Overview

Italian passion and verve make for fantastic music, incredible food, and nightmarish traffic. Leave the driving to the experts and relax on this convenient trip to the hill town of Tivoli, and experience not one but two UNESCO World Heritage sites in just half a day with the help of a local guide. Choose between morning and afternoon departures for maximum flexibility.

What to Expect

Meet your guide and board your coach either at your central Rome hotel or near Termini Station. Learn about Tivoli’s history as you glide through the Roman countryside.

Your first stop is Villa Adriana (Hadrian’s Villa), once the holiday home of the 2nd-century Roman emperor, Hadrian. Stroll among the vast expanse of ruins, with their temples, baths, and theaters, and learn about daily life from your guide.

Hop back on the coach for the short ride to Tivoli’s second UNESCO-listed star: Villa d’Este. A masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, the 16th-century palace boasts glorious gardens with Baroque fountains designed by the master sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Relax as you ride back to Rome. Your coach can drop you at Termini Station, Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia, or Piazza della Repubblica.

Tivoli is worth the day excursion from Rome!

Site of Roman activity and now a Villa with gardens which included interesting statuary. Also fountains everywhere. There's a daily organ concert by the main fountain.

so disappointing

What promised to be a highlight of our visit to Rome turned into a huge disappointment 1)the tour is ambiguously billed as English and multilingual. The English portion was difficult to understand as the guide had a pronounced Italian accent. 2) the guide did not...More
