Highlights
  • Guided short hikes to Josephine, Millaa Millaa, and Dinner Falls.
  • Chance to swim in the natural pools and waterfalls
  • Includes picnic lunch, morning and afternoon tea
  • Hassle-free pickup and drop-off from your Cairns hotel
What to expect
  • Your day trip to the Atherton Tablelands, part of the World Heritage–listed Wet Tropics of Queensland, starts with hotel pickups in Cairns by coach for the drive to the Tablelands, located about 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Cairns. After about an hour of driving, make a stop at the Cathedral Fig Tree, a large 500-year-old strangler fig tree with long aerial roots. Drive onward into a pristine rainforest, where you’ll stop at Lake Eacham. Go for a swim in the volcanic lake, created more than 12,000 years ago, and watch for turtles in the clear water while your guide prepares a hearty morning tea. After your snack break, head to Mt Hypipamee National Park to check out Dinner Falls, where you can go swimming again, and then take a 0.5-mile (800-meter) walk to a viewpoint to admire the crater. You’ll spot a jewel-toned lake as you look down at the crater rim, a dizzying 450 feet (138 meters) below you. When you're ready for lunch, we serve a picnic style meal with fresh bread, salad items for sandwiches and a meat and fruit platter. We do cater for food allergies so let us know in advance. Then head to Millaa Millaa Falls to take a swim in its natural tropical pool. Your last destination, and the highlight of your tour, is Josephine Falls, which you’ll reach by taking a short walk with your guide. If you’re feeling adventurous, go down the ‘waterslide’ that drops you into a deep pool, or just relax and enjoy the scenery. You’ll also refuel here with afternoon snacks provided by your guide. Your day trip ends with the drive back to Cairns for hotel drop-off. Please note: This is a sample itinerary; yours may vary based on the road and/or weather conditions on the day of your tour.

Great trip!! We saw and swam in so many incredible falls but never felt rushed. Loved to see they were environmentally friendly using reusable plates/cups/cuttlery rather than single use ❤️
Our guide James was so lovely and was a wildlife expert

Definitely recommend

Great day out
This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Marcio was a engaging and knowledgeable guide. The trip was relaxed and not strenuous at all. The food was good and plentiful. The places we saw were magical. I highly recommend this tour.

Great tour but food was a big letdown
Jun 2021 • Friends
I really liked the places we visited despite the crappy weather and our guide was upbeat and shared some interesting facts about the rainforest and its wildlife. Big let down was the food! We asked for vegan food well in advance via email and reconfirmed a couple of days before. Still at lunch we were only given lettuce, tomato, cucumbers hummus and rice crackers. Morning tea was tea/coffee with some oranges as all the sweets had dairy in it. Pretty underwhelming, taking into account they confirmed they would have vegan options throughout the day

Fun packed day trip

The guides on our tour, Macio and Brendan, were fantastic and made our tour a lot of fun. Not only did our guides take us to lots of interesting places, including Babinda Boulders and Lake Eacham amongst others, but rather than just taking us to these places, they took us to experience and enjoy them.

Best trip!!!
Apr 2021 • Family
We had the most amazing trip with James on Thursday. He was a fantastic guide; so interactive and friendly. We had a lovely tour group and it was such an amazing tour. We saw so many sites! We travelled over 300km - giving testament to just how much we got to see. But don’t worry you’re not stuck in a bus all day! We had 9 different stops; including 4 swimming sites. The food was perfect; muffins, cakes and fruit for morning tea, diy sandwiches for lunch with lots of choices and Aussie biscuits for afternoon tea. The weather was great up there; a little bit cooler than in Cairns so was great for exploring. We got to see a few natural wildlife too. Could not recommend this tour more. They bring along a waterproof camera and you get all the photos for free which was great! Went with 2 adults and a 20 and 16 year old and we all loved it! Thanks so much!!!

Amazing experience!

What an amazing experience! From the minute we checked in to the minute we were dropped back at the hotel we enjoyed our experience.

Our tour leader, James, was knowledgeable on our surroundings, including the animals. He provided great insight. The areas we visited were magnificent. Our safety was of upmost importance which was great for anyone feeling nervous.

Enjoyable and fun tour suited to all ages! Would travel with them again.

Shoutout to tour guide James!
Mar 2021
Spent a fantastic day with tour guide James - highly recommend this day trip especially if you can go with James! Great scenery, taken to lots of “secret” places only known to the guides with an interesting and informative commentary along the way. Get to go swimming in some stunning locations and get up close with the waterfalls. Lunch is shared with the group which is a great way to meet people. Would really recommend this trip.

You won't regret this tour! I never leave a review but this trip deserve it, I highly recommend James he takes the adventure to another level, we had so much fun that day, from very beginning to an end. ( the food is also good)

I have done many tours before, but I never had a guide who is more fearless than me, I lost a few challenges against him hahaha😂

Looking forward to go back and have more tours like this one👌

Tablelands on the max

A not to be missed experience in Cairns. James was in charge and he had Dom the dominator along for the ride. Both guys are like your crazy enthusiastic young brother except they are grown up. Every aspect of the day went smoothly and no matter who you were they looked after you. I would love to go again.
