    Tamaki Maori Village
Stop: 4 hours - Admission included
Your journey through time unfolds when your coach travels to a pre-European village set deep within the forest, 15 minutes from Rotorua. Let this 3.5-hour tour and your imagination take over as your guide instructs you on the protocol for visiting the marae. A chief is selected, a song is learnt and the eerie cry of the welcome is heard before you enter the world of the proud warriors of the ancient Maori. You will experience the powhiri (welcome ceremony) before you enter the village, with crackling open fires in front of traditional whare (houses). You'll hear traditional Maori instruments and watch the daily activities of days gone by. In the wharenui (meeting house), a Rangiatea culture group offers a powerful display of haka song and dance. Then, as new friendships are forged, dine on a traditional hangi feast, where the food is cooked slowly beneath the ground in earth ovens. This is an amazing re-enactment based on actual events from history, with real characters, traditional arts and crafts, powerful song and dance while enjoying an authentic Hangi feast.

The service was quite crappy and I wonder what else. Show was terrible and nothing to learn/gain. Rude staff. My group had 4 children, by fast the largest children group consisting smallest kids but we were the last to be invited for dinner. I will refrain from mentioning the

Kia ora, Thank you for leaving your review. We're a little surprised you have rated us so low and did not learn/gain anything from your experience as we're the most award winning cultural experience in New Zealand and well-known for our authenticity. I have shared the comments with our team regarding being last to be invited for dinner with your children, this is something we can definitely be more aware of & improve on in future. Nga mihi nui,

I took my son and his family to this show and dinner, I was moved to tears as was my son with the beautifully sung Maori songs. This was very interesting hearing and participating in the ways of the Maori people, we learned so much. I felt humbled at watching how these

This visit to the village was one of the highlights of my visit to the north island of New Zealand. I got to learn a lot about the Māori people and their culture. The visit started in downtown Rotorua at the meeting place with a film presentation. One person in my tour group
