About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annemF9520SA0 contributionsBeyond My Wildest Dreams Come TrueMicheala was a fabulous tour guide. This was our second attempt with East West our first night 2 days before it was cloudy and no lights and our tour guide felt bad. Micheala told us all low expectations and let's hope for the best. She sure knew where to go on a clear night. The information she gave us all was outstanding. She said she was Northern Lights nerd. Well guess what so am I and being from AZ I've never had so much great information of the Northern Lights. When the Red's started to dance she was excited and I was beside myself. I would ask for her group and you won't regret it! A 2:30am return meant nothing I was on a natural high from the lights after being up for close to 20hours. Thanks so much Micheala low expectations made my bucket list complete. Such a beautiful night of the lights dancing. Also a bonus restroom break was a added bonus!Written 5 October 2024
- Roam220705099880 contributionsGood tour - Nature showed up for us that night + great tour guideMarecelo was a great tour guide! Knowledgable, friendly, skilled with the DSLR. He knows the places to go for seeing the Northern Lights. We had the best show of the month, he said - Sept 2024. The sky was lit! :)Written 4 October 2024
- 2010FreeSpirit0 contributionsA tour that deserves more than 5 stars! If I could give me experience more than 5 stars, I would. Our guide, Ionut, was the best and he knew exactly where to take us to amazingly faze in awe at the Northern Lights. He made an unexpected last stop when he spotted the NL from his side mirror and that was the most breathtaking sight of the night. He was patience in taking photos to ensure they captured the beauty of the lights & because my Samsung was useless, I am really looking forward to receiving the photos as promised within a day or two. Thanks for helping me tick off one on my bucket list.Written 4 October 2024

- pooleblondie20140 contributionsThe perfect tour with the perfect guide, Mona.An amazing tour. I can’t believe how much we saw throughout the day. Everywhere we went was perfect with enough time to enjoy every place we visited. The lunch at the tomato farm was such a fantastic experience. So pleased we chose this tour. The best part was our tour guide Mona. She was not only very knowledgable but such a bubbly, kind lady who took the time to make the day perfect. Thank you so much Mona for going over and beyond to make our day so incredible.Written 2 October 2024

- nicholasr7940 contributionsGreat sites. Loud guide.Monica (aka Mona) from Hungary with shoulder length red hair was our guide. She was too loud and talked too much with too much of her personal information. She was very energetic and nervous, but it was a tough day. She had to make a detour around a Palestian protest group to pick up the last part of our group, police pulled her over to check her license, and search and rescue team at black sand beach caused her to abruptly evacuate us in a panic. Her driving scared us with swerves, sharp turns, and running over the warning ridges. She waved one hand around while she drove and pulled up photos on her cell phone to show us while driving. Her English was pretty good, but I coulnd't understand about 10% of what she said. She was very considerate and nice to all of the passengers. She played some nice music, but it too was too loud. Loved the waterfalls. Would have like more time at the black sand beach, but if had to be evacuated could we have driven to a safe distance viewpoint? We had no interest in the plane crash site that Monika substituted for the black sand beach. The minivan was cramped without enough leg room. The Bistro restaurant was delicious, but would've like to have meal and/or snacks included in the tour price. The tour was a bit too long. 8 hours would've been better than 10 hours.Written 30 September 2024

- lisawB3090TF0 contributionsUnbelievable!Leroy from EastWest Tours was a fantastic guide for our Golden Circle tour in Iceland. While Iceland is stunning on its own, Leroy’s wealth of knowledge and fun personality truly elevated the experience. He shared fascinating insights about the landscape, history, and culture, making every stop more meaningful. I’d gladly book another tour with him and highly recommend EastWest Tours!Written 30 September 2024

Our guide, Leroy, was friendly, understanding, and professional. The sprinter was comfortable and the small group of 16 made the trip more enjoyable. We had a good amount of time to hike and take pictures at each location. Highly recommend!Written 29 September 2024

- Angie T0 contributionsUnforgettable experienceWe booked the tour rather last minute based on local guide’s recommendation. East West was accommodating and we were about to join the tour with no fuss. Our guide Sævar is very knowledgeable, I had learnt so much about northern lights through the 3-hour trip, where we caught some spectacular light show — said to be the best in September. It was an unforgettable moment, and S’s dedication just made it a better experience. I would strongly recommend everyone to go with them.Written 29 September 2024

Where to begin? This tour was AMAZING and exceeded my expectations by far! We had Baldur as a guide and probably that’s the part I loved the most about the experience, he is funny and knows a lot of stories and facts about the places we visited and would tell them in the nicest way during the trip. He really made us feel welcome and part of the family, I’d go on a tour with him even if he was just showing around a new supermarket downtown. But that wasn’t all, the lunch was delicious and I must admit I had a hard time getting up after it because of how full I was, and the best part about it was the homely atmosphere we experienced. The tour is perfectly organized and each stop well timed and worth experiencing, bonus point again to Baldur who managed to make some amazing extra stops here and there to get us to experience even better this amazing peninsula. I would recommend this to whoever wants to experience a tour both in Snæfellsnes peninsula and in the true soul of iceland, with stories from Baldur and a home lunch which I’ll dream about for a while.

