About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Inspire477851273100 contributionsPerfect way to see iceland, saw so much of this beautiful countryTook the 3 day tour of golden circle, south coast and glacier hike. What an experience. Even lucky enough to see the northern lights. Guide was great. Saw so much of this beautiful country. However, the accent and microphone made it a challenge to understand. Please note when they say waterproof gear they are not kidding. Head-to-toe waterproof, especially on the glacier hike. It rained most of the day. Brought knitted gloves instead of waterproof ones. No jeansWritten 7 November 2024
- paulamH6560JJ0 contributionsGreat experience! We did several tours with Arctic Adventures and this one and the snorkeling tour were our favorites. Our driver on the first day, Lili, did a great job in showing and explaining us the things we saw on our way to the glacier as well as giving us insight into Iceland/Reykjavik (spots to see, food, public pools etc.) Although there were several tours from other companies that day we did not have to wait long to get to the glacier and start climbing. Basia, our guide, took good care of us, making sure we didn't get cold and showed us other interesting formations in the glacier. We loved the snorkeling a lot and our guide Weronika made sure we are ok and that we can manage the 30 to 40 min in the cold water. But since there is only one spot to enter into the water and multiple tours at the same time who do this activity, we also had to wait for a bit to get in. Another thing is, that the same spot is not only for snorkeling but also for diving so we had to wait even a bit more because you can't snorkel on top of the divers. Since we could have even two thin warm layers underneath the warm and the dry suit most of the body stayed relatively warm. The only parts that will be cold are your hands and feet. If I was to do the same tour again, I would take thicker socks or even two pairs of socks (one of them being wool socks) to keep my feet warmer (I only had thin socks). Also, for people with longer hair.. it will get wet. Wear it in a low ponytail and take a comb to fix your hair afterwards ;)Written 6 November 2024
- Vacation593449332240 contributionsLinus made a memorable experienceThis trip had been in my bucket list and we finally made it happen. I chose Arctic Adventures based on the reviews I saw online and the company did not disappoint. The booking system was smooth, the booking management on my own profile was even better. I emailed back and forth with the customer support team for queries I always have ( not that the information was missing or anything) is just a thing that I have to double check :) and it was always very attentive. Also, I changed my pick up location last minute by calling them, and they where supper nice and fast! Now the country itself is just amazing, Linus our guide made the whole trip even better! He was very knowledgable, friendly and made the whole group to feel like we have meet before. It was such a nice experience to travel around the island with my husband and other 12 people that ended up being our friends at the end. The bus is very comfortable, safe and spacious. I would highly recommend this company and this tour to anyone who wants to experience Iceland in a nutshell.Written 6 November 2024
- susanmG5130VY0 contributionsHighly recommend this tour and our guide, VjeranWe did a 6-day tour of the Ring Road with Vjeran as our tour guide. He followed the itinerary and as he drove us to each place, he provided a lot of interesting background information (historical and geological) about each site we visited. In addition, he took us to many other places that were not on the itinerary and just as impressive and less crowded than the postcard variety. Each one of the 13 people in our tour group was happy that he did. Vjeran was very supportive and outgoing, and made sure to stop for groceries, snacks and meals, as well as much needed bathroom breaks. We saw so many beautiful natural sites, much of which I would not have found on my own if I had to drive myself, which was another great benefit on this tour. There were stretches of two-lane mountain roads that were steep, winding, and snowy, and he drove us around with skill and confidence, and I was grateful that I didn’t have to drive on this road trip. Arctic Adventures’ small group tour had us riding in a passenger van with a trailer hooked on the back for our luggage. Not every seat was filled, so there was plenty of room for each passenger and we were all very comfortable. Some of the highlights included: the Northern Lights almost every night, Geysir, Kerið Volcanic Crater, Eyjafjallajökull, Reynisfjara Beach and sea stacks, Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, Diamond Beach, Jökulsárlón Glacier lagoon, Seyðisfjörður (charming town with the little blue church and rainbow road), Lagarfljót, Námafjall Hverir (volcanic geyser vents), Mývatn baths, Akureyri, whale watching tour in Dalvik, Sturlureykir Horse Farm, and of course many impressive waterfalls like I’ve never seen before. Highly recommend this tour and our guide, Vjeran.Written 6 November 2024
- Flyer4388170 contributionsExcellent trip with a wonderful guideReally great trip. Our guide, Ensci was excellent. Really knowledgeable and encouraging to the whole group. She instilled a lot of confidence to the nervous members of the group It was fantastic to be able to walk on the glacier and would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Iceland!Written 5 November 2024
- Olivia_Abroad0 contributionsGreat guide, interesting tourOur guide, Alex was knowledgable and friendly. The glacier landscape was stunning and the ice cave was really interesting. I would have preferred if some of the geological explanation was done inside as it was very cold to be standing outside! Overall I enjoyed the tour and on the way back Alex played some great Icelandic music for us and we drove along the black sand beach, which was really cool.Written 4 November 2024
- johnathanc6980 contributionsHighlight of the tripHad an excellent scuba experience. The equipment were new and clean. They have a heated van for you to change into the dry suit. Our guide Wilmar is excellent. He kept us safe and is a very funny man.Written 4 November 2024
- Elizabethb618800 contributionsTime of My LifeHad the time of my life on this tour! I travelled solo along the south west coast for a week and while there were MANY highlights this one was among the top. Our guide, Vallou (sp?) was THE BEST. He made the tour so special with his zest for life, knowledge and stories, demonstrations and humor. The tour itself was a gem but Vallou made it even more special. Highly recommend!Written 4 November 2024
- Sơn T0 contributionsSTAY AWAY!!! Be carefulStay away from this company, all advertising is false. I had an accident and needed assistance from the switchboard but no one answered the phone. They said the 24/7 service is all fake, they only know how to take money and do not create conditions for someone who is new to Iceland and has bad luck like me. You should consider another company in case you encounter an unfortunate situation and have someone to support youWritten 3 November 2024
- Jet7114550 contributions95 minute wait for pick up.Booked for a 8:30 pick up, and was instructed to arrive 30 minutes before. This lands us scarfing down breakfast and making our way to our bus stop at 7:50A. We proceeded to have at least 25 buses come and go, picking up everyone but us. This process is frustrating since the moment any tour bus pops up, everyone bum rushes the driver and if you don’t get there in time you miss the name and then the door closes and they drive away. This naturally is creating anxiety for everyone involved. At 8:45 I call AA and they say my driver is on the way. Mind you it’s 34 degrees outside at a bus stop we have now waited an hour for. And we then proceeded to wait another 35 minutes. Once we were on the bus, the driver was apologetic and said he was called in an at earlier start time and he didn’t realize he needed to do his job until 8:44a? He said he would Make up time and he was sorry. We were told on the phone, on the email, on the website to have patience for up to 30 Minutes after the start time.. and I think I had beyond that. I was picked up at 9:20a. Allowing myself the extra ten minutes because nobody told me to do that. I waited a total of an hour and twenty minutes at a bus stop. The experience was nice, the instructors were kind and knowledgeable. The driver dropped us off closer to our hotel which was kind. But at the end of it this morning I received an email asking me to review my snorkel experience and it says my start time was 10a…. Now this is absolutely false, and really pisses me off. I was going to chalk it up and let it go but if you want a review then here it is. I’m sure if I wasn’t at my stop for the 30 before or after like they were asking over and over they wouldn’t have tracked me down and found me. If they just called in the bus driver the minute I called them they should have been honest and up front. It would have allowed us a chance to go get warm, grab a coffee, something. But I had to stand around for another 35 minutes. Once again the divers were kind and informative, and the stars are no reflection of them.Written 3 November 2024
- Jamaka1230 contributionsOUTSTANDINGWe did this as an eight day private tour with 14 of our family members and it was AMAZING. We mostly followed the outline of the non-private tour, but made some adjustments of our own to customize it. The hotels were chosen, mostly by Arctic adventures ,and all of them were great. There’s a lot of driving time on this tour, but the van was comfortable and had very reliable WiFi . The scenery throughout the country is so diverse and beautiful, that the time on the road was very relaxing. And I was so glad we chose to go in September because the fall colors throughout the country were breathtaking . We even had a snowstorm one day where we watched the mountains turn to white and the contrast between the white mountains and the black lava fields and the beautiful fall ground cover with something that will never forget . But what really made this tour outstanding was our tour guide VJ. He made a great trip even better! He was adept at handling any little hiccups that arose throughout the tour. He was very good at reading the needs of our group with lots of stops for us to pick up necessities like food and beverages as we needed them and plenty of bathroom breaks. He also went out of his way to make sure he was getting plenty of our group photos and was our personal selfie stick throughout the tour. He had a vast amount of knowledge to share about his country and the diverse landscape that we were experiencing, which added to our experience in a way I didn’t expect. I was the one that had arranged this tour for my family, so I was very vested in making sure it all went well and it became very apparent to me at the beginning of the tour that we were in great hands and that I was able to just relax into the tour , knowing that VJ truly cared about us having a great time. By the end of the tour, he really felt like he was part of our family and not just our guide. So thank you to Arctic adventure and Vj, for allowing us to experience Iceland in such a magical way, on a trip that we will never forget.Written 3 November 2024

