Meet your guide and group in Oppdal in the morning, then drive independently to the start of the hike at the entrance to Dovrefjell National Park. Bring extra layers of clothing to accommodate the changing weather, as well as your own lunch.
For the next five to seven hours, follow your guide on the park's trails, keeping an eye out for mountain grouse and reindeer. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the spectacular scenery, punctuated by your guide's commentary on the local flora and fauna.
You'll head for the best possible spots to see the musk ox, planned in advance by your guide. These huge animals may first appear as brown rocks—until they move. Learn about the animals' biology and behavior while getting as close as safety allows for great photos.
Midday, take a break to enjoy the lunch you've brought and coffee provided by your guide.
