Additionally, our guide James C was very helpful and he is really caring about showing us the secret places, tell us the historical part of each place. He is absolutely amazing!Written 13 December 2024

- dsksjas0 contributionsA great day tour along beautiful coastlineThis was a great day trip to see the 12 Apostles and travel the Great Ocean Road. Our guide + driver Sophia kept us entertained + informed throughout the journey, and drove really steadily on the twisting sections (very good for those who tend to suffer from travel sickness). The breaks were well chosen at nice spots along the way. The mini coach was a comfortable ride with plenty of legroom and good air con, and Sophia had the best music playlist!Written 12 December 2024

He was well organised and made sure we knew what to expect and how to best utilise our day. He took extra efforts to make sure we have the best views and helped the entire group by clicking some amazing pictures. Covering GOR in a single day is a packed itinerary but the tour helped maximise our time and see the best of the offerings. It had some breath taking views and experiences!Written 11 December 2024

Just on our trip back to our hotel with our driver Corey.
Fantastic day some great sights on the tour "the nobbies" view is stunning and even got to see our first koalas and wallabys on the tour aswell which was a massive bonus as this is our honeymoon.
At the penguin parade I would definitely recommend trying to upgrade or getting the penguin plus experience as people that went to the normal viewing platform only saw about 20 penguins where as we had hundreds.
Yet again would highly recommend this tour to anyone and if your lucky enough to get corey as a guide you've had a bonus
Even after a car had rear ended us he remained very calm professional and came back to the bus apologised for something that was not his fault in the slightest and carried on like nothing had happened he is a credit to go west tours as I have seen alot of people handle situations like that very differently

First, try to request Clemency as your guide. We thought she was amazing. She was informative, funny, had a curated playlist for different portions of the trip. She was excellent at time management but also flexible when things came up. I can't say enough good things about her.
This was an amazing experience. We fed kangaroos at the animal sanctuary, paid an extra $20 to pet a koala. I'd absolutely suggest the free 20min show at the animal sanctuary.
We also did the more expensive package (guided ranger tour) for the phillip island penguins, and I'd really recommend splurging for that. They give you binoculars and you sit in a section closer to where the penguins come up You are in a small group (~10) per tour guide, and the guide gives you all kinds of information about penguins and helps spot them.

I went on this tour with high expectations and the tour guide, Rohan, delivered. We first stopped and Brighten Beach to see the bath houses. These houses cost approx $395k which is amazing despite they are small, no running water or electricity. The size of them are mini barn size which typcially cost $800 in US. All different colors but facinating to view and have pictures taken. Next we to the wildlife park and saw the Koalas, Kangroos, Wallby's, Dingo's etc up close. It was a hot day but we were able to cool down with an ice code milkshake in the cafe (not shake like Us but bascially ice code cholocate milk which was yummy. We went to Philip Island to walk on the beach, get our feet wet and on to a little town for dinner. Last stop was the Peguin Parade. We did as our tour guide suggested for general admission, we sat at the top on the right hand side to have premium viewing of the peguins coming out of the water. Then affet about 15-20 min we walked along the board walk walk and saw peguins up close. We even got to see a mama feed her baby. Excellent trip and we apprciate our tour guide Rohan for his experenice with all areas visits. Thank you Rohan.

During our visit to Australia we decided to do a tour to see some of the local wildlife. We booked online (preferred penguin viewing - not underground) and promptly received our instructions for pick up. When the day arrived, our tour guide Leonie picked us up at our hotel, and proceeded to drive us to our destinations. We particularly enjoyed seeing lots of animals, especially the koala and the Tasmanian devil at the sanctuary, but the highlight by far was the penguin march - they are adorable. Leonie did a great job throughout the trip providing us with a lot of information about the areas we were visiting, and even took us to see wallabies off the beaten track. It was a day of many great memories; by far our favorite activity of our trip to Australia (we also saw the Australian Open, but this takes the cake). We highly recommend this tour to anyone who is in the Melbourne area. Hopefully you will get Leonie (although she assures us all the guides are great).

