Welcome to Venice Small Group Walking Tour with Basilica San Marco and Gondola Ride

A first-timer to Venice, or don’t know where to begin your explorations? Over the course of this small-group tour, you’ll experience many of the city’s top highlights: see the Rialto Bridge, visit St. Mark’s Square and St. Mark’s Cathedral, and enjoy a relaxing gondola ride. You’ll also explore areas of the city that many tour groups miss, from the sestiere of Cannaregio to the Rialto Fish Market.

What to Expect

This morning tour begins when you meet your guide at the Campo San Giacomo di Rialto. With only a small group for company, you’ll enjoy a personal discovery tour of Venice.

Your first stop is the Rialto Bridge: built in the 16th century, it’s the oldest bridge over the Grand Canal, and one of Venice’s most recognizable landmarks. While you’re there, peek into the Rialto Fish Market, and learn about the city’s one-of-a-kind culinary traditions.

Next, you’ll head to an area of the city many tour groups miss: the district (sestiere) of Cannaregio, home to picturesque, winding streets. Wander by Marco Polo’s House and continue onwards to the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, among other noteworthy sites.

The tour continues with a stop at St. Mark’s Square and St. Mark’s Cathedral. As you go, learn from your guide about Venice’s past as a medieval powerhouse, and how the city has evolved today.

Finally, finish the tour with a lengthy gondola ride along the Grand Canal, as well as the city’s quieter waterways.

As with all Walks of Italy tours I've done, provided an authentic sense of place through the eyes of a local that goes well beyond the tourist highlights. Great for adults and teenagers alike, thoroughly charming and entertaining guide.
