Overview
Even with just half a day to spare, get out of Kraków and visit one of Poland’s most cherished monuments on a guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Get picked up at your hotel for an easy journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll descend deep underground to explore a vast network of historic mining tunnels, saline lakes, and intricate salt sculptures carved over centuries.
What to Expect
After pickup at your Kraków hotel, travel for about an hour to reach Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world. With your included entrance fee, enter the mine and descend more than 200 steps into an expensive underground network. A guide will show you the way through a maze of tunnels, chambers, and stairways built over eight centuries.

Learn about the fascinating history of the mine and browse a collection of antique mining equipment that dates back to the Middle Ages. Breathe deep in the mine’s mineral-rich microclimate, which is thought to have health benefits, and admire detailed shrines and sculptures carved entirely from salt rock.

You’ll be dropped off at a convenient point in central Kraków after the tour. As a bonus, receive a free Kraków sightseeing audio guide when you book.

A fantastic tour of the breathtaking salt mind. We had an English speaking guided tour which lasted about two hours. The original lift/cage that we traveled down to the mine was amazing but I was a little bit nervous, to be honest, due to its...More

Interesting, iformative tour- Don' miss if you have time.

Located in the Krakow metropolitan area 30 minutes from city center and served by public transportation. Very doable on your own using train or bus. We used train from main station ($1.00 each way) . The mine is the last stop so no fear of...More

Best I recall the vans were secure and the drivers stayed with them while parked. They did allow us to leave personal items in the van but not sure whether they would accommodate any luggage. I would call Discover Krakow... More

Tour at the mines takes about 2 hours if I recall correctly. Check their website, I think they run hourly tours by different languages. It's also only about 1/2 hour drive from the main square area. We took an Uber and then... More
