Auschwitz was established in 1940 It was the biggest Nazi concentration camp for Poles and prisoners from other countries. They were condemned by the Hitlerite fascism to isolation and slow extermination by hunger, exhausting work, criminal experiments, or to a quick death as a result of individual and mass executions. A place definitely worth seeing.
  • Explore Auschwitz I and Birkenau at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum
  • Hear a guide give historical facts clearly with a provided headset
  • No need to rent a car—round-trip transport from Krakow is included
  • Travel comfortably in a minivan with a small group limited to eight
What to Expect
This Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum tour picks you up from your hotel early in the morning. Hop aboard a comfortable minivan limited to eight people. On board, you can take advantage of the free Wi-Fi and watch a Holocaust documentary, if it’s available at the time. Once you arrive at the museum, follow a guide around both Auschwitz I and Birkenau (Auschwitz II) as you see the former roads, watchtowers, railway ramps, fences, crematoriums, and gas chambers. Your guide makes sure to tell you stories as you go through the exhibits and memorials, too. After your Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum tour, get back into your minivan for the ride to Krakow, and get dropped back at your hotel upon arrival.

Very well organised, pick up was even early! Told a week before the pick up time so could plan accordingly. The guide was excellent and the experience was second to none!

The driver was prompt and looked after us very well. There were 30 people in our group at the sites. My 78-year old mum has to walk carefully (with a stick), and we were constantly at the back of the group, often trying to catch...More

I already knew a lot about Auschwitz but learned so much more about it and the realisation of the enormous scale of this atrocity.

I think our guide said that you have to enter the camp before 09:00 or after 17:00 if you are not booked on an official guided tour. There are buses from Krakow but not sure what time they start in the morning.
