About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Switzerland19220 contributionsGreat tour. Great guide. Uncomfortable van.The tour was excellent, and so was our guide (Justin?). He was funny, told great stories (mostly true, and a couple of fables) and went out of his way to provide us with extras, like stopping for ice cream, and a surprise detour at the end. The 3 stops of the Golden Circle are a guaranteed hit (which is why every tour company does them), and the Secret Lagoon (not at all secret) was great. My only complaint is the van we were in. It was nice van, and very clean. But the seats are uncomfortably small for us taller guys. Not enough room for your knees, and the seats are narrow as well. If you're the least bit wider in the hips, the seat belt receptacle is going to remind you during the entire trip that... it's there. Diggin' into you. Also, the speakers. The driver/guide talks to everyone during the trip (mostly out), and explains what we're seeing, as well as where we're going. The speakers were pretty distorted. We missed at least a third of what he was saying. If we had been at the very front, it might have been better. But we were the last stop on the pickup, so we had no choice on where to sit. Fix the damn speakers!Written 18 September 2024
- helgar5750 contributionsGreat Golden Circle Tour!A great tour with an awesome group of people and an excellent guide, Rebecca. The Golden Circle included stops in Hveragerdi (unnecessary in my opinion), Kerid Crater (amazing), Gullfoss waterfall (impressive), Geyser (really interesting!), and Thingvellir National Park. It was an absolutely beautiful place, but the wind was super strong! Nevertheless, I enjoyed the views and the fun facts Rebecca shared with us. She was a great guide and super fun. She also accompanied the group on part of the hikes, which was great, as that gave us the chance to ask more questions! All in all, a great adventure! It took around 10+ hours to complete! The only reason I gave this tour a 4 is that the first stop really didn't add much, and I would have preferred if a different destination was added instead, something with a bit more to see (not a shopping mall, bakery and fisure from an earthquake)Written 18 September 2024
- kimmX8342SC0 contributionsA nice dayA good trip to experience the sights of Iceland for a first visit. The waterfall was breathtaking. The Secret Lagoon was a nice respite from the long ride in the mini bus.Written 16 September 2024
- DeniseR31910 contributionsA great day with a full itineraryThis trip provides a variety of activities and scenic locations to get a good overview of the region near Reykjavík. It was the perfect length of time running from 8am-3:30. The pick up point Bus Stop #6 was very convenient to the center of town near the Rainbow Road area. Alex, our tour driver guide was very informative and provided us with many important historical details regarding the areas we visited including the history of Iceland. So much more information than if you self drive the area. Sit back, relax snd enjoy the ride between several nice short hikes at the parks and waterfalls. Not only was Alex informative but he went out of his way to see that everyone’s needs were met. He even went out of his way to return items that we left behind on the bus after our tour after being dropped off. Thank you Alex!Written 16 September 2024
- SusieFerra0 contributionsGreat Day Tour of the Golden Circle! We had a great Golden Circle tour with this company. The small minibus was nice and comfortable and we had so many cool thoughts that it was nice to have only 15 people getting on and off each time instead of a large coach bus of people! Our driver, Mitch was fantastic and he gave us so much great info in Iceland and its people. In addition to all the regular stops, we also stoped to feed some Icelandic horses and get delicious ice cream from a local farm. We even did Fly over Iceland after the day tour because Mitch recommended it. We loved everything about our day!! Can't recommend this enough, and if you are lucky, ask for Mitch to be your guide! .Written 12 September 2024
- Holly J0 contributionsNot enough time at ThingvillarMost of the stops were good, but the stop at Thingvillar National Park didn’t include the best aspects of it: the waterfall, the church and Parliament, and the Lake. I had to go back a second time in order to truly enjoy the park. Instead the driver took us to a nondescript shopping center to show us fhe “divide” between North America and Europe. The driver made disparaging remarks about immigrants and tourists, not the best tour.Written 12 September 2024

- Z2189OQcharlottec0 contributionsGreat day out!Rebecca was great - funny and knowledgeable. We had a good amount of time everywhere without feeling rushed and the weather was amazing. Minibus is comfortable and the WiFi is pretty good too. A really great day out!Written 9 September 2024
- JaniceB21860 contributionsBeautiful sites weather cooperating. The tour components (falls, crater, park) were all stunningly beautiful. Must do stops when visiting Iceland. Unfortunately, the day we went was rainy and windy so that put a damper on our overall enjoyment. The minibus arrived just before 8:30 (for an 8 am pickup time, but to be fair, we were told it could be up to 30 minutes after the hour) so we started out a bit wet (even with rain gear in place). The minibus was small and cramped; 19 tourists got on leaving only one space in the bench seat across the back open. At every stop it was a struggle getting on and off the bus - not enough room. While we appreciated it was a smaller group (v the huge buses we saw at the sites) it was really crowded in our opinion. We were given adequate time the first few stops (given weather conditions didn't really want to be out for too long), but the last stop we were literally almost jogging just to see the falls and then walk back to the bus location. Just too rushed. This may have been due to one tour member who was constantly late while working his drone. The driver did speak to him, but he continued to be at least a few minutes late each time. The driver stopped at a tomato farm (thumbs up!) and a 'lava house' so those were an added enjoyable bonus. Defiantly take this tour but do it with open eyes.Written 9 September 2024
- Berlioz9740 contributionsSuper nice day, our guide Anastasia was a super informative person in addition to a safe driver ! 😊Although might be super touristic, a must do tour if you only stay few days in Iceland ! This tour gives you a super nice taste of the country.Written 9 September 2024

