Overview
You can travel through the Tromso countryside on your own, but it wouldn’t be anything like this reindeer sledding and Sami culture tour. The excursion includes a reindeer-drawn sled ride plus a visit to a traditional lavuu (Sami tent) to enjoy a meal and cultural stories. You’ll also get the chance to stand with a herd of 200 reindeer under close supervision from a guide.
What to Expect
This reindeer sledding and Sami cultural tour picks you up from the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromso. Board a coach bus and take a short ride to the countryside.
Meet your guide for your tour and hop in a sled pulled by reindeer. Ride through the forest for a while until you get to an area with around 200 reindeer. Get out and under the close supervision of your guide, stand with the reindeer and even take part in an optional feeding.
Afterward, head to a lavuu (a Samil tent), and warm up with a coffee and traditional Sami soup while you listen to stories about Sami culture.
Once your tour is over, ride back in a coach bus for a drop-off at Tromso.

Great experience.

A unique way to go in touch with this Nordic world. Knowing the Sami's style of life was so interesting and the contact with the reindeers was really funny.

Great experience

I would recommend this tour to families with children, as well as adults. The staff was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Learning first hand about the Sami traditions and culture was invaluable.
