Discover the only place in the world where you can snorkel between two continental plates on this snorkeling excursion in Iceland's Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. No diving experience is required and all necessary equipment, including an insulating dry suit, is provided. Receive personal attention from your PADI divemaster-certified guide on this small-group tour and enjoy a seamless experience by selecting an optional pickup from your Reykjavik hotel.
What to Expect
Choose to get picked up from your Reykjavik hotel or make your own way to the meeting point in Thingvellir National Park. Meet your PADI divemaster-certified guide who explains the procedures and demonstrates important safety measures.

With the help of your guide, don your provided dry suit and snorkel equipment and get ready to discover the underwater world of Silfra—a rift between the North American and Eurasian continental plates. Enjoy heightened visibility in these clear waters, where you can see more than 328 feet (100 meters) in front of you. While the water is cold year-round, you are kept warm and dry inside your insulating dry suit.

Afterward, toast the experience with a cup of hot chocolate before bidding farewell to your group. If you chose an option for hotel pickup and drop-off, enjoy transportation back to your accommodations.

Unforgettable Experience

I really enjoyed this experience. I did it in September. We were given the option of a drysuit or a wetsuit and most of us chose a drysuit. The drysuit keeps you pretty warm, except for your mouth and hands, but you get used to...More

Awesome experience, awesome guide

We geared up in several layers for the dry suit. Initially this made me nervous because I worried the weight would make it difficult to swim, but quite the opposite is true. The suit is extremely buoyant so you can practically float the whole time,...More

Brilliant day out (from Scott in the UK)

Went on this trip with adventures Vikings and chose to do the wetsuit rather than dry suit which was cold but bearable and very enjoyable. Fantastic experience and Hamer (hope I spelt it right) was outstanding. You won’t understand how clear it is until you...More

Glacial Water Snorkel Experience

Adventure Vikings was great! They claim to be the only provider who offers wetsuits in addition to the dry suit for the Silfra snorkel. I think I was glad I chose the dry suit! It was my first time in a dry suit and I...More

Not sure if it actually took 5 hours... it is a bit of a drive and you must put all of your gear on and take it off which takes some time too since the water is very cold.