She really made the experience come alive by helping us to understand the history, culture, economy, language and society in Iceland. Thanks so much Marta for an unforgettable day.Written 8 September 2024

- Scenic7914750 contributionsFantastic Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon trip. This trip was fantastic. Our guide Rakel was so informative and knowledgeable regarding all the sites we visited. Throughout the ride she pointed out all the points of interest and provided geological information that was so important to the history of the area. The lagoon we went to was clean and a lot of fun. I highly recommend this tour.Written 6 September 2024
- D1141FSmarkh0 contributionsGood guide, poor vehicleThe tour hit the highlights and the guide did her best! The downside was the condition of the vehicle. The speaker and microphone for the driver was difficult to hear at best, the windshield was cracked, seat belt buckle on one seat did not lock and netting behind seats to hold customers items were torn. In summary the vehicle would be rated poor and in need of repair.Written 5 September 2024

Our fantastic guide Baldvin had many interesting stories and details about Iceland as we drove east to Vik and back. He answered a multitude of questions from the group. He even played some music to give us a variety of experience on the long journey including a delightful two minutes of Iceland rap music. The mini bus was very comfortable and even had Wi-Fi which several in the group utilized. This tour had quite interesting variety including two finales: walking very close to a glacier and the chance to walk and climb behind a waterfall. Baldvin made sure we were safe on the black beach of Vik where the waves are incredibly high and can be dangerous. This beach is very unusual and an interesting geological beach worth going to see. The tour from this operator (Your Day Tours?) with Baldwin P. included just the right amount of sightseeing with hotel pickup for a very reasonable price.

Highly recommend this company for the south coast tour (and other tours in the area).
We were collected at the bus stop right outside our hotel by Baldwin, who was entertaining and very informative for the entire trip. He did this best to avoid the large bus arrivals by adjusting the order of our visit and it worked.
Sights were very interesting, including the black beach, glacier and waterfalls. Wear warm and sensible clothing as it can get cold and icy. The guide provided spikes for our shoes that made a big difference and fit over normal walking/snow boots.
Really recommend the minibus instead of one of the other large bus trips, the volume of people on those looked like a nightmare. This was more personal and a more enjoyable experience. The guide was very accommodating and genuinely made the experience even more enjoyable.

We were picked up by Baldwin, and started our journey out of Reykjavík. He provided an interesting commentary of the surroundings area, ranging from Volcanic Eruptions to Bobby Fisher. He was able to adapt to the situation even when a snow storm arrived 3 hours earlier than forecasted, preventing the group from getting stranded. Overall a great day, with beautiful scenery and amazing stops.

South Coast small tour, you get Skogafoss, glacier visit, Seljandsfoss, Vik, Reynisfjara beach, in 10 hours (half of which is getting there and back). The glacier was more activity than I anticipated and a pay toilet but it was fine. Other than a few toilets through the trip which had no paper, they were very nice. The full doors and ledges for stuff were great upgrades to what we usually get in the US. Again our driver had a great attitude, good driving, wanted to give us a fantastic experience. This is where I was regretful we had to rely on the group timing and couldn't just stay at places as long as we wanted, but I don't feel I missed anything important. Again, crampons made the visits pretty easy for me. We didn't have any extra time at the Vik rest stop and the restaurant was slow, but the quality is way better than the greasy cold burger you may expect in the US for the same prices. Styrmyr was a fantastic guide.
I recommend using Guide to Iceland as a place to research what tours there are and then finding the direct vendor and booking directly. If you need to make changes or updates, it's best to have the direct contact. I really loved the small bus tours- the drivers were engaging, true Viking culture lovers, they sang, they told stories and jokes, they had great Icelandic playlists, anticipated and avoided crowds, wifi included and the small groups were easier to manage. The buses were a bit crowded, both our mid week tours were full, but comfortable. Many people left their bags on the bus during stops and felt secure.
The large bus tours are less expensive but you have to go to them rather than picked up where you are and won't have the fun in between stories we got. Worth it to me.
Two more tips- don't freak out until it's 15 min past the pick up time. It starts a half hour before but both days the pick ups didn't end until 15 min past, and we were the last pick up on the 2nd day. It just takes a bit more time and give some room. I had clear confirmations on my tours in email and it worked fine.
And the drivers seem to be happy to let you off in the city if you'd prefer that to going to your hotel. So you can ask to get off with another group or just at Hallgrimskirkja if you don't have stuff you need to drop off. That let us do some more city walking and get to dinner easier.

