Having recently moved to Glasgow what better way to get to know my new home than with a private guided tour. Booked direct through their website, easy to navigate, simple booking procedure and great communication from Nick once the tour was booked, confirming all the details and then re-confirming a few days before the tour itself. Zhanna who was my tour guide for the day suggested a meeting location that was central, easy to get to and a great starting point for the tour. As for the tour itself, for a 5 hour walking tour time flew by, it was an easy walking pace but at the same time we covered so much ground. Zhanna was full of knowledge about the city, and it was great to be able to learn about the history of the city from architecture and effects of war, murals that are dotted all over the city, the cathedral and some of the churches and the history along the Clyde and ship building. Managed to fit in a great coffee stop along the route with an amazing desert to pick up the sugar levels too. Would highly recommend Glasgow Private Tours if you’re after a tour of the city, had always done group tours before in new places but honestly private tours are the way forward. You get so much more information, things can be tailored to you and not the masses, and it’s at your pace.
Thank you Nick and Zhanna for helping me get to know my new home

Zhanna was an excellent guide . We alway like to book a private tour so we can have more of a personal and informative experience.
She picked us up at our hotel and we walked the city neighborhoods . She was extremely knowledgeable & it was truly amazing how much she knew ! She had images and information for us of the old buildings as they were long ago and talked of architectural aspect of each of the buildings, history and people behind it. She explained the university history and showed us the murals relating to each building and talked of the artist.
We visited the Glasgow Cathedral, Necropolis cemetery which was amazing. We stopped in a cafe and had coffee and pastries and really enjoyed our time with her.
Unfortunately, I had had a past knee injury and was starting to feel pain, so we had to cut our tour sort a bit which made me sad to leave.
She is such a sweet kind person with a fabulous personality !
If you are in Glasgow you should take a tour with her , you will be VERY pleased!

This was the most amazing tour. Zhanna met us at our hotel, walked us all over the east end of the city, shared with us the amazing history of Glasgow AND she had a small binder with historic photos, stories and anecdotes. We sat and had a beverage, shared some stuff about ourselves and the whole experience was just delightful. The private experience and not having to travel with a large group of people made it feel intimate and less like a tourist. I highly recommend this tour. If you have 4 hours in Glasgow, book this tour.

From start to finish this tour was packed full of information, stories and things that blew my mind. Our guide was fantastic and gave us more for our money than we expected. I have lived in this great city for nearly 20 years and I learned more about it that day than I did living here for all these years. If you are from Glasgow, please try it out a great days fun and you will learn and see things you never knew of. All in all a fantastic service and one that I will spread the word of from this day forth.

I had only one day in Glasgow so I booked a tour to try to see as much as possible. I booked a 5 hour afternoon walking tour. Zhanna has lived in Glasgow for five years, but her knowledge of the town and history was unsurpassed. A truly professional tour guide who seems to love what she does. One of the most informative tours I have taken. Easy walking pace and just a fabulous guide. Anyone who can keep my interest for 5 hours is EXCEPTIONAL.

My husband and I took this tour and are really glad we did. Our guide took us through the history, architecture, social and cultural highlights of Glasgow, and we left feeling like we had a good flavor of the city. Having done our research in advance, we felt like the guide hit all the sites/highlights that we had hoped she would. Whether you have limited time in Glasgow, or if your just need a good overview at the beginning of your stay, I highly recommend this tour.

Our tour was with Zhanna, and we could not have been more pleased. We also made special arrangements with Nick at Glasgow Private Tours for transportation from our ship. The driver was waiting for us ship-side when we disembarked. He drove us to Glasgow mid-town where he introduced us to Zhanna. He confirmed with her what time we would finish and told us where to meet our driver for the return trip. We immediately developed a great rapport with Zhanna. It was like walking with a very knowledgeable teacher/friend. The tour lasted 5 hours and we saw a great deal of the city. She was kind to us 'older' folks and stopped to rest and talk on several occasions. She also treated us to tea along the way. When the title says 'private', that's exactly what it was. Just my wife and me! It was a most enjoyable tour and, in my opinion, a great value! Zhanna is extremely knowledgeable about her adopted city, and carried a bag of visual aids, etc. to enhance our tour. I highly recommend this tour.

We loved this tour. Johnny is friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining and we discovered that there's much more to Glasgow than we'd expected. My biggest advice to American tourists would be not to short-change it in a tour of Scotland. Oh, and a private message, reminder to Johnny: "Dos Ojos". He'll know what that means.

We are a family of 8 ages 6-72. Can the tour include places to run around or play, lunch, less historical and more fun/art/cool?

That may be possible. The tour guides are friendly and flexible. Probably best to contact them and ask. They are lovely family run business. Highly recommend!

Hi, We will be coming in from near Aberdeen on June 26 with a car and need parking for this tour. We are staying near the airport at the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport, which would no doubt have parking but may be too far away. Please advise. Thanks Heather

We are a party of 4 and will be in Scotland in October 2019! Would it be feasible to catch the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow do the 5.5 hour walking tour and catch the train back to Edinburgh? Thanks in advance!!
ArabianGlobeTrotters
Dubai, United Arab Emirates62 contributions
Absolutely - Edinburgh and Glasgow are only 45-75min apart by train (depending on which train you take, and there's one every 10-15min) and the tour guide can pick you straight from the train station in Glasgow, which is the best place to start seeing the city.

They were flexible, since it is a private tour. Our guide, Andrea, met us at our B&B at about 930, we walked to a train stop, headed into town and started the tour. It was an excellent experience, and we learned a lot.

Can't seem to find your question, however our guide was: prompt, very knowledgeable, well organized. She even arranged a stop for tea/ coffee which she paid for.
We were certainly not rushed and very satisfied.

I'm not the person responsible for this tour. We took the tour and were extremely satisfied. We were picked up at our hotel which was ver close to the train station. So can't see that being an issue. Good luck and enjoy.
