The worst guide for such a lovely place. I wish I could have gotten better info, his English& Spanish was terrible
This lovely place should have had a better tour guide. Our guide arrived late The group arrived there at 730-745am and our Guide got there at 7:55am and the Green line tours office never opened. The man from the Green line finally arrived at 8:20am to get us our bus.The most discouraging problem was our guide had to speak in 4 different languages and he didnt have a mastery of any language. The infohe gave was confusing and very basic

      Missed opportunity
Sadly, the bus was 2 hrs+ late. Was told there was a fire delaying drivers route. Either way it affected the trip. Was told we’d get free wine with lunch which true but didn’t compensate for missed time in Orvieto. When we arrived at this town we’re told we had 20 minutes. That was only enough time to see the church. I’m Assisi was given a two hr tour which was interesting but had less than .5 hr to spend on our own. So if one wants to really visit these towns this won’t work for you. On the flip side, the escorts were nice enough and while waiting met other interesting travelers that helped pass the time.

      Very average tour.
So much potential, so many issues. When visiting a new city, I love to see it by night on my first day so see it from a different perspective, enjoy the lights and do some scouting as to where I’ll spend my time the next couple of days. We booked this tour which departed on time from Roma Termini, although the indications are not super clear as to where to catch the bus. We headed to Eataly where we had about an hour to spend. Plan to either shop or eat but doing both is unrealistic based on time of day (most counters are closed) and time allowed. We then proceeded to the night tour. Could we view some sites at night and enjoy it? Absolutely. Is the bus comfortable? Decently although there was a “plastic” rooftop which did not give the full feel of being on a double-decker. Did we understand what we were looking at? Not at all. Most of the audio commentary did not match the route and we were told to “look at our right” but there was nothing to look at and it was confusing more than anything else. We got the 15euro deal from their site and therefore I was not that disappointed in the average experience but I have had much better experiences than this one.

      Beautiful towns and scenery
Orvieto and Assisi are beautiful and it made for a great day despite the rainy day. Regarding the tour, we had reserved a Spanish tour, the tour escort Jenny was very pleasant and nice but spoke no Spanish and her English was very limited and hard to understand. She spent the whole day including lunch talking to the bus driver non-stop (almost felt like white noise in the background). It would’ve been nice to have her point out some of the beautiful scenery and towns that we went by during the ride. We had no information on Orvieto and seems that she was not familiar with the itinerary because we asked about a monument and she didn’t know what it was. Our guide in Assisi was very good but she rushed through the visit taking us at a very fast pace through everything even though we had an extra hour of free time. The lunch was ok even though didn’t even include water. The farm was nice and rustic but probably not worth the extra time to get there especially since we didn’t know what was special about it.

      Get away!!!
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, I purchased three 3 Pass tickets at a newsstand on one of the streets in the Vatican area. The saleswoman spoke in English and explained that there are bus tours at 18:00, 18:30, and the last one at 19:00. I explained to her that we would be able to arrive around the final round. When I asked how long the round would take to the station from which we boarded, she answered (in clear English) that the round is at 19:00 and ends around 21:00 and at the same point where we'll wait for the bus. We purchased the tickets from her around 5:00 p.m. Since the seller closes the store at 18:00, we will no longer be in the area to buy. That day at 18:50, we waited at the station after the bridge over the river from the Vatican area and remained until 19:05, when no bus passed, and we started to go back. Suddenly, the bus appeared, and we ran back to the station. When we got on, the woman on the bus explained that the bus only travels 2-3 stops and not a round trip! We explained to her what we were told. She took a picture of the ticket at 19:15 (that's when she took a picture and not that we got on the bus late; later, we claimed that it was the time we got on the bus "late"). She directed us to the store where we bought it to get a refund for the tickets since we didn't use the tickets and gave us information Erroneous! I asked the woman several times if we would get a refund, and she said of course because we didn't use the cards. We ran to the newsstand on Friday morning before leaving for the airport. We explained the matter to the saleswoman, suddenly, she didn't speak English at all and didn't want to try to understand us only after she realized we weren't going late. It was essential for us to understand what happened. She called someone from the bus company, and I explained to the woman from the company what happened and asked to speak to the seller again. At the end of the conversation, the seller shouted at us: "No! No!" The ticket back, she suddenly spoke in English and said it was hers, but agreed to return the tickets when I insisted and explained to her that I paid and did not get the money back. I wrote an email to the company, but they haven't responded or answered for over a week!