He made everyone feel safe and inspired confidence. He gave us all the opportunity to step safely out of our individual comfort zones and feel a sense of accomplishment. - Safiaelena0 contributionsThe Experience of a Lifetime!I’ve been on many tours all over the world but this was EASILY the best one I’ve ever participated in. There’s no doubt that Iceland is a stunning country- there were countless breathtaking sites along the course of this trip- but it was made a million times better through the expert eyes of our guide- Vjeran. Vjeran’s passion truly infused our tour with magic, keeping us all engaged and excited throughout. Not to mention, he went above and beyond by squeezing in extra stops along the way- a couple of which really ended up being some of my favourite places. As far as that aspect goes: 10/10! The tour itself was wonderful! The destinations included in the itinerary leave you wanting nothing by the end of the trip. You’ll be immersed in everything that this beautiful country has to offer from the city to the countryside, to the highlands, to the glaciers…. I could go on and on. It was so easy to be present in the moment. If you love nature, then seriously consider this tour. Overall this experience exceeded my expectations. I always thought this would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but I’ve already started planning my second visit. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer! It was an emotional departure as our group became very close by the end of the 6 days, but the memories and friendships made will be cherished for a lifetime. 10000000% recommendWritten 2 November 2024
- danieldG1684HW0 contributionsAn experience I will be repeatingWe took a climbing tour in the glacier which I can't pronounce. Our tour bus guide, Lili, was incredible. She was informative, professional and also very funny! We had several questions about Iceland, it's history and what she recommmends. We got fantastic insider tips. On the glacier Basia was our guide. Super fun! We didn't only climb, we learned and shared a lot. These guides are genuinely inove with Iceland and love sharing their enthusiasm and passion. Can't wait to come back!Written 2 November 2024

