The worst guide for such a lovely place. I wish I could have gotten better info, his English& Spanish was terrible
This lovely place should have had a better tour guide. Our guide arrived late The group arrived there at 730-745am and our Guide got there at 7:55am and the Green line tours office never opened. The man from the Green line finally arrived at 8:20am to get us our bus.The most discouraging problem was our guide had to speak in 4 different languages and he didnt have a mastery of any language. The infohe gave was confusing and very basic

      Very average tour.
So much potential, so many issues. When visiting a new city, I love to see it by night on my first day so see it from a different perspective, enjoy the lights and do some scouting as to where I’ll spend my time the next couple of days. We booked this tour which departed on time from Roma Termini, although the indications are not super clear as to where to catch the bus. We headed to Eataly where we had about an hour to spend. Plan to either shop or eat but doing both is unrealistic based on time of day (most counters are closed) and time allowed. We then proceeded to the night tour. Could we view some sites at night and enjoy it? Absolutely. Is the bus comfortable? Decently although there was a “plastic” rooftop which did not give the full feel of being on a double-decker. Did we understand what we were looking at? Not at all. Most of the audio commentary did not match the route and we were told to “look at our right” but there was nothing to look at and it was confusing more than anything else. We got the 15euro deal from their site and therefore I was not that disappointed in the average experience but I have had much better experiences than this one.

      Beautiful Island of Capri
I had an amazing experience in Capri. The lunch was delicious and the service was great. I took the tram up to the restaurant and the view was amazing from higher up. The boat tour takes one hour from Naples to reach Capri and is very relaxing. The water color was like nothing I have ever seen before from dark blue to aqua blue to green. I took a boat cruise around the island and had a blast. This was a great tour on my last full day in Italy.

      Get away!!!
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, I purchased three 3 Pass tickets at a newsstand on one of the streets in the Vatican area. The saleswoman spoke in English and explained that there are bus tours at 18:00, 18:30, and the last one at 19:00. I explained to her that we would be able to arrive around the final round. When I asked how long the round would take to the station from which we boarded, she answered (in clear English) that the round is at 19:00 and ends around 21:00 and at the same point where we'll wait for the bus. We purchased the tickets from her around 5:00 p.m. Since the seller closes the store at 18:00, we will no longer be in the area to buy. That day at 18:50, we waited at the station after the bridge over the river from the Vatican area and remained until 19:05, when no bus passed, and we started to go back. Suddenly, the bus appeared, and we ran back to the station. When we got on, the woman on the bus explained that the bus only travels 2-3 stops and not a round trip! We explained to her what we were told. She took a picture of the ticket at 19:15 (that's when she took a picture and not that we got on the bus late; later, we claimed that it was the time we got on the bus "late"). She directed us to the store where we bought it to get a refund for the tickets since we didn't use the tickets and gave us information Erroneous! I asked the woman several times if we would get a refund, and she said of course because we didn't use the cards. We ran to the newsstand on Friday morning before leaving for the airport. We explained the matter to the saleswoman, suddenly, she didn't speak English at all and didn't want to try to understand us only after she realized we weren't going late. It was essential for us to understand what happened. She called someone from the bus company, and I explained to the woman from the company what happened and asked to speak to the seller again. At the end of the conversation, the seller shouted at us: "No! No!" The ticket back, she suddenly spoke in English and said it was hers, but agreed to return the tickets when I insisted and explained to her that I paid and did not get the money back. I wrote an email to the company, but they haven't responded or answered for over a week!

      Horrible experience
Worst hop -on hop-off tour that I have ever experienced. The audio was very poor quality and almost impossible to understand. It was difficult to get a good view of the sites we were passing. The bus was old and uncomfortable to ride in. It is not air conditioned and there was very little air flow. There were few buses available to hop onto and the schedule was confusing and ended early in the evening. A complete waste of time and money!

      Do not waste your money!
I paid for 8 tickets for the hop on and hop off bus in Rome. We were told the buses ran til 9pm. We literally rode the bus for 15 minutes then found out the buses stopped at 7:15pm. Total waste of money and worst service ever- company does not even have the courtesy to respond to my emails.

      Meeting Pope Francis
We had an excellent guide! He was fluent in a number of different languages. He had a great sense of humor and his timing was fabulous. We were able to see the Pope and hear him very well. Although there were thousands of people in the audience our guide helped us to great seats. From where he seated us we were able to get very good photos and videos. We would highly recommend this trip! ❤️

      Found best spot for pictures
Our guide placed us in the perfect spot for pictures of the pope. Relatively little commentary, and the audience tickets are free, but getting us through the crowded entrances to the right spot was worth the price.

