Overview
Take a walk through areas of Copenhagen that you might not find on your own during this guided walking tour of the city's off-the-beaten-path highlights. With a guide's commentary to help shape the group's understanding of the Danish capital's history and modern culture, visit the hip neighborhood of Vesterbro, a local homeless shelter, the Kødbyen neighborhood, the red-light district, and the Free State of Christiana.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group at a designated coffee shop in the super-hip district of Vesterbro. Follow your guide on a walking tour through the off-the-beaten-path areas of Copenhagen that help define its modern culture. At each stop, learn about its history and the role it plays in underground culture.

Visit a local homeless shelter to see the revolutionary way the city handles homelessness. Stop by the New Theatre to learn about the arts and culture scene and walk along the museum street of Absalonsgade. Swing by the historic Eliaskirken, which serves as a talking point for the evolution of the Christian religion in Denmark. Learn about the the city’s red- and green-light districts, and finish up in the self-declared Free State of Christiana. You'll walk away from the tour with a firm grasp on Copenhagen's vibrant counterculture and some ideas about where to explore further.

Best Guide ever, Martin

Interesting and enlightening with a touch of humour in the right places. Martin knows his stuff and the 2.5 hours flew by.

Exploring neighborhoods, learning about social issues

What a nice way to explore beyond the tourist sites/area. It was great to get out into some of the neighborhoods, all while learning a bit about the history of the areas and how they've dealt with some of the social issues. I feel like...More