My husband and I had a great day trip to Phillip Island. Got picked up and dropped off at our hotel. We had a small group of 16 on our bus which was awesome. (Bus seats max. 24 people). Our tour guide, Clemency, was awesome. Great commentary along the way and very friendly. Bathing boxes were a great photo stop. Moonlit Sanctuary was also a nice stop to see Australian wildlife and you could feed the kangaroos if you buy $3 of feed when you get there. (All entries into places were free). Good light meals available to purchase there. Great variety for our dinner stop which we could get a bigger feed (Italian, fish and chips etc). Unfortunately it rained after our visit to the Moonlit Sanctuary until we got to the Penguin Parade, but there were some awesome photo spots to enjoy along the way on a good day. Rained cleared up by Penguin Parade which was perfect. If it is a rainy day, just pack a small towel or use a poncho for something to sit on as the steps are very wet/slippery. Penguin Plus viewing was awesome. Great viewing of the penguins coming onto the beach and then make their walk to their burrows. Because our seats were so good and so close to the penguins, we stayed for about 40 mins before going along the boardwalks. Definitely recommend Penguin Plus, but some seats are better than others. Aim for the right so you can see clearly see the beach and the trail they make past the underground viewing. It didn't look like the underground viewers could see the penguins come onto the beach so definitely recommend Penguin Plus. Can't comment on general viewing, except that they were able to roam the board walks and see the penguins up close that way after being in the general viewing area. Penguin Parade was definitely the highlight. Remember to pack a jacket. We went on a simmer night on a rainy day and it was very cool. Then it was a 2 hour trip back to Melbourne and got back after midnight. Thank you Go West and Clemency for a wonderful experience!

This was not as good as I hoped. The penguin parade was our reason for going, however, the penguins leave the sea as it is going dark and you can't see much from the viewing area. Our guide recommended we go to the boardwalk set back off the beach as the penguins tend to waddle down a track as they go to their homes set some distance back from the beach. We then saw some 40 penguins in groups of fives and tens No photos are allowed which is disappointing but necessary as it confuses the birds.
It was interesting to see the Beach Huts at Brighton Beach but not a big wow.
We did enjoy seeing a wombat at the sanctuary and Tasmanian Devil. We were surprised that one of the Australian cafe workers picked up on my wife's Welsh accent and spoke to her in Welsh (his parents were originally from north wales)
This is a good trip but long and somewhat anti-climatic with arrival back in Melbourne after midnight

We're sorry to hear that our tour didn't quite tick all of his reviewer's boxes.
It is correct that the penguins come ashore as dusk falls, so the Penguin Parade does take place in darkness. As darkness falls quite late in summer time (around 9.00pm) the tour does return to Melbourne at around midnight at this time of year.

