Small-Group Tour: The Lord of the Rings Hobbiton Movie Set Tour from Auckland
US$197.57
Overview
A visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set is a must for fans of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films. This tour lets you venture even further into the mythical world of Middle Earth with a guided tour followed by a Hobbit-themed drink at the Green Dragon Inn, and lunch at the Green Dragon Marquee.
What to Expect
After early morning pickup from your Auckland hotel in an air-conditioned coach, set out on the scenic 2-hour journey to Hobbiton.

You’ll get a guided tour of the movie set, which has been preserved just as it was in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies. See the farm on which the set was built, then venture into the Shire to discover the world of Middle Earth.

Listen as your guide tells you about the filming of the movies, recalls stories from the set, and points out real props seen on screen. See Bilbo Baggins’ home, the party tree, the bridge, and more. Afterward, stop at the Green Dragon Inn for a special Hobbiton-brewed cider, ale, or ginger beer, then eat a buffet lunch at the Green Dragon marquee.

Finally, you’ll be returned to your departure point in Auckland.

This tour was well worth the money. The day we went there was only 1 other person besides me and my daughter. Our tour guide Wayne was so entertaining! It’s a long drive (2 hours) to the site but his informative and comical conversation made...More

Service with a smile

Very efficient organisation, moved me to this tour when the other one I'd booked didn't have other bookings and kept me informed all the way. Entertaining and knowledgeable driver, excellent guide at Hobbiton, nice lunch. The Hobbiton tour itself is fascinating.

I'm going on an adventure!!!

This was a wonderful tour. My family and I had high expectations of this tour as we are big fans of the movies. Whoever had the idea to preserve the movie set and sell tours here was a genius. The cost was well worth it....More

No, it's all easy walking on well-made paths. You could probably walk it in about 15 minutes if you didn't stop to take photos.

It depends which tour you're talking about. Just the tour of the Hobbiton set itself is about an hour. Our tour included a drink and lunch and started and ended in Auckland (which is 2-3 hours away from Matamata... More
