Overview
Florence is nicknamed the ‘Cradle of the Renaissance’ and it’s home to some of Italy’s most impressive Renaissance art and architecture. On this walking tour, you will not only discover famous Florence landmarks including the Baptistery, the Duomo, and Ponte Vecchio, but cross the river to explore the artisan’s quarter of Oltrarno and see how Florence’s art heritage is kept alive today.
What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Florence and set out to discover the city’s architectural masterpieces on foot. Hear about famous Florentine artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, and Giotto as you stroll around Piazza della Signoria, home to Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery, then continue to see the Duomo, Florence’s much-photographed cathedral. As you admire the magnificent cathedral, listen as your guide points out Brunelleschi's Dome and surrounding monuments such as Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery.

Pause to enjoy a coffee or gelato (included) at a local café, before crossing the river to explore the artist’s quarter of Oltrarno. Along the way, pass the beautiful Orsanmichele and St Trinita Churches, and take photos of the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Spend some time browsing the artisan’s shops, art galleries, and markets of Oltrarno, before ending your tour back at the departure point.