      Horrible experience
Worst hop -on hop-off tour that I have ever experienced. The audio was very poor quality and almost impossible to understand. It was difficult to get a good view of the sites we were passing. The bus was old and uncomfortable to ride in. It is not air conditioned and there was very little air flow. There were few buses available to hop onto and the schedule was confusing and ended early in the evening. A complete waste of time and money!

      Do not waste your money!
I paid for 8 tickets for the hop on and hop off bus in Rome. We were told the buses ran til 9pm. We literally rode the bus for 15 minutes then found out the buses stopped at 7:15pm. Total waste of money and worst service ever- company does not even have the courtesy to respond to my emails.

      Meeting Pope Francis
We had an excellent guide! He was fluent in a number of different languages. He had a great sense of humor and his timing was fabulous. We were able to see the Pope and hear him very well. Although there were thousands of people in the audience our guide helped us to great seats. From where he seated us we were able to get very good photos and videos. We would highly recommend this trip! ❤️

      Found best spot for pictures
Our guide placed us in the perfect spot for pictures of the pope. Relatively little commentary, and the audience tickets are free, but getting us through the crowded entrances to the right spot was worth the price.

      Choose Differently
We were specifically looking for another tour company, but were approached by a very charismatic young man to try the Greenline. Mistake. The buses are crowded, and do not come as often as promised. The bus tour does almost the same route as the others, but the audio is pointless. You spent 80% of the time listening to bad music... and the audio is not in sync with the route.. so some of the info is lost. They could have added so much more info about Rome rather than the bad music. In general, the stops are bad in Rome because major Roads do not go near landmarks, so you have to find your stop, and then wander in to find the landmark... if you are expecting a tour like in London, or Dublin - pass. Take a walking tour instead.

      Wonderful day
Cristina was an amazing guide. Let us feel very confortable like an old Italian friend that we haven't seen for a long time. Besides being extremely professional giving us all the information we were looking for.

      Use another company…….
Buses are infrequent and oversubscribed. When a bus does eventually arrive it is chaotic with the crowd jostling to board the bus and not everyone gets on. The staff are rude and abrupt - it’s a demeaning experience. We were eventually permitted to board the second bus to arrive at the Vatican stop yesterday, the first one was too full, only to be told it was heading to Termini, it’s final destination for the evening, with no stops in between. This was at 17:30. None of the 3 other tour bus companies to arrive at the Vatican stop last night had full buses or huge crowds waiting. Avoid the hassle and choose another provider.

I should have paid more attention to the observant TripAdvisor members who took the time to document what we ended up learning first hand! This was a weekend day trip with a party of three. We were on a business trip and thought this would be a good way to get out of Rome for a day. Our Italian business partners were shocked that we would attempt to visit Capri ("KAH-pree" - get it right, Anglo-speakers!) in one day.

We were picked up at our hotel at 0700, but didn't leave the Green Line Tour office until 0750 on our coach. Our tour guide spoke passable English, but also delivered her running commentary in (decent) Spanish and (very broken) French (we had fluent speakers in our group so we compared notes on her consistency across languages). The tour description is accurate - it' a 3 hour drive to the port of Naples. The coach stops at a hotel/restaurant a little more than halfway for a 20-30 minute rest stop. The parking area was packed with about 7 coaches, so I have to wonder what kind of business arrangement is in play here.

We arrived at the port of Naples at 1115 and then waited for the 1145 fast ferry to Capri. The boat is enclosed and there is not much to see. After debarking at the Grand Marina at 1220, we were told the mini-bus service to the top of the island (Anacapri) was very overcrowded and they were delaying our lunch service. So the optional island boat tour was next (extra charge, cash only). The water was choppy and side trip to Blue Grotto canceled, so we opted out and sat at a dockside cafe and enjoyed a relaxing hour watching the boat traffic. When the rest of our group returned at 1325 (boat tour reviews were lukewarm), we queued up for the limited number of mini-buses that endlessly shuttle tourists between Anacapri and the Grand Marina. We arrived at the top of the island at 1430 and were escorted to the "authentic trattoria" for a "traditional" lunch. It was mediocre fare at best and would have represented a EU 5,00-6,00 cafeteria meal anywhere in Italy. Primo was choice of penne in plain tomato sauce or rice with seafood. The pasta was generic, the rice had a strong fishy taste/smell. The second plate was a white fish filet with tomato sauce or sliced roast pork in sweet sauce, both with a small serving of salad. All beverages were extra. Very forgettable.

