About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Danies13860 contributionsAn incredible day in IcelandThis was an incredible day! Stunningly gorgeous, just the right amount of movement, an insanely cool geothermal river that we got to splash in, and some of the most beautiful landscapes in Iceland! We loved the fact that accessing Landmannalauger was so much easier with a guide and a bus, and our guide Einar was absolutely incredible! He kept the mood light and funny from the early morning, answered all of our million questions, and was just the perfect guide for this kind of trip. He made it for us for sure! 10/10 would do another experience with you all again! Loved it!Written 3 October 2024
- liel28970 contributionsAwesome trip !Our guide was sweet, informative and funny! The whole trip was such a joy, with 3 beautiful stops and landmannalaugar as the main part of the day. We decided to climb to the highest point of the mountains, and then returned back to the group. Overall, totally worth it, great adventure!Written 14 September 2024
- Tour428243535940 contributionsMust do trip!!This trip was everything we expected and more. Einar, our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating to everyone in the group. The drive is long but so worth it and the dip in the natural geothermal pool after the hike was amazing. The valley of tears is stunning and the additional bonus of a stop off at hjalparfoss on the way home was an added bonus.Written 14 September 2024
- acex1230 contributionsScenic Off the Beaten Track Trip - Highly RecommendedThere is much off-road travel that gets you to some of the best off-the-beaten-path natural scenery. Our guide took us on a 1.5-hr hike in Landmannalaugar that cuts in between beautiful, colorful mountains and past giant lava fields. Other stops include amazing waterfalls, lakes, and rivers. There were many incredible views on this trip.Written 26 August 2024

So knowledgeable, funny and kind helping us with all our request whilst also sharing Iceland history, culture and music along the ride. He was also very great at keeping people informed and in non-hazardous areas but allowing us to still see lots of gems, especially when on the Glacier so I felt very safe. Thank you so much Bessi! Amazing trip - what a day! Einar was a wonderful guide, extremely friendly and welcoming and with lots of detailed, interesting information about the various landmarks we visited. The spectacular waterfalls each have their own myths and legends which make for great stories. The black sand beach was unlike no other and a real geological treat to see the mass of basaltic columns that form the back drop to the famous Game of Thrones. The glacier hike was the highlight of the trip. Einar provided all the equipment that we required and even set up a belay to the edge of deep crevasses for us to gaze into. Scrambling up through the toe of the ice blue glacier coated with back ash was stunning and so memorable.
We felt confident and safe with Einar and we could not recommend this trip more highly! Glaciers and Waterfalls were a very professional company that put our best interests at heart, from amending the trip to suit the weather to strong communication about pick up arrangements.
This trip provides the opportunity to experience scenery and activities like no other and on a much more intimate level compared with standard coach tours.
Thank you, Einar!

Had an amazing experience on this trip. Thomas was our guide and he is so knowledgeable with a great sense of humour.
We were a group of 8 and it is the perfect size. Smaller groups definitely gives you a better experience. Thomas answers all the questions we had about the history and geography of all the places we went to. He makes great effort connecting the group as well whilst we were on the road.
The itinerary was just right, we were given enough time (not too little and not excessive) to explore the 2 waterfalls and black beach. Highlight of course is the glacier hike itself, Thomas is a very responsible guide and made sure we understood all the safety concerns and things to note whilst hiking the glacier. We even tasted fresh spring water on the spot!! It was A LOT of fun.
The pick up was very punctual unlike some other big tours. The vehicle itself was super comfortable and spacious, the gears that we were given to use were in great conditions.
Can’t recommend this tour enough. Definitely value for money

I had an amazing experience on this trip with Einar Samuelsson, our driver and guide, who shared lots of information and safety instructions without making it dull. The waterfalls and black sand beach were great but the highlight was definitely the glacier hike! We were all kitted out with the provided safety gear and felt very professional as we made our way onto the ice. Einar clearly knew what he was doing and where he was going, which put me at ease. The small size of the group meant that there was space for everyone to get good photos and see what Einar was talking about. You definitely need a reasonable level of fitness to get the best out of this trip (the steps at the first waterfall are rough!) but I would recommend it to those who want to see some of the beauty of Southern Iceland.

The Hike on the Glacier is the best activity and highlight of the day. Second best is both the waterfalls. Black sand beach was ok. We had Thomas as our guide who is not only very professional in his job, but also very friendly , cool.and considerate. As a professional ice climber and instructor you can get some extras which you may not get elsewhere. He also gives you enough time. Glacier hike is not hard or steep, anyone can do it and will enjoy the hike, lot of stops to rest amd tske photos. The tour company Glaciers and Waterfalls are very professional, operate only with smaller groups of 12 ( instead of 19 like others) for the same price , so there is more comfort in the bus and easy to care each and everyone.. Highly recommended.

