This 9+ hour tour took us to at least one place we hadn't read about that was quite interesting. Plopped in the middle of a cork tree forest was a field of huge, ancient granite boulders dating back 4000-6000 years, well before Stonehenge. The site had only been discovered in

My wife and I did this tour at the end of June 2019 and were very disappointed with the entire tour. We picked this tour because it didn't have wine tasting (my wife doesn't drink wine) so thought the olive oil would be interesting. The guide (Claudia) was pleasant but to be

Response from Renato P, Gestor de Relações Públicas at Small-Group Évora Day Trip from Lisbon with Olive Oil Tastings
    Responded 3 Jul 2019
Hello Mr. C. M., It is with a mixture of surprise and disbelief that we read your review of your trip to Évora. This tour is an authentic journey into the interior of the country and to secular traditions. The trip is relatively long to the Alentejo region, but it is very rewarding. It's a shame that you've gotten a less positive feeling about this tour. We have carefully read your review and despite having a negative idea of the tour and the guide, let me assure you that the professional in question has all the skills and knowledge to take any tour. There are hardly any questions asked to our guides who do not get answers, but we insist on never inventing them. In extraordinary cases, guides are instructed to postpone the response and seek a satisfactory answer from headquarters or other colleagues as well. There would be much to say about the Revolution, but possibly this is not the place to stretch ourselves with extensive explanations. However, there are several moments that have 'revolutionized' the country, but not all specialists in political science are in agreement with the term 'revolution' since in 1910 (in the transition from the Monarchy to the Republic) there was already a kind of proto democracy, there was freedom of vote to some extent (women weren't allowed) and speech (newspapers for instance). Many scholars even call the events in 1910 a 'coup' rather than a revolution and the event is commonly referred in Portugal as the Implementation of the Republic whereas in English it is known as 1910 Revolution. In relation to the oil proof, it is not true that you were 'dropped' off in a basement. There was a brief explanation of the various types of olive oil. Perhaps it may have lacked more depth about the explanations and that is a legitimate opinion. However your guide certainly did not leave the group for half an hour. Regarding how to taste the olive oil ... in Portugal we do not use toothpicks since the bread becomes too soggy to eat. We just wash the hands before the tastings or the meals and afterwards too. We regret once again that you had an experience below your expectations but we hope you can ride with us again and show you other equally amazing places. Best regards, Renato P.
