Wine Day Trip from Paris to Champagne
US$286.97
Overview
France’s famous bubbly comes from the Champagne wine region, a 90-minute drive from Paris. On this tour, learn what separates Champagne from sparkling wine as you tour three different wineries; visit a prestigious Champagne house like Moet & Chandon, Mumm, or Veuve Clicquot; enjoy a gourmet lunch; and sample a variety of fine Champagnes. Experience all this with an expert guide on-hand to teach you all about the winemaking process.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with pickup from your central Paris hotel. Aboard an air-conditioned minivan, drive around 90 minutes to the Champagne region. En route, enjoy pastries as your guide explains the difference between Champagne and sparkling wine, and details the region’s wine-making heritage.

The first stop is at one of France’s most prestigious Champagne houses—Moët & Chandon, Mumm, or Veuve Clicquot (depending on availability). Take a behind-the-scenes look at the world-famous winery on a guided cellar tour and discover the secrets of the méthode champenoise. Sample renowned Champagnes as you learn all about bubbly from your guide.

Continue through scenic vineyards to a family-run Champagne estate. Meet the winemaker, learn about the importance of terrior, and stroll around the vineyard filled with the different grapes used for Champagne making. Then feast on a gourmet lunch paired with fine Champagnes.

After lunch, stop at historic Hautvillers Abbey, where Benedictine monk Dom Perignon produced the very first sparkling wine over 300 years ago. Finally, visit the third winery of the day, where you taste some rare and exclusive Champagnes.

On return to Paris, your tour ends outside the Hôtel de Ville.

My wife is an avid champagne drinker, so this was an opportunity to get some brownie points. We were chauffeured along with three other couples to the champagne region to tour and sample some of France's most famous champagne makers. Lunch was provided at a...More

Champagne full-day tour

We highly recommend this full-day tour a couple hours outside of Paris. We did look into other packages, prices and companies online however Wine Passport ended up being great value with the small group of 4, hotel pickup, lunch (with champagne pairings) and tours/tastings at...More

Dissappointed

This tour really was not what I was expecting it to be. The tour began with a 6:55am pickup. The Mercedes van was clean and comfortable. We went around Paris until we had picked up all 8 passengers. The tour guide was a tad unprofessional...More

I was so excited about taking this day tour, I went in July and I had an absolutely great day. We were a small group of 7 people, our tour guide Clément was so attentive and passionate about wine and champagne, also very knowledgeable !...More

All about the Champagne

This was both instructional and enjoying. We visited 2 wineries and Reims Cathedral. If you are interested in a comprehensive visit to Reims Cathedral, you should do that separately, as a half hour was not enough for me.

I was dropped off a little after 6pm - it’s at a central location and much depends on Paris traffic

The particular one I was on, the champagne tour, only glanced the cathedral from afar. It is beautiful and I want to go back and see it- our tour guide recommended to look for tours that see both the cathedral and places... More

You could definitely take your kids but I agree apart from the caves there’s probably not heaps to hold their interest. That said there was time to explore Riems a little. Hope that helps.
