Overview
Cruise to Green Island from Cairns and find a tropical paradise on the Great Barrier Reef. You'll spend either four or five hours at Green Island, with plenty of time to snorkel or scuba dive, tour the reef on a glass-bottom boat or view coral from a semi-submersible submarine.
Highlights
  • See spectacular marine life and vibrant corals of the Great Barrier Reef
  • Spend half a day exploring and relaxing on Green Island
  • Enjoy access to Green Island Resort facilities and showers
  • Two convenient departure times suit your schedule
What to Expect
Travel to the Reef Fleet Terminal on your own to meet your boat. Board a catamaran bound for Green Island and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Upon arrival at Green Island, you’ll have the day to explore and relax, choosing from a wide variety of activities offered by Green Island Resort. When booking, choose between a snorkeling trip to the coral reef, a glass-bottom boat tour, and a trip in a semi-submersible that gets you below the surface without getting wet. The resort’s facilities are available for your use, and you can rent beach loungers, canoes, sailboards, shade umbrellas, and more. If you’ve selected the lunch option when booking, return to the catamaran for a fresh buffet, or just purchase a meal on the island. After your island time, the tour concludes with the return trip to Cairns.

Excellent value for money and well organized. They also provide motion sickness tablets in the cruise boat (a nice touch). The sea was rough that day and it was a great experience nonetheless

Much of the coral for which I went to Green Island was 'grey' - dead or dying. The water was blue and looked clear from the surface, but underwater the visibility was limited. There are plenty of fish to see, but the highlight was seeing...More

Having been to Cairns several times and visited the outer reef three times I decided to have a change and visit green island. I was hoping to see a turtle and looking forward to snorkeling. I had read reviews about sea grass but wasn't phased...More

Disappointing day trip to Green Island. Boat was ok. Coral reef virtually non-existent. Snorkelling a waste of time. Semi-submersible was by far the best part-recommend this. Saw fish, turtles & minimal coral. The island itself revolves around tourists paying top price for food, drinks etc....More

You can return a couple hours later. But you’ll want to leave a lot sooner. I don’t recommend going to Green Island at all. Save your money and put it to a semi private all-day thing on the outer reef. I don’t know why the... More
