly. Tasty and healthy lunch (guacamole!!) was made on the spot!