What a wonderful review, thank you so much for all the lovely words you wrote for Baldur and our tour - it really means a lot to all of us. Of course, we have made sure that Baldur got the compliments he deserves, he is such a passionate and talented tour guide. The lunch stop at the horse farm is something we really take pride in and it adds a lot to the tour so travelers can really immerse themselves in a true Icelandic experience. If you come back to Iceland, we would love to have you on tour again!

Fabulous experience -- our guide, Dagur Gunnarsson, elevated this day-long tour to perfection, despite some rather wild shifts in weather. With him at the wheel or leading the walks down to the sea and hidden waterfalls, telling us stories about Iceland's history, daily life and related cultural references we were never bored but not overwhelmed with information either. Having worked in the tourist industry in the US, I give him top marks as a tour guide who can judge what his group wants to do or hear about and adjust quickly.

Petra is an excellent, knowledgeable and friendly guide. She made a point of getting to know each group as they boarded the Sprinter. The tour was well timed - we even dodged the showers!
Petra was very focused on safety helping several people across a stream and making sure they were careful on the rocks at the seal stop.
The visit to the horse ranch and lunch were a highlight of the trip as we got to meet the farmers in a homely setting. Food was excellent.
After the short visit to the black church we went on to the coast to see the birds nesting in the cliffs. We also learned that Petra is a talented iPhone photographer and have some our best pictures of our time in Iceland.
The rest of the trip went to the iconic mountain and the impressive waterfalls. The final stop at the secret waterfall was a nice bonus.
Well done and thanks!

We’re glad you had a perfect tour with EastWest and to also hear that Petra added so much to it with her knowledge and personality. It's funny... she even worked her magic on the weather! haha.

This was an 11 hour day that was filled with beautiful sights and ended with a wonderful meal at a horse farm. Our guide was Hilli and he was very knowledgeable and you can tell that he really enjoys his job. He also kept us on time and the itinerary planned bathroom breaks very well. I would recommend this tour and this company to others.

We had the best day on this tour! Our guide, Simon, was so kind and gave us a lot of information about Iceland and Icelandic culture/history. The Snaefellsnes Peninsula was beautiful and so worth the longer trip from Reykjavik to go see it. Note that the roads on the peninsula are bumpy, so it's a less comfortable drive than other tours that don't go as far from Reykjavik. With that being said, we hit some terrible weather with rain/snow/sleet and poor visibility, and Simon drove expertly through it all even on the challenging roads. We were so relieved we hadn't rented a car and tried to drive ourselves--in fact we probably wouldn't have even been able to go in those conditions, but our guide made us feel completely safe and confident with his driving in difficult conditions. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour and want to go back ourselves someday in better weather! Even in poor weather, it was beautiful and we got so much out of the day!

I’m not sure that we can say any
more than all the other glowing reviews but we can absolutely confirm that they are true! We just got back from our day trip with Petra as our guide and what a day it was. Stunning scenery; an experience we will never forget. Back to Petra, we felt completely safe in her extremely capable hands and both agreed that her narration took it to another level. Memories made. Takk takk Petra!

Absolutely fantastic tour with Dagger! He drove a small group of us through an unexpected snowstorm entertaining and informing us with Icelandic sagas and information. He deepened our respect for the culture and landscape. we ha a wonderful homecooked meal at a horsefarm and left satisfied. Bathroom breaks were well-planned. pickup was prompt. Dagger was open to any question. And we had a rare sighting of a Artic fox. Extremely satisfied this trip was better than i could imagine.