This trip was a fantastic day out. Our guide Tinna was so knowledgable and friendly, she gave us a lot of information and answered questions throughout the day but it was not overwhelming, we had lots of time just sitting in the minibus listening to music and watching the scenery.
The whole day was tailored to optimise our enjoyment, Tinna altered plans according to the weather which was extremely changeable as we moved around the island. Near Vic it was a snow and sleet storm, I was glad she was driving not me! At both waterfall stops we had sun and at the glacier it was very windy. So we got great Icelandic weather experiences too! Because we had all returned early to the bus in the snow storm we had extra time so she added a really cool stop by some red rocks to see pseudocraters.
Being on the minibus with only about 12 people was so much better than a big coach, it felt like a more personal experience. My favourite part of the day was the glacier - I had never seen one up close before and it was breathtaking.
Your bags are safe on the bus at the stops and you can get food at the bakery stop and the lunch stop, we also brought some snacks with us and some water. Top tip you should pay about 200ISK for the toilets in a couple of the stops (but we only had a card so just nipped in without paying which felt bad but when you’ve gotta go…..)
Overall I would recommend this trip 100%, I did the golden circle tour about 5 yrs ago with another company which was very good but this was better. April was a fun month to see Iceland also as more daylight and less slippery at the sights compared to my December visit (although frozen waterfalls in December were worth a visit).
Thank you Tinna and your day tours, we will be back!

Our tour guide Baldwin was informative, insightful, and truly cared about our experience at all the sights. He made sure we were one of the few buses at each stop so we didn't have to share the experiences with all the other tourists visitng the South Coast. This region of Iceland is just magnificent and we are so happy we had sunshine and no rain. Baldwin is a safe and courteous driver who made us feel at ease when we got some strong winds. We also liked the slip on crampons, very useful not only by the glacier but by the waterfalls as well :)

We selected this trip based on reviews and areas to be visited . Our guide and driver Baldwin, was professional and informative. He let everyone know what to expect and offered hints to enjoy each stop. Because the group of 15 was always on time, we were allowed more time at each stop. The black sand beach and basalt columns were incredible! I am impressed with this tour company and appreciate the attention to safety and the respect shown to the rich history of Iceland. We even got an introduction into Icelandic music!

These sights are a MUST SEE in Iceland. Truly gorgeous and our guide, Bara, was great! No complaints on the quality of the tour. However, the minibus was very cramped. My friend and I are both smaller girls and we were pretty squished together and had hardly any legroom so it was very uncomfortable, especially considering that you spend a lot of time driving to each location. Just a warning that if you have any health condition that makes sitting for longer periods of time challenging for you, I would recommend maybe finding a more spacious option.

Dear Kalika, thanks for your feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words on our guide and tour!
We are sorry to read that you might have felt cramped in our bus, as the legroom is the standard one for any 19 Seater Sprinter. Bigger buses imply much bigger groups and our preference was to keep our tours small and personal, with a maximum of 19 passengers rather than 50 or more. In this tour we also make sure that the longest drive between stops would not exceed 1,5 hr.
We hope you enjoyed our Country and will visit us again.
Best regards,
Bodi

Having been on a few tours in Iceland, this was hands down the best tour experience that we had. The difference between this and the rest was not the landscape but the fact that while on the tour, you felt much more connected to the 2locations that you were visiting, than just going to places, taking a photo and ticking a box. Having the smaller groups made a huge difference!
Baldwin was incredible as a guide and made us feel that we were being shown around the country by a long lost cousin who wanted to show you a bit of his life and heritage. The insight into Iceland itself was invaluable, and regardless of the (stunning!) scenery, Baldwin's stories made the trip worthwhile.
The little touches, like playing iconic Icelandic music, cracking a few jokes and a relaxed approach to time lines (though we ALL got back in time, every time, ironically) made the day relaxed and even more enjoyable.
And on top of that... The scenery! The stops that were chosen for this trip gave us such a wonderful experience of Iceland (completely different to the Golden circle) with every stop garnering a few jaw drops from us.
Do yourself a favour and book this trip.

We had looked through many many different tour options from many different booking sites and finally settled on this tour in part because of the recent reviews and photos and are so glad we did! We had a beautiful day and a wonderful driver who had the right personality. He told us so much about Iceland and the areas we toured but was not over the top or annoying at all. The size of the vehicle was perfect and it was comfortable and the wifi worked very well. The sites were unbelievable and breathtaking and we all felt like we had exactly the right amount of time at each stop. He was also very helpful with all of the bathroom locations etc. The glacier was spectacular and the black sand beach with the basalt columns extraordinary! Cannot recommend this tour enough!

What do you do if your hotel isn’t listed as a pickup? We are staying at The Swan House.

We looked for the hotel listed that was nearest to our hotel and then found the bus stop that was listed for it. It was super easy. Just make sure that you are at the stop a bit before your listed time. We found that busses were very punctual.

Does this tour allow you to walk on the glacier? We are staying 30 min north of Reykjvik. where is the best location for a pickup? We have10 in our group.
Written 30 April 2023
walking on the glacier requires specific equipment and a relevant tour guide. There are tours designed to encompass this but this tour was not including that.