After lunch we had about 45 minutes to explore the touristic shops and take a few photos from the scenic overlook. Then we queued up again for the mini-bus ride down the mountain, barely made the 1735 fast ferry (a crushing mass of humanity squeezing onto the boat with no order), then literally ran to our coach in an effort to escape the madding crowds. We departed the port of Naples at 1830, stopped at another restaurant for 30 minutes around 2000, before entering Rome around 2200. The last hour of the trip was the most painful. After listening to an impassioned plea for tips, we proceeded to drop people off, hotel by hotel. We started up by the old airport (north of Vatican City) and worked out way south. Had they stopped at Termini (or the nearby Green Line Tour office), they could have dropped off 90% of the group and only then proceed to distribute the outlying folks.

We got back to our hotel at 2300, 16 grueling hours after this saga began. The next day our Italian business partners made us promise to allow them to make our next tour arrangements. That was an easy pledge to make.

Beautiful views!! The wait for the blue grotto was 2 hrs in peak season - so we opted for the hour boat ride around the island and saw cliffs up close, 3-4 other grottos up close (right up to the rock's edge!), drove the boat right through the famous arch, and we loved it!! Had to pay extra but so worth it! Then once in Anacapri, we rode the chairlift (also cost extra) to the top of the island!! SO gorgeous looking straight down the HIGH cliffs! Do this trip!

The tour guides were awful. They didn't speak English very well and they never told us what was happening. They were rude to the tour guests and arrogant. Lunch took an hour an a half and staff were inattentive. We kept having to ask for our food, our dessert and our water. I would have preferred to be given 4 hours to do what I wanted. We didn't get to go to the blue grotto, go on the sky rail, the beach or go to the peak of the island. Three of which we knew nothing about. The guides should have made us aware of the different options we had. They got us off the bus and let us go. No information just what time to be back. They walked so fast when we would go from one place to another leaving guests behind to figure out where they were. I would not recommend this tour company to anyone.

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Capri with Green Line tours. Our host/guide was Silvia, who from the get go, talked us through the itinerary for the day. She explained everything in 3+ languages, and her English was fab! On the journey to Naples, we had to make the decision whether we'd like to visit the Blue Grotto (weather permitting) which was €28pp (we opted for this, but were later refunded as the Blue Grotto was closed - went for the Island boat trip instead €18pp). The tour departed from Rome at around 8am, and we had a service station stop at around 10:15am. Along the way, Silvia pointed out key features.
Once we got to Naples port, we were met by our Capri tour guide, Pino, who had our ferry tickets on hand. Silvia explained that once we get to Capri, we should exit the boat and turn left and Pino told us to look out for his red umbrella. Once in Capri, we were split into English speaking and other and took a minibus up to Anacapri (this journey was paired with the most wonderful views). We were given 1hr free time in Anacapri - we opted for the chairlift (€11pp) which takes 13mins up and 13mins down.
We had lunch in Anacapri, which was ok. Arrabiata penne followed by pizza and chips (Vegetarian option). Drinks are not included.
After lunch, we headed back down to Capri, where we were split into groups that opted for the boat trip, and those that didnt got to wander around. I suggest going for the boat trip, which lasts around 1hr (get to see the green, white and blue grottos).
On our return journey we stopped at Cassino services station, where we got tasters of Limoncello, choc etc.
Green line Tours offer to pick you up via taxi from your hotel and on the return jouney the coach stops close by to your hotel.

we enjoyed this trip for the most part. The bus was comfortable. The guide was a little hard to understand when she was speaking in English but was very nice and personable. Once we got to Capri, we were passed off to a male guide however, he took off walking up the street without waiting to see if everyone was there. We just happened to see him and his red umbrella but had difficulty keeping up (and we are in shape, fast walkers) we enjoyed the lunch, rode the bus back down and enjoyed our free time. getting back on the ferry was a mess. People pushing and shoving (I seriously thought I was going to be trampled) Nice tour but the guide needs to stop and make sure that everyone is following. Also, if the first guide had given clear instructions about what to do when we got off the ferry, we would have known who to look for.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but from what I read before starting this trip I was expecting it to be similar if not worse than what other people had experienced. However, contrary to what these few recent people experienced I experienced the exact opposite! First off there are some things that must be stated if you are visiting Italy for the first time, and if this is your first tour with this company (as this was our first time and first tour with them):

