Fire and Ice Helicopter Tour from Reykjavik
US$1,191.43
Overview
Iceland is a landscape of cascading waterfalls and bubbling lava fields—and the best way to see it is from the air. Select a morning or afternoon tour, and save hours of hiking to land directly on the remote Þórisjökull glacier and in the Hengill geothermal area. Soar over natural attractions including the Glymur waterfall and the Thingvellir National Park. Cover a huge expanse of land efficiently by helicopter and admire the scenery from the skies.
What to Expect
Choose a morning or afternoon helicopter flight, then make your way to the Reykjavik Domestic Airport to begin your tour. Hop aboard your helicopter, then—with your pilot at the controls—take to the skies. Soar high over the Glymur waterfall—the highest in Iceland—and save hours of hiking as you admire the cascading torrent from the air.

First, land on the Þórisjökull glacier and explore the frozen landscape on foot. Here, enjoy fine views over the cracks and crevasses, and capture the glacial scenery on camera.

Return to the skies and head onward to the Thingvellir National Park. Gaze out over the rugged countryside from your vantage point in the air, and see the continental rift of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates—only fully visible from above.

Touch down for a second time in the Hengill geothermal area. Accessible only on foot or by helicopter, this remote valley is home to geothermal springs and bubbling mud pools that you can admire up close.

Afterward, return in comfort to your starting point at the Reykjavik Domestic Airport to conclude your tour.