      Choose Differently
We were specifically looking for another tour company, but were approached by a very charismatic young man to try the Greenline. Mistake. The buses are crowded, and do not come as often as promised. The bus tour does almost the same route as the others, but the audio is pointless. You spent 80% of the time listening to bad music... and the audio is not in sync with the route.. so some of the info is lost. They could have added so much more info about Rome rather than the bad music. In general, the stops are bad in Rome because major Roads do not go near landmarks, so you have to find your stop, and then wander in to find the landmark... if you are expecting a tour like in London, or Dublin - pass. Take a walking tour instead.

      Use another company…….
Buses are infrequent and oversubscribed. When a bus does eventually arrive it is chaotic with the crowd jostling to board the bus and not everyone gets on. The staff are rude and abrupt - it’s a demeaning experience. We were eventually permitted to board the second bus to arrive at the Vatican stop yesterday, the first one was too full, only to be told it was heading to Termini, it’s final destination for the evening, with no stops in between. This was at 17:30. None of the 3 other tour bus companies to arrive at the Vatican stop last night had full buses or huge crowds waiting. Avoid the hassle and choose another provider.

Terrible service. 45+ minute wait for bus at every bus stop. Buses over crowded - pushing & fighting to get on as queues so big due to long wait. Poor commentary. Headsets not working. Stressed out attendant and bus driver. Also, traffic in Rome at Gridlock. Too expensive. Too few buses. Oversell tickets -more tickets sold than places on buses. 3 of other hopon hop off buses arrived to 1 of Greenline Choose another company.

      Horrible Bus Service!
Green Line Tours provides horrible, unreliable bus service and will not refund dissatisfied customers. Their Representative referred to us in a racist and derogatory way and the Company ignore the complaint. Our fourteen tickets were purchased from Andre, Owner of the Gift Shop at Crowne Plaza St. Peter’s—he is also unreliable with his Shuttle Bus. He blew us off after we were stranded twice in one day by Green Line Tours. It appeared to be a SCAM.

Sadly, the bus was 2 hrs+ late. Was told there was a fire delaying drivers route. Either way it affected the trip. Was told we’d get free wine with lunch which true but didn’t compensate for missed time in Orvieto. When we arrived at this town we’re told we had 20 minutes. That was only enough time to see the church. I’m Assisi was given a two hr tour which was interesting but had less than .5 hr to spend on our own. So if one wants to really visit these towns this won’t work for you. On the flip side, the escorts were nice enough and while waiting met other interesting travelers that helped pass the time.

Dear Kind customer we are sorry for your disappoint regarding the few time spent in Orvieto , but as you have argumented , it has been due to the accident during the trip, and it is beyond our responsibility. Thank you for your feedback Kind regards GLT

The trip to Orvieto was on an uncomfortable and dirty coach. The tour guide was professional and very kind. We were required to stop at a cold out of the way restaurant to eat lunch. It was about an hour and a half too long. It was a waste of time and money. I would rather go to eat on my own in Assisi. The guide in Assisi was knowledgeable and friendly. The coach we rode in was uncomfortable and cramped. I am not trying to be critical but the guide had a family member with her on the trip and I was not opposed to that. She was very kind however she was a smoker and the smell was very strong and made me and my daughter very ill. It really affected me to the point that I was ill even after the trip. I’m sure she didn’t mean to have that affect on anyone. Some people are very sensitive to smells. Overall, I thought the trip could have been shorter with the lunch cut out.

I spent a magical week in Orvieto several years ago and wanted my husband to get a chance to see it. We both wanted to go to Assisi. So, while I don't often book tours (rather than organizing my own travel), I decided to book a Green Line tour to Orvieto and Assisi through viator. Big regrets. We blew through Orvieto in just one hour, which only allowed us to see the Cathedral. The Cathedral is magnificent... but so is the rest of the town and it's worth spending time in. After that, we spent 1 1/2 hours in the most horrible restaurant I've ever (not) eaten in. They rushed us through Orvieto so we could eat a pre-paid dinner (included in the cost of the trip) in a truly horrendous restaurant called L'Allegra Locanda. Note that although I had brought some apples and bread, they wouldn't let us eat on the bus. And, when I saw how bad the food was at the restaurant and asked if I could skip the meal (despite already paying for it as part of the trip), the tour guide said there was nowhere to walk to--and she was right. It was simply the worst restaurant I've ever been to in decades of traveling through 40 countries. The food looked bad. It smelled bad. I didn't eat any of the so-called appetizers, pasta, or horrific meat/potatoes dish but decided to try to nibble on the cake. The cake was so hard, I couldn't even get a fork into it (and it wasn't biscotti). My husband had some of the pasta and said it was cold and tasted like spaghetti-os. I watched as the waitresses collected plates with uneaten food from the people all around me. After the so-called lunch, I talked to several other women on the tour and everyone agreed. The meat in particular looked and smelled horrendous. We all agreed that instead of forcing people to go to a truly terrible restaurant, pre-paid, they should give everyone an extra hour and a half in Orvieto and then go directly from there to Assisi. People can buy their own lunch in Orvieto or pick up a snack in Assisi.
I'm sure the tour operators get a great deal on the worst restaurant ever and are glad they can advertise lunch as included in the price of the tour. But, it isn't worth it if such a terrible lunch ruins the trip.
Once we got to Assisi, there was a tour guide who was not very knowledgeable--most people wandered off from the guide. Assisi itself was beautiful and well worth seeing. But, I think most of us were quite hungry after being held captive at a restaurant with food so bad many of us were afraid to even try it.
We gave the main tour guide a decent tip because it wasn't her fault the tour included such a terrible restaurant and the Assisi guide was fairly useless. I just hope the tour operators get the message that they can't send people to an abysmal restaurant in the middle of nowhere and then advertise an included lunch.
I honestly can't remember a worse restaurant experience anywhere in the world ever. If Green Line tour operators read this... include more time in Orvieto. Skip the horrendous lunch. Find a better tour guide for Assisi (although that wasn't the main problem).
Italy is a magical place with great food. Don't ruin it for people. Please.