Words cannot even describe how memorable this trip was, it was such an incredible experience. Our trip was 2 different tours combined into one. Our tour guide Mitch was our driver/guide for both tours, we had 5 people only on the bus for 2 days and then a total of 12 for the other 3 days.
The trip was amazing, Mitch would change up the plan slightly if the weather was bad and he would be always looking to add extra sights ( not on the itinerary) along the way. He seriously made this trip so much better than I ever dreamed it to be. He was always concerned for our safety, but also helping us to have the best experience in Iceland. We saw and experienced far more than we expected. he gave us all the background info on each site, factual and the folktales.
The time allocated to each sight was excellent. The hotels were very nice. Mitch was flexible and never once did he insist we needed to be back at the bus at a particular time to get to the next destination. I felt very relaxed and absolutely loved the various sights. Each day I thought we would be seeing just more of the same, but how wrong was I. Iceland is an amazing country with so many diverse and beautiful places to see and experience.
We have been raving about this tour since arriving home, and a few friends are already booking for next year after seeing our photos. I hate bus tours however this was so much different and well worth it. I highly recommend this tour. I can't thank you enough.

Well organised 5 day tour (2 +3) great guide (Nick), comfortable mini coach, regular comfort stops, good hotels. Unfortunately 'The Storm' curtailed latter 2 days - white out and blocked roads - but 'work arounds' and alternative indoor venues provided. Would love to go in summer and would use Artic Adventures.

