Meet your guide and group at the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station in Berlin in time for your train’s departure. On the way to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, take in the scenery and listen to an orientation to the somber sights you are about to encounter.  Once you arrive, take off on a walking tour of the site. Your visit will be shaped by the sensitive and illuminating commentary from your guide, who will paint a picture of the daily lives of more than 200,000 people who spent time there.  Learn important background history of the site as you walk through the the Jewish Barrack, the execution grounds and crematorium, the Appellplatz parade ground, the punishment cells, camp hospital, Station Z, and the Pathology Laboratory. Set against the context of the larger Holocaust and the activities of the Third Reich, this tour will help you gain a wider understanding of the events of that time period. Return to Berlin via train, with plenty of time to ask questions of your guide on the way back.

    Great tour with Steve
I dud this tour as part of the Berlin Welcome Card . Steve was the tour guide , he was brilliant and very friendly and knowledgeable . I'm do glad I did the walking tour because I would have missed out on so much detail and being able to view little things.

Half day walking tour of Berlin
This half day walking tour of Berlin was fantastic. Jake, our guide, was very informative and showed us places we might well have missed. The group was just about the right size and overall, took about 3 hours including a lunch stop at a small cafe. I would thoroughly recommend this.

    Potsdam Palaces with Quincy
This was a fabulous walking tour. Quincy gave a great history lesson into Potsdam - it's royal history, palaces, gardens, influences, old, new, rebuilt, and East German architecture, and relation to Berlin and how it set the stage for the horrors of the 20th century. Highly recommended for any Berlin itinerary. There is so much to see and do in Berlin, and so much history, but with Potsdam so close this is a great addition and a great walk to boot.

    Amazing tour
Brendan is an amazing tour guide. Highly recommend if you want to receive interesting and captivating information about Berlin and its story. Worth every penny. It wasn’t too much so you would forget anything but also enough to enable to ask questions. Brendan is happy to give recommendations.

    Excellent walking tour
We very much enjoyed the tour of Berlin with Paul G. He was informative and shared a huge amount of information to the group while pitching the pace and tone perfectly. It is a long tour but you see and learn so much it goes so fast. Thank you. Would recommend!!

    Fabulous few hours!
So informative, so enjoyable! Just the right length of time, fitted a lot in but everything was extremely interesting. Definitely found out lots that we wouldn't have if we'd just wondered about on our own. Great value for money! Superb guide!

The tour guide made this experience so awful we wanted to walk away and leave the group to explore on our own. For such a sensitive subject to many, the guide was extremely desensitized to how it feels to see something so traumatic for the first time for many visiting. The guide also made me feel like a burden for asking questions and felt like we were inconveniencing him with his time. A very heavy day but terrible experience with this guide.

Dear Rin132213, Thank you for taking the time to write a review and fully detail your feelings. However, as Guide & Product Manager at Original Berlin Walks, I am sad and very troubled to read such a review. The guide scheduled for the date in question is an accredited guide from the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial and Museum site directly. In fact, all of our guides for this tour are. So you understand, to earn this accreditation, our guides must complete a multi-day educational training course at the site with a team of leading professors in the field. Guides must also present assigned topic presentations in front of these professors and their peers to achieve accreditation. Added to that, once this initial accreditation has been awarded, guides must continue to attend regular specialist topic training courses to deepen their knowledge of the topic further, or else they 'lose' their licence from the site. As you can tell, Original Berlin Walks working in partnership with the Sachsenhausen site, hold the highest standards of quality for this tour. The guide for the date in question is also one of our most experienced team members with several 5-star reviews with wonderful comments across several reviewing platforms. We asked our guide and he said his tour went extremely well. Additionally, for tour with the date you are referring to, via a guest on Airbnb, our guide got the following review "... was an exceptional guide, very knowledgeable, kind and sensitive to others on what can be an emotional tour. I would recommend without hesitation." Due to the winter season bookings, the group was on this date also rather small, in fact under 10 guests, so there was plenty of time to discuss and delve into the topic with questions. Looking at our reservations system, your nickname and initials do not seem to match to any of the customer names we have on file for the tour on this date. All things considered, I am rather surprised and saddened then by such comments and such a poor review. Could it indeed be that this review is intended for a very similarly named company operating in Berlin, which also offers Sachsenhausen tours? Despite all this, I hope you were still able to enjoy your trip to Berlin. Please feel free to be in touch with us directly, if you would like to discuss the issue further. Kind regards, Charlotte Hamling

Very informative tour that we really enjoyed. While the subject matter is heavy, to say the least, the tour was eye opening and captivating.

Ysanne was our tour guide and she was great. Her knowledge seemed endless. Her passion for history really shows and it kept us interested the entire tour. On the train ride back to Berlin, Ysanne was going up to each of us to see if we wanted any recommendations for the rest of our stays in Berlin. So nice! She was really great from start to finish!

Although the tour was lengthy (and cold- as we went in January!) we were captivated throughout. Highly recommend!

This was my husbands and mine first city break and our first tour and first concentration camp so I was a little apprehensive. I needn’t have been. Wouter was friendly and so, so knowledgeable. He didn’t just repeat facts he delivered the tour with emphatic knowledge
Great tour.
Wouter was great.

Wouter was a well-informed, thorough, and experienced guide. He made sure that everyone was able to get onto the train and get off at the correct stop. We walked to the concentration camp and was given a wonderful and informative tour of the camp. This was a highlight of my Berlin trip. I will recommend this to all of my friends!

A very poignant and interesting visit. We were a bit concerned the whole thing would be a bit depressing given the subject matter but our tour guide, Walid, made it incredibly interesting and informative, handling the darker details with respect and good sense of humour. I think this is an important tour for anyone interested in the history of the Second World War and Berlin's role in introducing the model for concentration camps.

My wife and I took the Sachsenhausen Camp tour this last Saturday with Steve as the guide. I can't say enough about how great Steve was, especially given the difficult subject at hand. A seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of the subject, with lots of other information about Berlin and Germany during WW II, as well as contemporary Berlin. I'd also like to add, the company customer service is extraordinary. They went beyond what could ever be expected to ensure we had a fine experience dealing with them - first rate organization.

Steve was our guide for the Sachsenhausen tour and it was a real pleasure to be in his group. He was incredibly informative, personable and fun to learn from. I had very little knowledge about Sachsenhausen beforehand but after the tour I was astounded by everything that went on there. I would definitely take another tour from Original Berlin Walks in the future!

I went to the right meeting point at the right time but nobody showd up. Later just received letter saying"sorry for the cancellation".
I was so much looking forward to this tour because maybe I won't be able to go to Berlin ever again. Can't explain how disappointed I am.

Hi, I am sorry but it seems like you posted your review to a wrong business. We do not sell any Sachsenhausen Ticket since March ( tour operators are not allowed there until August as well) . We did get 4 bookings from a Scandinavian travel agency that still sells tickets for Sachsenhausen and are not replying to our mails as well but these customers have been contacted by us directly and informed about their Tour 1-2 weeks prior to the Tour and confirmed as well

Excellent walking tour offered by Georgia Riungu that we attended in January. Obviously not an easy topic and the guide did the best to make sure all enjoyed the trip. Lots of walking included as to be expected but plenty of breaks were available if needed.
