- Micheline B00Amazing environment and would recommendWell organised small group Great guide full of knowledge and interactive good timing comfortable bus nice catering very easy
- Escape5782234501800The perfect tourGeoff our guide is a local and incredibly knowledgeable not just about the history and geography of the area, but about the wildlife, views, weather and the local community. The perfect way to explore Milford Sounds - interesting, small group - ideal.
- Swegal00Excellent Tour of Milford Sound with a very Knowledgeable GuideWe recently took a full day tour of Milford Sound from Te Anau. Our Guide Jeff was great. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and had great stops along the way to see sights we would have missed had we driven ourselves to Milford Sound. His timing was perfect. He pulled in and gave us our lunches and quickly after that we were on the boat and touring the sound. Could not have asked for a better tour.
- dennisbD8335PH00No refundThe cruise was cancelled due to bad weather the day before (less than 24 hours) and due to no fault of our own there was no refund as we booked through a third party (Tripadvisor). Would advise to book directly with cruise supplier, in this case Trips & Tramps.
- Sreegunner00Amazing!Had a great trip to Milford Sound. John is a very experienced guide who made us feel comfortable throughout the trip. Would definitely recommend.
- Tour3416681862300Great ride to Milford Sound!Best way to get to Milford Sound for an active family! Epic scenery, door to door service and just the right amount of commentary. Andrew was great. Thanks for an awesome experience!
- princessredv005 StarWe did the 3 day package of 1) Kepler Heli hike 2) Routeburn + key summit 3) Milford Cruise and tour. Everything from booking to the start of the tour ran smoothly. Excellent communication and very friendly service. We did not feel out of place at all(Its only me, my husband and the guide). The first 2 days we did the Kepler and Routeburn key summit, the guides were fantastic (Jeff and John)!!! They are so chill and knowledgeable. Its like we knew each other from before! On our 2nd day we were actually expecting that we will have a bad tour because it was all rain and clouds, but John made sure that we will have a good time. Lastly we just finished the Milford day tour, our guide Andrew, talked to us all the way about the stuff we found on the way. Very informative and we were able to see some rare birds. This is our first time in NZ and this tour made it more memorable. Highly recommended.
- williambG4383UT00Amazing dayGreat day trip with Trips & Tramps! Geoff was a knowledgable and entertaining guide. He knew of all the right stops on our trip and provided insight to the country, people, wildlife and terrain. The Milford Sound boat cruise was stunning. We highly recommend this tour! Well worth it!
- leseydamo00Best experience ever!!John was incredible we had the best day of you are going to do Milford sound so this tour - so glad we stayed in Te Anau and then did this tour it’s was a small van we got to stop and see the sights along the way also hear so much local knowledge - very grateful to have John take us Around - thank you again I will be recommending this tour to everyone!!!
- kathaleenr202000Full day trip to Milford Sound with walks.Very enjoyable day to Milford Sound. Jeff made the trip interesting and entertaining with his knowledge and fun stories. The lunch provided was excellent. The cruise was also great. We loved being in a smaller boat that got up close to the wildlife and waterfalls.
- 806viennab00Great tour and guideGreat tour of Milford sound with a guide who was so knowledgeable about the area and very involved in local conservation. For quite a big day out he kept it engaging the entire time with lots of stops and walks around the area.
- bott2300Amazing Day & ExperienceWhat an amazing day! John, our guide, was incredible! Not enough words to describe how good John was and he made our day. We all collectively said that he was the best guide we have ever had. He made us all feel welcome, pesonalised the tour, was great with the kids and super knowledgeable on the area. Just made for the perfect day. I would recommend anyone use this company and John for their tour of the area. Make sure you ask for some Manuka tea!
- brodiec11700Go see the Milford Sound with Jeff!!Jeff was an absolutely fantastic tour guide and made the whole day spectacular! He was super friendly, genuine and had a deep understanding of and personal connection to the local area which allowed us travellers to gain a huge insight to the history, ecology and modern significance of the area. 10/10 would recommend. Also, if you are looking at staying in Queenstown, you should definitely base yourself in Te Anau to explore this area instead. You'll get so much more out of the day and reward the local townships that go above and beyond to showcase their areas. We were very fortunate that the weather was superb, we were able to see dolphins, penguins and seals on our cruise of the milford sound and Jeff stopped at heaps of spectacular views along the way. The packed lunch was also really yummy - chicken wrap, apple and some sweet slices from the local bakery. So good!!
- N-A R00Fantastic excursionJeff our tour guide was brilliant! We had a fantastic day and really pleased we booked with Trips and Tramps. Communication was good, commentary (and dad jokes) throughout the day were on point, the boat trip was so scenic, the cakes provided with lunch were delicious, and Jeff stopped at different places for us to get out and take pictures. Recommendations for what else to do in Te Anau also given. 10/10. Note: Don't forget to wear rain gear! The waterfall will get you wet if the weather doesn't 😅 Maybe I'm just used to large portions, but lunch could have included another wrap or something as I was still a bit hungry.
- Erin B00Fabulous experience in Milford Sound! We had a fabulous time (with John as our guide) on our Milford sound trip! He was really accommodating of the different groups’ needs/ requests for walks, picture-taking moments and shared fun stories about the area. He made great recommendations for Te Anau after the tour too! The cruise and drive down were amazing- we had some rainy/misty weather- but it was still gorgeous. Definitely bring rain gear!