    1. It is customary for people to walk across the marked streets without looking back, it is the expectation here that the cars should stop. I was shocked to find this practice common place when my wife and I first arrived here as we thought all these people were crazy for doing this (we are from Houston and doing such things is almost guaranteed to kill you). Without out the way, if you are following the tour guide along please note that , when he/she crosses the street, it is time to go!
    2. There is 1/2 tour guides for approximately 30 people. Knowing this ahead of time, give these people some slack. Most of these tour guides speak 3+ languages and are translating for multiple different people. We personally saw these guides try their best to answer all and every question people had, contrary to some reviews I read prior to going on this tour.
    3. When on the Capri you will most likely wait for a bus to pick up parts of the group to take you up to the island. The wait times vary, and you will have to stand outside while you wait on the bus. THERE IS ONLY ONE STREET ON THE ISLAND! Please understand this. This island's single street and is just bearly wide enough to fit two of these buses going opposite ways, so it will take so time for the buses to get back down to pick you up initially. Trust me you'll understand what I'm talking about, and you'll witness the care and time these drivers take when you board the bus for the first time!
    4. With our tour experience we had the option to take a chair lift up to the very top of the island once we were in Ana Capri, TAKE IT! You only get 1 hour of free time on the island and it takes 13min going up and 13min going down. The views at the top are worth the 11 Euros per person round trip they charge (they take card/cash for this).
    5. We are vegetarian and we we're glad that they had options for us to eat. To be honest the options for us weren't the best (tomato pasta with salad), but at least we had something to eat).
    6. Bring plenty of water! Water on the island is over priced, and don't bother ordering anything to drink in the restaurant (they cover the cost of your meal, but you pay separately for the drinks).
    7. If they offer you the option to take a 1 hour boat ride around the island, TAKE IT! You'll get beautiful up close views of the island, but it'll cost you 18 euros a person (they only take cash). The cost is worth it, and I have attached some of the pictures we got from this experience.
    8. Overall the staff were very friendly and cared about your experience on the trip!

Hi guys! We booked with Green line tour a day to Capri. The island is lovely, but if I'll go one more time, definetely I'll not use the same company. Here is a list with WHY NOT:
    -long time waiting in the sun for them to get organised;
-you'll be in a rush all the time; if you don't walk really fast, you'll be left behind. We had a couple with a child. The guide didn't pay any attention to them; she crossed the street fast between cars; expected us to do the same -this couple was always behind.
-the actual amount of time spend on the island:2 hours (free time to explore)
-she offered some informations (basic, nothing exciting; not a really interaction with us-a sort of boring geography lesson)
-she spoke two languages :spanish and english (the informations were less detailed in english comparing to spanish, as I understand both)
-she was chatting loudly with the driver italian; they we'll comment everything you're asking (really annoying-we paid for an english speaking guide)
-if you're not at a central hotel, you have to find your way back alone. we asked about a taxi station or to let us somewhere close to the hotel. Her answer was : I don't know were is your hotel (we had the road, adress, a gps map-she just wasn't bodered to have a look)
-at the end of the trip, I kindly said :Thank you! Bye!. Her answer was: In Italy we say 'Good night, not bye'
I've found her a bit rude, to be honest.

p.s. Capri is famous for Limoncell o( we bought from there but we found in supermarket ( in rome) the same drink produced on the island for half of that price)

Despite having 3 email confirmations about our hotel being centrally located and that we WOULD get a pickup, by 7:10 am when our ride had not arrived, we called to see where the ride was. Only then were we informed that we would not be getting a pick up- no explanation provided. We had to hustle butt to get a cab over to the meeting point, and when I asked the employee there why we had been abandoned, she simply said our hotel was not on the list despite us having received numerous confirmations. She also wanted to know who from their company had sent the emails after we showed them to her, at which time we explained that they only signed off as Greenline crew. She kept arguing and was rude. As if this wasn’t bad enough, our tour guide was absolutely horrible. We could barely understand what she was saying and kept repeating everything in three different languages. At one point, all we could hope for was that she would just be quiet because she just kept talking about nothing of importance or interest...mentioning many times how we would stop at “the coffee shop” with wonderful coffee and anything you need you can buy...the “coffee shop” is actually like what Americans would call a convenience store attached to a hotel. She also liked to talk about the toilets...not sure why. We learned more about this than any historical or noteable things. Capri itself was beautiful and fun, although I do wish we could have had more time here. Unfortunately, blue grotto was closed that day due to choppy waters. I understand these things aren’t the tours fault, but they don’t have any skills with groups. Overall trying to get into vans and get off the boat was very confusing. The tour guides did nothing to organize groups. Finally, at the end of the day (because we knew how important the toilets were) we took a few minutes to use the restroom at the pier before loading onto the bus. Our guide hadn’t even gotten off the boat yet, so we thought we had a few minutes. Well, she must have split to the bus the second she got off the boat...she left the meeting spot without doing a head count. Despite my hubby having knee surgery two months ago, and my sandal breaking- we had to run to the bus. Greenline is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. If we could give them a zero we would. Travel with them at your own risk! I have also told our travel agent about this.