It was a great day with a very good guide. We loved both stops and they were both unique and we learned a lot. We walked through Assissi and saw places Francis once looked at. As well we visited where Clare prayed and studied and did such wonderful good works. Orvieto was beautiful and the idea of the homes on the lower plane and the businesses up on top of the rugged terrain was fascinating. The streets were so tight and our driver so confident. It was an excellent trip and a highlight for us.

It is a long day. We left Rome 7:30 A.M. and returned at 8:00 P.M. Our guide Elle was excellent. She spoke a number of languages. Our first stop was Orvieto. We had about an hour there. If you want to see the inside of the cathedral there is a 4 Euro ticket. You can avoid this charge going in the the side door "a culto", for worship. From there you can see most of the inside. I felt that it was worth the price and bought the tickets. There are many shops with beautiful items for sale. The ceramics were impressive, but they are pricey. However I don't know where you could find anything like them. From Orvieto we took the bus out to the country for lunch. It was a good lunch. Drinks are not included, but the prices are very reasonable. From there we went to Assisi. A local guide took over. We walked through town, visited two churches with copious commentary by the guide and the life of St. Francis. We also had free time to spend in the church or to explore the town. Before leaving we made one brief stop at the church of St Mary and the Angels. From there it was two hours back to Rome. There is a lot of walking, much of it going up and down. There was no restroom on the bus, but our guide made ample opportunity at the stops for people to use restrooms. Both the guide and driver were professional. If it is your desire to visit Assisi, I highly recommend this tour.

We booked an Assisi/Orvieto day trip from Rome on Viator, which ended up being through Green Line Tours. We loved both Assisi and Orvieto but were disappointed with several things about Green Line, including overall friendliness and service. Our hotel was slightly outside of the city center so we did not attempt to get hotel pick-up and took public transportation to the start of the tour at the Green Line office. It was not difficult to find using GPS on our phone but, after checking in there, we had to walk a couple of blocks to where the bus was waiting. Not a huge deal, but it would've been more convenient to just meet where the bus was. Our tour guide was not very friendly, and the tour was bilingual in Spanish and English. She did not give us a very good overview of what the day would look like. We went to Orvieto first, which was a great town. After Orvieto, we stopped at an agritourism site for lunch. Lunch was okay but nothing to write home about it. We wish we had spent more time in either of the towns and less time sitting at a random bed and breakfast site in the middle of nowhere. We really loved our local guide in Assisi (and were somewhat relieved to have a little time without the Green Line guide, to be honest). The worst part of the trip was arriving back in Rome. Before going to the Green Line office, we did the hotel drop-offs. This was miserable because we made many turns all throughout busy Rome. Eventually, my husband and I just jumped off the bus at a random hotel because we were so carsick and arrival at the Green Line office didn't seem to be close. We also heard from fellow travelers that the hotel pick-up was difficult to arrange and inconsistent. We'd recommend taking a day trip to these locations but with a different tour company.

The trip was interesting. My friend and I looked forward to this visit to Assisi. The time spent in Orvieto was okay, but we were very much rushed in Assisi. It was like one church after another there was hardly anytime to go around on our own or get some souvenirs. I think there was too much time spent on lunch, and because we had some mechanical al problem, the guide went very quickly in Assisi to get back to Rome on time.

Had a great time despite the rainy weather. Really enjoyed having an hour and a half in Orvieto to explore on my own. Wish the same opportunity had been available in Assisi as the town is beautiful. Our guide (Lena?) Is super sweet and attentive. It was a beautiful day trip and learning about Assisi and the many nuns and priests in learning. The guide was very informative and discussed the history behind father Assisi.