We thoroughly enjoyed the half day walk along part of the Milford Track. Kate, our guide, enthusiastically led the way, pointing out interesting aspects as we went along. She carried tea and coffee supplies which we all enjoyed at the half way point. We were a group of six and Kate made us all very welcome. She had a great knowledge of the Fiordland area, its history, fauna and flora and she shared some of this as we strolled along. The transfer by water taxi to and from the start point was seamless and added to the experience. We’re a relatively fit couple in our 70s and had no trouble with the track as it’s relatively flat and in excellent condition. We’d highly recommend this walk.

Highlight was the water taxi ride from Milford Sound to Sandfly Point that only took 5-7 mins. The cruise was as expected with stunning views of the Sounds. The tracks are mainly flat and easy, no need for hiking poles. The end of the hike was at Giant Gates Falls. We returned on the same tracks we came from back to Sandfly Point to catch the water taxi again and took us back to Milford Sound visitor centre. I took this splendid guided tour courtesy of @tripsandtramps. Trips and Tramps are tour operators based in Te Anau and have an amazing fleet of local guides who are rich in local knowledge and history of Fiordland and surrounding areas. I highly recommend these guys.

We had a tree down on the road on our way to Milford sound so did not get to do the hike. There is no cell service between Te Anau and Milford sounds so we couldn’t contact them for two days. When we got back to town I had an email saying they heard about the tree issue and that we would be getting a refund, no questions asked.
Really appreciate it! Thanks!

Glad we were easy to deal with, even if we didn't get to host you. Fiordland is a wild and unpredictable place so sometimes you just have to roll with it all! Maybe we can take you for a walk another time.

What a delightful guide Douglas was. His knowledge and passion made this hiking tour truly exciting and memorable. Becs, our guide on the Kepler trek was outstanding. Her patience, gentle encouragement and guidance helped me through, what was for me, a very difficult challenge. I highly recommend Trips and Tramps for their excellent service and guides. Ellice L

Hi, thanks so much for your review. We aim to give excellent service and our guides are a big part of that. We are all hikers and travellers ourselves so we know what it's like to be on holiday and to also find yourself on a tour that is a little challenging or outside your comfort zone - we have great empathy for that!
Safe travels.

We enjoyed a day hike along the Milford Track to Giant's Gate Falls with our guide Mark.
It's a great way to get up close and personal with Milford Sound and we'd highly recommend it. It can be wet and muddy, so bring a good pair of hiking shoes or boots. Rainproof clothing is also advisable.
You'll meet your guide and the Milford Sound Visitors Center, unless you made prior arrangements for them to pick you up in Te Anau, which we did. This helped us avoid the long, winding road, and gave us the opportunity to chat more with our guide. We'd highly recommend it.

Hi, glad you had such a good day even in the rain! You make a good comment about bringing good shoes and wet weather gear. Milford Sound can get over 9m of rain a year so we often experience rainy days - makes for fabulous waterfalls and a lush vibrant (rain)forest. You made a good call taking our transport option - the road is quite different to other roads in NZ.
Thanks for your review.
Kind Regards

Steve and mark were our tour guides. It was great to hear Steve’s knowledge of the surroundings on this walk. It was a good amount of time to get a taste of what a 4 day walk is sort of like. We are glad we selected this option as the other longer walks would have been too much for my 12 and 14 yr old. Not to mention me too.

Thank you for your review of the Milford Track and its great to know it was a good level for your family, including the children. Yes the 11 km is a nice length - you know you have gone for a good walk but it isn't too much. Wonderful to hear you loved it and the guides Mark and Stephen added to your experience.

My wife & I just completed 4 day hikes with Trips & Tramps. This company is terrific. Our guides - Yvette, Douglas, Neil & Jeff - were exceptional. They had the relaxed Kiwi character but were knowledgeable & professional at all times. The company exceeded our expectations in all areas. If your are heading to the Fiordland National Park in NZ we recommend you try this great little company.

I would like to know if we can do this tour and then get 'Milford sound sightseeing cruise' which departs from Milford NZ counter latest one at 2.45.
Do we see something different on cruise or it is the same as our hiking one.
