Visit Rome's best preserved Ancient temple and the tomb of Raphael. Explore one of the city's most beautiful churches home of the Inquisition that trialed scientist Galileo Galilei.

On this fascinating tour you will learn the ins and outs of the Pantheon and the Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, led by a local expert guide that uses multimedia tools and powerful reconstructions to make you travel back in time.
  • Avoid crowds and focus on Rome’s Pantheon and Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva
  • See the history of the two sites come to life through reconstructions
  • Learn about the creation of the Pantheon’s visually impressive dome
  • Choose a small-group tour with 15 people or upgrade to a private tour option
What to Expect
From Piazza della Minerva in Rome, stroll with your guide to the Pantheon. The temple is widely said to be one of Ancient Rome’s best-preserved monuments; hear its history as you explore inside with your guide. Gaze up at the huge dome, which has no visible vaults or arches to support it, and learn about the architectural achievement from your guide. Tear your eyes away from the open-air oculus, which illuminates the interior and rest them on the tombs of Rome’s bygone VIPs: The likes of Raphael and Queen Margherita were laid to rest in the Pantheon. From the ancient temple, walk across to the Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, a Gothic masterpiece built on top of pagan temples. Sculptures by Michelangelo and Bernini, 15th-century frescoes, and a Fra Angelico altar are just a few of the highlights. Your tour ends at the basilica.

Our tour was 9/7/19 at 10:00 am. Our tour guide (whose name I can’t recall) was excellent. Santa Maria was closed so he substituted the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, which was also wonderful. Highly recommend this tour.

Yes but it is a church, so play safe and make sure they are long shorts, most church's say no shorts, but as long as shoulders are covered and not "riggers" type short shorts you should be fine
