Best tour in Uluru
May 2021 • Friends
This is one of the best yours you can do in Uluru. Dylan and Sarah were our fantastic tour guides, and they made the tour fun, interesting and interactive. Had a great trip around Uluru then rounded it all off with sunset drinks and an amazing BBQ. The star talk was also brilliant. I highly recommend this trip!

Nice scenery, shame about the dinner...
Apr 2021
Travelled with family and friends on the AAT Kings Sunset BBQ at Uluru. The first problem we encountered was gaining an understanding of the timing required for us to meet the bus at the pick-up location. That information was not provided in the email and making contact with AAT Kings prior early on the day of the event was unachievable. Therefore, I would recommend anyone else booking this activity ensuring they contact AAT Kings a few days in advance.

There were two phases to the activity. The first was to watch the sunset at Uluru and then to re-board the bus and head to dinner. The first activity was great, watching the sunset against Uluru while having a glass of wine with some cheese and crackers. The second part, dinner, was less satisfying. Paying $235 per head for the entirety of the activity, the dinner portion consisted of steak, a sausage, a piece of kangaroo meet, a chicken skewer, some garlic prawns and salads. Additionally, beer and wine was included.

Unfortunately, by the time our table was invited to get food, salads had been depleted, and there were still many people behind us waiting in line. When we asked for additional salad, we were informed that there was no more forthcoming, and the salad bowl was removed. We also found out that individuals from other tables, who had already eaten, had rejoined the queue for seconds prior to our table of 24 people having any food. Further, two beers were offered, VB and XXXX. I had one VB and when I asked for a second, I was informed that no VB was left leaving one option only.

Overall, we enjoyed the sunset and each others’ company, but when a person is paying $235 and expecting a meal with a variety of salads and beverages, it is probably appropriate that said meal and beverages are available. Consequently, we did not enjoy the meal and for the price charged, cannot overall recommend the tour.

RIPPED OFF
Apr 2021
$235 for...
Nibbles at sunset consisted of packaged chips and packet dips.
Dinner was terrible - meat was tough and full of gristle, 3 out of 4 salads had run out by the time our table was called forward.
Serving $10 retail wine a joke.

Total Rip Off, especially when compared to the Sounds of Silence dinner offered by the Ayers Rock resort for $229. This was booked out so we thought we might be getting something close to it from a quality perspective - clearly not the case!!

Company abandoned customers after they were robbed
Apr 2021 • Family
The tour and staff were awesome, great dinner and fun time.

Our bus was robbed over dinner (company advised us to leave valuables on board as the bus was locked at every stop) and people lost thousands in cash, jewellery, cameras, IDs, passports, etc. The operations manager (Adam I think) showed up and began abusing the people who had just been robbed, complaining that his footy team had just lost. He then called everyone complaining to him drunk (the company served all drinks) and told us there was nothing they would do.

The next morning, there has been no contact from the company and they seem to have the intention of making this go away quietly without reimbursing anyone. People’s holidays have been ruined and the company is offering no help.

BBQ Dinner
Couldn’t recommend this enough. The driver and dinner hosts were friendly, informative and made the experience enjoyable. Such a great time eating dinner only a few hundred meters from Uluru. Food was great as well. Really great setting.

Expensive but Enjoyable!
The dinner is a very expensive BBQ, the views are amazing and the location is wonderful. The star guide was interesting and alit of it I did remember from my childhood. It was overpriced but where else to you get to experience such a tour. Do it if you are in Uluru.

While the sunset isn't as vivid as the sunrise, the visit to the Cultural Centre adds to the experience.
Plus Dylan. the AAT guide/driver was informative with his traditional story-telling and all over general knowledge.
The BBQ is a must. Very good food - kangaroo is included.

Aussie BBQ under the stars
We had a wonderful evening.
The BBQ was set up by the cultural centre , the service was excellent we were well looked after - nice wine and a great selection of food - steaks - lamb sausages - chicken - prawns and kangaroo steaks with salads and rolls followed by lamingtons for pudding. It was lovely in the warm evening and finished off with an informative talk about the stars and night sky.
It was worth the money.

Wonderful evening of Bush Tucker Food and Star Gazing
Dec 2019
Our family of 4 has a wonderful experience on this quality AAT Kings tour. The food was very good and nothing beats a dinner cooked and served under the stars and the watchful eye of Urulu. We had outstanding tour guides who provided excellent background on the native lands and people. We would definitely do this tour again. The only negative I might say is that 1/2 of our tour participants were part of a Japanese tour group and were very loud during dinner. But what can you say when people are enjoying their time in such a beautiful setting. This is a "must do" when visiting Urulu.

Do not take this tour@
This tour had terrible food which was cooked and served in a parking lot at Uluru. That's exactly how the food tasted too. The " star guide" did not even know where the Southern Cross should have been. This is by far the worst, most over- hyped tour. Everything about Uluru is over hyped. Please do not go!

I have never left negative reviews before. This one deserves it!

Thanks for your review and we are so sorry to hear you feel that everything at Uluru is over hyped. In regards to our BBQ site, there is a car park near our site, but your comment makes it sound like we set up in the car park itself which is not the case. As I’m sure you can appreciate this is a National Park and we must work within the areas set aside by the Traditional Owners and the Rangers. While I appreciate this does not change your experience, we are currently working with both groups at present on a new site. I will also be following up on your comments re the Star talk. Our guides are very knowledgeable on the night sky but this does not sound like it was the case on this particular night. In regards to the food we would like to hear more of what it was that you disliked about the BBQ. If you have the time I would love to speak to you in person about your whole experience. I am the General Manager of Day Tours and can be contacted on +61 417 636033 or by email at james.dixon@aatkings.com.au I do hope to hear from you so I can follow up further on your concerns. Best regards James
