we were 4 couples on time at designated area. and the driver or person was a no show. we were left looking at each other and wondering if we got scammed. other companies' staff were trying to help figuring things out but there were no answers. nobody knew anything. the phone number on our paperwork was someone's personal number and had no clue of what we were talking about. there was no one we could communicate are problem with at that time. our phones weren't working in Belize Mexico. we are expecting a demanding a refund. i guess some excursions are better booked thru the carnival cruise lines. i am hoping for a response from TripAdvisor for some answers . This wasn't right. no word yet..

Our guide, Tarique, was a fantastic host, incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We were lucky enough to be the only ones on our tour and nearly the only visitors at Altun Ha that morning, making it easy to step back in time and appreciate the beauty and history of the site. Beyond the tour of Altun Ha, Tarique stopped to buy us fresh sliced fruit and plantain chips, and offered us the chance to sample and buy local fruit wines, tamales, and freshly roasted cashews from roadside vendors. It was a great opportunity to get acquainted with Belizean food and culture. And upon learning we’d be catching the water taxi that afternoon, Tarique even took us directly to the dock and pointed out where to buy tickets and check our luggage.

Our guide was a native Belizean. Jeremy was very knowledgeable and knew the area well. I really enjoyed the hospitality and food.

We did the “Lamani mayan ruins and speedboat safari” through RCL and Exotic Shore Excursions (so I sure if related to this exact post). Started out with 1.5 hour bus trip on A/C bus through Belize city with guides giving us local information from RC and Coconut Pete. From there we got on a speedboat and traveled 20-30 minutes to the site - seeing cranes along the way. It was nesting season in July so no alligators were spotted. Once at the ruins, another guide took us on a hike to the temple. He did a great job telling us about the Mayans and why Lamani lasted longer than others. He share with us flint and told us about the games played by the Mayans etc. Do being bug spray and wet towels as it can be quite humid (90% our day!) and one lady had an allergic reaction to a bite she got (but the guides handled her situation like the pros they are). We had a brief holler monkey sighting. After the hike - around 1:00/1:30 (so plan accordingly if you like early lunch) a delicious meal of chicken, rice, potatoes salad and plantains. Then back on the speedboat and bus in reverse. A long 6 hour tour but so worth it.

Altun Ha Mayan ruin was amazing. Felipe our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Belize overall, and the Mayan ruins. We highly recommend him.

Our guide Tarique was fantastic. Very knowledgeable let us go at our own pace during the tour and was entertaining to our 9 and 5 year old grandchildren. He stopped along the way and let us taste local mangos, pineapples and cashews. Omar was very understanding and accommodating when our ship was a little late. I would highly recommend them

It didn’t last as long as we thought it would last. It may have been because we didn’t do any climbing and didn’t really shop at Altun Ha. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about everything Belize. The tour was very interesting and informative. The air condition in the vehicle was wonderful. We did get some water but no snacks. All in all I would recommend the tour to others.

Such a great tour! Totally personalized and basically got a 1:1 tour. Tarique was awesome! He really gave us some great insight into the local culture and was extremely knowledgeable about the ruins! He also bought us the most delicious mangoes I've ever eaten! Thank you for an amazing tour!

This was an amazing tour. Tariq was the best tour guide we've experienced. He was informative, timely, attentive, and made our group feel at home. The drive through the country was beautiful. We highly recommend the San Ignacio, Xunantunich Mayan Ruin, and Cave Tubing tour. I would do it all again! Thanks for making my family trip special.

Did this without a guide, and just took the smaller entrance off the hummingbird highway ($8 BZD pp). Beautiful spot for a dip to cool off. There are changing facilities there too if needed.

Great tour! Jermaine was our guide and he was excellent. He was friendly, patient, and super knowledgeable about Altun Ha and Mayan culture generally. It was fascinating to learn from him about what makes Altun Ha different from other sites. Beyond that, the whole experience was smooth. He picked us up from the water taxi dock and was easy to find with instructions provided by the tour company. After our time at Altun Ha, he took us back through Belize City and showed us some key landmarks, then dropped us back off at the dock. I’d highly recommend this!

Tariq is a rememberable, informative and experienced tour guide and we couldn't have been happier with him. He was very relatable as a local guide and his knowledge of Belizean history exceeded our expectations. He was able to cater to different ranges in athleticism for the hike up the ruins (my boyfriend and I are younger in our 30/40s and we were paired with one other older couple who also made it up as well). He made sure we all were okay as my boyfriend would wonder ahead and he made sure we had breaks in the shade. You can def tell he has been a guide for 12 years as he knew all the other local tour guides and street vendors at both sites. Our drive was quick and we had well enough AC to keep us comfortable to and from the sites. We got back to Belize city around 5/6pm - a perfect 9-10 hr day. Request Tariq if you have the chance!

Cycled to St Herman's Cave Park from my resort. The entrance fee is cheap, and well worth it. I saw howler monkeys and lots of other life in the jungle as wandered about. You can walk 200m into St Herman's Cave without a guide - top tip is to rent a flashlight at the entrance to the park, as phone torches aren't really up to the job. Cycled from there down to the Blue Hole for a lovely refreshing swim.

We booked 2 tours with Smart Travel Belize when we visited. One was the Zoo and the other was Lamanai Mayan Ruins. I really appreciated the professionalism, the availability of their folks to answer questions and the helpfulness to get around the country even if we weren’t touring with them. The experiences were wonderful! They do a good job preparing for the trips, are in communication, and go out of their way to ensure their customers have a great time. Very knowledgeable and warm. Highly recommend them!

Tarik was awesome. Very informative tour about Belize and the Mayan Ruins. He definitely is passionate about his job and his country. He made the experience incredible. Would definitely recommend the tour to anyone.
