Fun and interesting experience
Apr 2021 • Couples
The airboat tour is great fun and you get to experience Darwin from a different viewpoint. You get to see the mangroves up close and if you're lucky there may be a croc trap setup you can go to. My only negative is I think it is a bit pricey for the hour, but other than that I do recommend it.

Another side of Darwin
We too were really pleased our tour at the end of March went ahead despite the difficulty of getting on and off at the Dinah Ramp instead of the easier town mooring. As the least agile of the passengers, it was a challenge for me but a giggle, with lots of help and so worth it when we skimmed over the mudflats to view Darwin from the other side and cruise through the mangroves. Lucky was a great skipper, providing diverse information from WWII stories to environmental news. Fascinating to drift around the crocodile trap and an abandoned pearl trawler. And yes, the 360 degree spins are fun even with a bit of mud splatter thrown in. (The white t-shirt washed up beautifully!)

Frickin Amazing! 👍👍👍
This was simply the best morning in Darwin. Yes the price was high but it’s worth it. The tour at 8am was just perfect as we left when the water was still and the waterfront quiet. Our guide ‘Lucky’ was awesome! Great balance of fun, tourist views, speed and spins. Enjoyed the vistas of the harbour, mangroves, wildlife and history. Loved it!

Great fun, wild ride and beautiful scenery with classic “Darwin flavour”
Our driver Lucky had made a great effort to allow our tour to go ahead in pretty windy weather at low tide, by bringing the previous tour in at a different boat ramp (Dinah Beach) and organising for us to board there. The office staff (2 or 3 ladies I dealt with) were really professional and diligent whenever confirming and adjusting details over the phone, and made sure we got there ok. This meant that the previous group did have to Wade through quite a bit of muddy slick harbour water to get out, since the boat was full and the sides are quite high (though there is a ramp for when they use the regular wharf I believe). So their clothing and shoes would be soaking in buckets right now!

We were so grateful that our trip could still go ahead though - thanks, Lucky - but some people couldn’t make it onboard (or knew they wouldn’t get off!) so they went for the ‘full refund or rescheduled date’ offered in the brochure. Disappointing, but you can’t predict Darwin’s weather, especially in March!

As others have said, we motored along nearer the city to keep the engine noise down, but Lucky really gunned it across the mud flats, and we explored various creeks and mangrove areas. We stopped regularly to learn about flora and fauna and the whole industry of croc trapping and egg-collecting, plus the conservation of all the many types of mangroves in the wider harbour area. We certainly are so fortunate to have that on our doorstep, and we should be careful to appreciate and maintain it in partnership with the traditional owners and custodians. The 360s on the way back were so much fun: certainly a different view of Darwin than we get from our balcony! You DO get sprayed with harbour water, and sometimes with mud or even having to get out elsewhere as we found at the start, so don’t wear white/light/expensive clothes, or longer pants/valuable shoes. You may need to wash or soak some things afterwards!

Knowing that, and by reading reviews that lots of people will want the adrenaline elements of the tour as well as the views and boating aspects so they’ll be disappointed if some people make the driver ‘tone it down’ for them, choose wisely and if this is for you, dress appropriately, bring plenty of water, non-blow-away-hat and strong sunscreen, and you’ll have a ball!

Expensive and not very exciting
Jan 2021 • Friends
Tour was finished in 45 minutes and not 1 hour as stated. Not very exciting in fact I would say quite boring.
There are only so many mangroves you can look at
Not even a bottle of water was offered.

Helpful and friendly!
Jul 2019
We booked the sunset tour back in July 2019. Got to the pier, had a look around, and watched as the airboat struggled back to the dock from the earlier tour, smoke pouring out of the motor.

After the people on that tour left the boat, the pilot spent a few minutes checking out the motor and when it was obvious the motor was toast, the pilot told us we wouldn't be going out. He was very apologetic and immediately offered to rebook us for another time, but we were unable to do so because we were leaving Darwin the next day. I received a full refund in a day or two.

I would definitely book this tour again the next time I travel to Darwin, as the pilot and the office staff were so friendly and helpful. They did their best in difficult circumstances and refunded our money promptly.

Fantastic Experience
Nov 2019
The tour was recommended to us by a local, and we a glad we went. 360 spins, flying across the mud flats, checking out some local crocks, bird life and a ship wreck. Rowdy was a classic, funny, good to listen too and informative - loved the history talk.

Great ride with great views of Darwin
Mar 2020
I enjoyed this tour and had been looking forward to it as a premium tour for my week in Darwin. Driver was great and the views superb. Would have likes it to be a bit crazier than what is was but I guess that is expected with a mixed age group on board. Overall had fun, pity no crocs in sight.
