From the start of your visit, dive into darkness and watch the stone walls come to life. Projections, screens, 3D maps, the images scroll in front of your eyes and the witnesses of the era will guide you from room to room to ensure you have an unforgettable experience. multimedia + tradition
Jul 2021
It's a combination of digital/multimedia presentation of the history (at a certain hour) and possibility to visit some traditional expositions. If you go up the stairs you can enjoy a panoramic view of Rouen.

An extremely interesting visit that tells the story of Jeanne d'Arc through videos in different rooms of the Palace. Takes roughly and hour and an half.

The museum is in an old building and the story of JEanne is told. There are a lot of special effects and also lots of places to sit. There is a lift if you cannot cope with winding staircases. There is a headset which allows you to listen to everything en English.

Great History of Joan of Arc
Mar 2020
I apparently didn't know nearly enough about St. Joan as I should! This was a great experience in the old Archbishop's Palace. You would think that the projections and the presentation would be a bit strange in such a historic site, but it worked well. Being a non-native to the area, it was wonderful to be able to hear everything in English. Well worth the price of admission to vist.

Absolutely wonderful
Aug 2019
We decided that, as we hadn't known about Joan of Arc's Rouen connection when we decided to stop there for the night, we should do our best to inform ourselves. We opassed this place as we walked into the Old Town, going towards the cathedral. When we got to the Joan of Arc church and found it disappointing, we decided to visit this place on the way back to our hotel.

Tickets available at the door. An area to wait in until the next tour/performance began. Headsets provided and adjusted.

We went down the stairs into the first room. There was a live guide there, to explain what was going to happen. After that, though, we were in the company of holographic images of what once was, and an authoritative voice in our ears.

Clever use of the setting as we moved from room to room, following the flow of Joan's story, with ample historical context provided by the holograms and the commentary. A fair few ups and downs of steps, some steep and narrow, but there were lifts available for most of these.

The final scenes were pretty harrowing, with torture and screams.

What I really liked about this museum was what came next. Recognising that what is made of Joan is always political, the museum provided several rooms of explanatory exhibits (no holograms, but still a taped commentary) of what various political factions have made of her story throughout the ages. History and historiography in one package.

A small collection of artistic renditions of the Maid rounded off a highly satisfactory and educational museum visit.

Worth It!
Sep 2019
We stumbled upon this museum, did it on a whim, and thoroughly enjoyed it! It is not just a museum but also a visual experience. We received headsets that were in English and were linked to videos throughout the museum which showed a dramatic portrayal of Jeanne d'Arc's trial with lots of history explained throughout. It was very informative and well put together! I would definitely recommend this!

Impressive storytelling through videos
This isn't your typical museum. You get a headset and move from room to room as videos play and walk you through Joan of Arc's life. It told from the perspective of her post death religious review. interesting informative and innovative. Everything is in English if that's all you got. It only takes an hour.

Informative & interesting
Jul 2019
The tour lasted about 1 hour and was very interesting. It's well put together and the 'English' headsets were just what we needed to help us understand Joan of Arc's life and story. Lots of images seen through films projected onto the walls. Well worth a visit. In Rouen, you can also walk to the place that she was burned at the stake.

Loved it!
Aug 2019
This was a really interesting and enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours in Rouen. The building itself is beautiful and worth a visit but the way they have re-told the story of Joan of Arc through visual media is fascinating and really brings it to life. The main experience takes around an hour and the way they display the images and story on the walls is really cool. I didn't mind being able to hear both the french audio (in the room) and then the English through the headset. As long as you have the headset on right you can hear your own language just fine. Well worth a visit!