This was literally awesome! Glacier walk followed by the black sand beach and the waterfalls. Stunning scenery, and loads of interesting info from Einar. I was with my 12 year old daughter and we both loved it. Can also recommend the veggie burger and vegan salted caramel cake at the beach restaurant.

We went on a couple of day trips while in Iceland and can easily say that the guide and the group make the trip even better — this was an amazing trip in and of itself, but our small group with our awesome guide, Marcel, made this so unbelievably memorable.
Marcel chatted with us during the 3-hour drive, sharing information about Iceland and the countryside, but also just generally talking with the group and getting to know everyone. We stopped at plenty of places along the way for snacks and bathrooms - Marcel always told us when we should definitely grab a snack or take a bathroom break because maybe there wouldn't be a stop for a while.
The waterfalls were gorgeous. The black sand beach was very cool. But the highlight, hands down, was the glacier hike. We hiked on a freaking glacier! It was such an amazing experience. We walked through an ice tunnel, hiked maybe half a mile onto the glacier, took a break and even drank water straight from the glacier! Marcel stopped often to take photos for us, which means we have lots of wonderful photos from our trip that aren't just me attempting to take a selfie or harassing strangers. ;)
This trip was so fun and well worth the money.
Pro-tip: Pay the extra money and do a small group trip. It's worth it. You meet people from all over and the experience of the small group is vastly superior to the large tour buses that can only go so many places.

Really great tour yesterday with Vala as a guide. She was bang on time for pick up, friendly and smiling and spent time getting to know every single person in the group. She was really informative, answered everyone’s questions including not just about the places we were visiting but Icelandic life and traditions as well. Being in a small group made for a great experience as everyone felt comfortable talking to each other and helping one another. I loved the glacier hike which was my main reason for booking the tour - I’m an experienced hiker but totally rubbish when it comes to doing “practical” things like adjusting harnesses etc - Vala was so great at helping me without me feeling awkward with that part, as well as the rest of the group and made sure we were all kitted up safely. The hike keeps you moving and warm, she was great with giving lots of photo opportunities, sharing interesting information and was patient with any members of the group who fell behind and waited with a smile or helped as appropriate. Everyone came off the glacier smiling! At each stop she was always ready in the minibus so you could take as long or little time at each place as you needed - this was the only tour I did where this happened and it was lovely to have the option to return to the warm bus whenever you’re ready and relax there, rather than have to wait until the meet up time for each visit’s completion. The schedule was well arranged with the waterfall you go behind saved until last as it’s wetter, and the heating on the bus was turned up a little warmer to help us all dry off, and checked in with us regularly if we were comfortable. Overall awesome day!

Vala was a great guide with a well thought out tour of the black sand beaches, glacier and waterfalls. The tour gave ample time at each destination with plenty of pit stops. We booked via the tourism centre in the centre of Reykjavik and would highly recommend this trip and Glaciers and Waterfalls 👍

From the beginning of the trip Einar (the guide) kept us entertained with his great sense of humor and well versed knowledge about Iceland and it’s history. He was also very professional and would stop regularly during the hike and heed to any asks to stop. Overall it was a great day, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun day across Iceland.

We had the most amazing experience doing this trip. The tour guide we had was Einar and I have to say I felt very confident in his expertise and knowledge. In addition he was a great guy who took the time to answer all our questions and did not make a slow walker like me feel bad. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone visiting Iceland as it is such a great experience and luckily for us we had a great group of people to share it with. Just be warned it is a long day, so possibly not the best trip to start your holiday with like we did. A huge thank you to Einar for taking such good care of us all and working what must be a very tiring day to enable us to have the experience of a lifetime.

How difficult are the hiking trails or glacier walk? We have 4 couples (2 early 60's, 1 mid 60's, 1 late 60's) all in reasonably good health.
Thanks

I will be very honest. I’m 64 years old and work out every day (at least when I’m home). Unless you are I. Very good condition, you may want to find a tour that does not demand as much physical stamina. We were on the glacier for over an hour. Hope this helps.

Hi, is there a particular type/standard of hiking boot required for the cramp-ons during the glacier crossing?

Hi, no specialised hiking boots needed ..the guide has a range of crampon sizes that he/she will help you fit into.