The tour exceeded my expectations. It was packed with activities and clipped along at a steady pace. Arctic Adventures ensures its customers can see as much of Iceland as possible. Aron, our tour guide, is a native of Iceland and a licensed glacier guide. His expertise and love of his country colored our experience. He also tailored information to match our interests. I was interested in Icelandic folktales about the incredible land formations experienced on our trip and he made sure to tell stories about specific sites that included old Icelandic stories about ogres, hidden people, and other supernatural Icelandic characters.

Tour of a life time. My favorite part was the hike on Vatnajokull glacier. It was adventurous given it was windy and wet that day. The 5 day tour coverd south and western parts of iceland quite well and the tour guide Adolf was simply amazing!

The whole experience with Arctic Adventures made our first trip to Iceland an incredible experience!
First of all, our guide Gunnar should be retained by the company at all costs! He was all things: tour guide, chauffeur (even when winds were high), knowledgeable (regarding not only where to go, but when, so as to miss peak crowds), and he felt like an old friend even though we just met.
Your company takes all the stress out of traveling and sightseeing in a different country. We saw so much more and could sit back and relax knowing navigation, food, lodging, transportation, etc. was already taken care of. I couldn’t possibly do justice explaining the beauty and grandeur of the places we saw. I guess travelers to Iceland will just have to see it themselves. And if you’re going to see them, do yourself a favor and use this company. Hopefully, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet my new pal, Gunnar!

Despite quite adverse weather and road conditions, had a great trip (2+3 days, although some of it got cancelled). Amazing Vjeran (our tourguide) safely got us through all snowstorms. Our leisure was his pleasure (his motto, he also serving as our selfie-stick). But also amazing how the back office rebooked hotels and meals while we were on the road that were closed...
Too bad we missed out on the Northern Lights and the Ice Cave (the one we visited has collapsed several months before), but still enjoyed the landscape and everything.

Dear EmaFle,
Thank you so much for your feedback! We are really glad you enjoyed the tour. We are sorry to hear you had to miss out on northern lights and the ice cave. Unpredictable weather is something Iceland is, sadly, known for.
A special thank you for mentioning and complimenting our amazing guide. We are sure Vjeran will be very happy to read your review.
Looking forward to your next visit. Let's explore more of Iceland together!
Warm wishes from Iceland.

Words cannot even describe how memorable this trip was. Our trip was 2 different tours combined into one, so we had two different guides. We did the west coast & south tour with Katla Ice Cave on the last day. We cannot praise our tour guides enough, Kacper and Hilmar. They were knowledgeable, friendly, ensured we all stayed safe, and were easy to talk to. They gave us all the background info on each site, factual and the folktales. They made sure we had an amazing trip, and honestly they added to our trip! It wouldn’t have been the same without them and we would definitely book this tour again. Both went above and beyond for our group. We had just the perfect amount of time at each location, enough to awe at the scenery + take photos. The hotels we stayed at were so quaint. The Arctic Adventure hotel was my favorite - little cabins in the south coast with no light pollution & the most peaceful location. We got to see the northern lights 3 out of our 4 nights. So many sights were packed into each day without us feeling like we missed anything. 1000% recommend! Thank you so much Hilmar + Kacper, y’all gave us memories for a lifetime!

This tour was everything we expected and more! We packed a lot into the short days but it never felt rushed. Our guide Nick was awesome. He made sure we got the best photos, recommended delicious food, and answered all my questions (and there were many). I felt welcome and safe the whole time. I’m so glad we decided to book this tour instead of navigating through Iceland on our own.

In spite of challenging weather conditions, our resourceful and friendly guides managed to take us to most of the breath taking sights and provided plenty insights into the Icelandic cultural heritage. The accommodation with breakfast provided all that was necessary. Highly to be recommended!

Has anyone had their tour cancelled by the operator for any reasons? I know there is a cancellation policy if I was to cancel, but can’t find one that relates to when they have to cancel. I’d messaged them a couple of times but no response.....
Thanks!

I am interested in the above 5 day tour, my question is can we rent or buy waterproof pants, jackets and hiking boots from you or rent these on the day of departure. The TripAdvisor app does not allow me to book these things. Alternatively could I buy these at discounted prices from Reykjavik. Also when will I return from the tour on the last day 06 April 2019. Thank you.

When is the best time to go for the chance of seeing the northern lights? How many nights of the tour do we attempt to see the northern lights? Thanks!
