Overview
Few cities wear history on its sleeve like Dublin does! The Historical Walking Tour has been acclaimed as a must-do tour for any visitor to Dublin and starts at Trinity College main gates. It takes in the grounds of Trinity College, Old Irish Parliament, Dublin Castle, City Hall, the Medieval and Viking quarter centered around Christ Church Cathedral and finishes in the old port of Temple Bar on the banks of the River Liffey.

Since 1986 Historical Walking Tours of Dublin have been exploring the history of Ireland's capital city from Viking settlement to modern metropolis. Led by history graduates of Trinity College Dublin and UCD this walk is more than just a sightseeing tour but examines the main features of Irish history - the English conquest, the influences of the American and French Revolutions, the Great Famine, 1916 and the struggle for Independence and much more besides.
Highlights
  • Learn about Dublin’s past from a Trinity College history graduate
  • Gain free entry to some of the city’s top buildings and courtyards
  • Save time by leaving the navigation to a guide
  • Multiple departure times available to suit your schedule
What to Expect
Head to Trinity College to meet your guide, a graduate of the school’s history program. From there, you’ll set off on foot to explore the colorful history of Ireland’s national capital. As you stroll, hear from your guide about the city’s history and topics such as the Northern Ireland conflict, the influence of the American and French revolutions, the Potato Famine, and how Ireland is doing today. Tour highlights include the Trinity College grounds, the Temple Bar area, Dublin Castle, and the Parliament House. Get access to these places and others with your tour pass. Your adventure ends back at Trinity College, near other noteworthy attractions, including the Book of Kells, that you may want to explore on your own. Note: Dublin’s weather can be unpredictable, so consider bringing an umbrella.

Just booked the tour for April 2, 2020 and paid. But where is the meeting point ? The page says "college green", which is not a specific address. Another sentence suggests meeting at Trinity college, still not address. For a traveler from out of town how am I supposed to find

I've done a healthy amount of city tours when traveling, and this was just bad. Other than going and seeing some good sights, the actual tour was hard to decipher and understand. The guides accent was so strong that it was difficult to keep up. He also walked quickly and you

Ours is more than just a sight-seeing tour (although you seem to have found that aspect of it satisfactory) but a presentation of the main features of Irish history by experts in their field. This can be a bit challenging for some, which is why we encourage participants to interact with our guides, to ask Qs, & to seek clarification where needed. Unfortunately it sounds like you didn't avail of that facility. And sorry about our guide's accent. He can't help it. He's Irish!

Sylvie's tour was energetic and educational, where she took us around many different interesting places throughout Dublin. Of course, there is a lot to cover, but she did well in keeping us engaged throughout the tour despite the weather trying to ruin it for us!

Sylvia was underwhelming in her approach to her guided tour. Myself and my family expected to travel to significant historical locations within the city, with interesting explanations at each stop. This was not our experience. Sylvia’s explanations were lengthy (at times),

Thank you for taking the time to submit this detailed critique of Sylvie's tour, which contains some good advice, such as the need to provide a more explicit sequence with signposting & background information, & which I will pass on to her. However, I think you may have picked the wrong tour. Ours is not primarily a sight-seeing tour—although our route includes Trinity College, the Old Parliament, Temple Bar, Dublin Castle, City Hall & Christ Church Cathedral, amongst others—but an 'historical' tour, presented by published academics such as Sylvie. In addition, if other reviews are anything to go by, her presentational skills are excellent. 'Different strokes for different folks', as we say in Ireland.
