    Tauranga
    Stop: 4 hours
Departing along Pilot Bay you will see views across the Tauranga harbour to the city, Matakana Island and Mauao the iconic landmark mountain where there is evidence of early Maori settlements and hear the Maori legend of how Mauao got his name. Leaving Pilot Bay, you will cross over to one of New Zealand’s most popular beaches "The Mount Main Beach" home of surfing, professional beach volleyball and surf lifesaving competitions plus a popular beach spot for locals and visitors to enjoy. Listen to the history of the Bay of Plenty and how the first peoples to arrive here made this beautiful place their home. Crossing over the Tauranga harbour bridge you will go through the Port of Tauranga and hear about how industry has shaped Tauranga to be the busiest port in New Zealand. In Tauranga you will see some of the earliest European settlement buildings in New Zealand, hear about the settlement of Maori and Europeans in the Bay of Plenty and see how Te Papa peninsular has developed into the city of Tauranga as it is today. Leaving Tauranga via the eastern end of the harbour, you will travel out into the countryside to Comvita the home of the world-renowned Manuka honey. Hear the story behind one man's passion to blend nature, health and wellness together and sample some of the many products available for purchase. A short drive will take you to Kiwifruit Country where you will hear about the Kiwifruit industry, sample fruit, juices, jams, chutneys, ice cream and pick up a memento of your visit. Finally, it’s a brief stop at an Avocado orchard to see how this amazing tree produces one of the worlds super foods and sample some of the local avocado produce, then we head back to Mount Maunganui to the finish of your tour.

Started with a tour of the city then made our way to a kiwi fruit farm was very interesting and lots of different foods to sample bought quite a few things, the honey farm was good has a nice little cafe also very interesting. The just a quick visit to a avocado farm were we sampled some amazing avocado oils yummy. All up a great day would recommend this tour.

Great 4 hours
Feb 2020 • Couples
Russell Picks you up from where the cruise ship docks. He is very knowledgeable and makes the whole experience very interesting. We were lucky enough to be the only two on the trip due to a glitch in the booking system (good for us!) two tour sellers joined us. We visited a kiwi farm and had tastings and ice cream, Manuka honey factory and avocado farm and some lovely beach spots it was all really interesting and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend.

Feb 2020
We really enjoyed our 4-hour tour. Interesting and fun. The town is very near the port so you can walk in or take the ship shuttle. We were met at the port gates by Russell and on our return we walked along the beach road which is very close to the ship. It was lovely.

Varied & Informative
Feb 2020
This small group tour was very informative and we had the opportunity to see a selection of locations that had important historical significance. The guide was knowledgeable & able to answer all our questions. Really liked the visit to the the Manuka honey factory & the Kiwi farm. The free sample of ice cream & kiwi was very tasty. The final visit to the avocado farm was also interesting.

Taraunga tour
Did this tour yesterday with Russell who is informative and friendly, a great guy, who had a comfortable coach with seat belts ( not all did in NZ) which accommodates ten people comfortably. We enjoyed the tour of the kiwi factory with the free ice cream, looking at the honey products at another factory, seeing avocados growing abundantly on trees and tasting avocado oil. We had a drive around Taraunga first.

Excellent overview of Tauranga
Feb 2020 • Friends
Russell ran an excellent well paced tour. He is friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about Tauranga, its history and local farming.
We came off a cruise and were met by Russell at the Tauranga port. It was a hot day so it was nice to get picked up in an air conditioned van with a bottled water on our seat. Russell knew all the best places to stop and explained the history and culture of the area. We visited some beautiful beaches and drove out to Comvita where we sampled Manuka honey and learnt about bees. We had time to have refreshments and had lovely honey banana smoothies. Russell taught us about kiwi fruit and we had a chance to sample some of the gold and green kiwis. The tour provided a kiwi fruit ice cream which was delicious! We then went to an avacado farm and sampled avocado oils with bread. Thank you for a fabulous tour of Tauranga

Beautiful beaches and more!
Jan 2020
My son and I came off a cruise and was met by Russell at the Tauranga port. It was nice to get picked up in an air conditioned van with a bottled water on our seat. Russell knew of the great areas to stop and teach us about the history and culture of the land. We had time to view some amazing world known beaches! We drove out to Comvita where we learned about Manuka honey and sampled the different kinds. We had plenty of opportunities to use the restrooms and relax eating ice cream or having a hot beverage. Russell taught us about the kiwi fruits and we had a chance to taste some of the gold and green kiwis. The tour provided a kiwi ice cream that was so delicious! We sampled avocado oils with bread and had a wonderful time exploring Tauranga in a short amount of time. Thank you for your expertise about Tauranga and creating memorable experiences!