I live in Iceland and have been many times to Snæfellsness peninsula, but still wanted to pretend to be a tourist for a day and book a tour through EastWest.
Everything was perfect from A to Z, even though the weather was not perfect (it’s Iceland after all).
Petra, our guide for the day, was absolutely amazing, I would definitely recommend spending a day with her. She’s the most humble, sweet, interesting person I’ve ever met ! She knows a lot about Iceland and will keep you entertained the whole day, making sure everyone feels included in the group. She loves her job and we could definitely feel it ! She felt like a mom, a close friend even though we had met her a few hours ago. Professional, funny, excellent prononciation of Icelandic places and great driver.
And of course, the itinerary of the tour was perfect, enough stops to stretch our legs and we didn’t feel rushed to hop back in the bus (luxury bus by the way, extremely comfortable and with plugs for our phones).
The meal was super good, with different choices (vegan option too).
To sum it up: don’t hesitate and do not book with anyone else but EastWest.
Thank you again,
Salomé (What’s on) 😊

Our guide Dagur kept us entertained and interested as he expanded our knowledge of Icelandic culture and society as we drove along. He moved effortlessly from narrating sagas, to explaining to us about the particular myths of Icelandic Christmas, to Icelandic food and drinking culture, and even the peculiar history of TV in Iceland. The scenery is spectacular and the weather is, I learnt, to be embraced, as sunshine competed with a May snowstorm. The homemade meal at a horse farm was atmospheric and.delicious. It was well-organised tour and a great day out.

This was an amazing amazing experience and I have to say it’s all because of Petra!
She made what would have been a hop off and hop on tour into something so so fun and exciting and engaging. She kept us going with her energy and stories and awesome choice of music.
She’s also a fabulous photographer and will literally do everything she can to make sure your photo is fabulous.
A 10 hour tour felt like it was 3 hours long because of her and her alone.
We had a lovely meal at Lysulholl and had fun with the horses, saw awesome waterfalls, beautiful views and mystical mountains.
Can’t recommend her ans the tour enough
Petra was the cream to the coffee, icing to the cake and whipped cream to the ice cream.

Can you tell me what the meal consists of and at what point in the tour?
Written 18 July 2022
It is a home-cooked meal by the proprietor of a horse farm. The dishes will change trip to trip depending what she cooks, but there were plenty of options - meat stew, cheesy fish stew, pasta, salad, roasted veggies, with several chocolate offerings for dessert.

Does this tour goes to the stone bridge in arnarstapi?
Written 17 June 2019
Hi Jen and Matt
This particular trip did not - we were dropped off at the harbour for views towards the conical mountain. You could probably spend the whole day here and not see everything. Snaefellsness is such a vast area with so much to see that it must be difficult to pick an itinerary to suit everybody. You can walk a circuit to take in the bridge but this would take a bit of time. My suggestion would be to ask the tour company if this could be included as they may be flexible. Different companies have different itineraries so it may be worth emailing them to see if the bridge is included. We used EastWest booked through Get Your Guide. Have a great trip to this amazing area of Iceland.
Written 17 June 2019
hi how many people are on the tour. its just 2 of us going and we wondered how many other people there would be
Written 8 June 2019
We went by minibus operated by EastWest - total 19 which included a meal at a horse ranch. Found this to be OK as the places you visit are remote so there not too many people around. Coaches do this tour as well but are not as flexible as a smaller party. We booked through Get Your Guide website - the tour description should tell you the type of transport on a particular trip. Do try and go - it's awesome.

Try booking direct with the company - we travelled with EastWest but booked through Get Your Guide. We had a 19 seat minibus. Good luck.

Is the Snæfellsnes - Journey to the Centre of the Earth Tour a Minibus or a big Tour Bus? How many people will be on the tour?

Hi Guys, sorry for the delay in replying. We had a minibus for our tour (19 of us). I think this allowed for more flexibility on how long we stayed at a particular site. It also added to the atmosphere as you get a better sense of how remote some of these places are. The top of Saxholl Crater would seem very busy if 50 people were on top at the same time! We used the website "Get Your Guide" - which acts as a central booking point for most of the tour companies and it should tell you whether it is a coach or minibus. Our minibus was run by EastWest. Hope this helps.

Do you offer vegetarian / vegan options for lunch? Is there free wifi offered? Is there a lot of walking involved? Would someone using a walker and a knee problem be able to enjoy this tour?

The guide will ask if there are any dietary requirements early into the trip and will then phone ahead. There was free WiFi on the minibus. With regards mobility issues, there is some walking involved, but there are stops where the scenery is breathtaking. The bus parks close to the basaltic cliffs - no walking necessary. Church mountain - to get the best views you need to follow the rubber walkway. You should be able to get close to the waterfalls but there is a climb after that. Crater - steep climb on steps to get to the top but location is beautiful even if you stay at the bottom. Black beach - bit of a scramble but there is a short walk where you can look out over the beach. Arnarstapi - no issues, a short easy walk and you overlook the bay. Horse ranch - easy walk from restaurant to stables. I am sure you will enjoy the trip if you decide to go.