We booked the Phillip Island Penguin Parade small group tour with the promise of getting to see the little penguins in their natural habitat. We were picked up at our hotel at the exact time promised and welcomed by Lucy and Luke who upon meeting, we knew we were going to have a great day. They were warm and welcoming, giving us a brief synopsis of the day ahead.
After collecting a small number of other guests, we were on our way and in no time at all, arrived at Brighton Beach to see the famous beach huts. These were really photogenic, decorated in every colour and design imaginable, a must have photo for Instagram. Lucy and Luke told us about the boxes, their history and how one had recently sold for an eye watering price.
After Brighton Beach, we were on our way again to visit Moonlit Sanctuary. We were extremely unlucky as when we arrived, the heavens opened and we were caught in a downpour that lasted for the duration of the time at the sanctuary. Instead of dampening our spirits, we had a great time there despite the weather. Stroking a soggy Kangaroo was a particular memory that will stick with us. We got to see dingo’s, kookaburras, wombats and even a few bush turkeys but the best part was getting a hug from one of their resident koalas.
Back on the road, we headed to the Nobbies where we took in the breath-taking views over the volcanic rocks and rugged cliff faces. By this point the weather had cleared up and made for some excellent photographic opportunities. The Nobbies also offered our first opportunity to see the Phillip Island geese and wild wallabies and kangaroos which we saw plenty of after this. We were then taken into town and given time to eat at a restaurant of our choosing, we opted for a lovely little Italian restaurant with views over the sea.
We then moved on to the main event, the little penguin parade. We had chosen to go for the underground viewing with Penguins Plus the exceeded all of our expectations. As the sun went down, the adorable little penguins clumsily made their journeys from the sea to their nests. We were literally eye level with them as they waddled past in their thousands. We had plenty of time to watch them and enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity. I cannot stress enough how special this experience is and how moving it is to watch them and hear their immersive squawking all across the island.
This whole trip is one of the most special things we have ever done and will be treasured for the rest of our lives. Lucy and Luke were integral to the success of the day and went all out to ensure we had the most amazing time. They were informative, engaging and beyond friendly. A real asset to Go West Tours. If we ever find ourselves back in Melbourne, we would not hesitate to book this tour again.

There were many highlights on our trip to Phillip Island and Mike was certainly one of them. He had great banter, was very informative and made a very diverse group of people feel thoroughly welcome on his bus. We especially enjoyed his awesome playlist and would like to know if it’s available to download on Spotify. We are seasoned travellers and he is by far the best guide we have ever had!

I’ve rated this tour a five not based on my actual day, but what it could’ve been based on Leonie, our superhero guide, and the places we stopped. Our bus had some problems with the air conditioning, not once but twice, and it was a super hot day! I don’t feel like this was because the buses weren’t maintained, they seemed nice otherwise, it was just one of those things. I must’ve had a good seat because I didn’t suffer too much, but others on our tour weren’t so lucky. Our guide, Leonie, was a trouper! She did all she could to make everyone happy and even bought us ice cream at one stop to help cool us down! She memorized all our names and constantly checked on how we were doing. Her commentary was interesting and entertaining. She made sure that some on the tour who needed to take a train were to the station on time and even looked up train times and platform info for them. (Hey Go West, she deserves a raise after this one 😁) As with my other Go West tour the day before meeting points and times were made clear and the stops were well thought out and timely. The Moonlight sanctuary was great. As mentioned, it was a very hot day so the animals were a bit restful but there was still enough contact to make it enjoyable (the only thing we missed was the wombat). We were told ahead of time that the kangaroos would probably not want food so not to bother buying it unless we wanted to try our luck. That was very appreciated! Lunch was ordered ahead so we didn’t waste our animal time standing in a long line. The Penguin parade was amazing! Definitely spring for the ranger tour! Our view was the best! (Not sure about the underground one, but definitely better than general admission). Take a jacket. Even though the day was hot, it definitely cooled off after dark by the shore. A super long, hot day but well worth it!

Best way to spend the Good Friday weekend with GoWest tours to Philip Island and we were fortunate to get the founder of company Terry to drive and guide us. The day tour took us to Brighton Beach in morning and Moonlit Sanctuary to see Aussie wildlife in afternoon. The highligjt though was definitely the Philip Island penguin march where we saw 2000 little penguins come onshore. I would highly recommend paying a little extra to do the ranger guide tour where for 90 mins you got to have special access and explanations.

Hi, How can I upgrade to Penguin Plus viewing if I book via tour ?
Written 15 March 2024
Upgrade is only worth it if you have someone that is sensitive to the cold. Had elderly people in my party and they enjoyed watching seated through the underground window. Very comfortable vs being outside if it is a cold, winter day

Web site: Phillip Island Nature Parks. Go to Buy Tickets, Penguin Parade, Penguins Plus. If you're going with a tour you will want to check with the tour company. I had general seating but they will be right along the boardwalk as you’re going back to the car park. This is the best spot to see them after they have started to come ashore. Hope this helps.
