Loch Lomond, The Highlands and Doune Castle Day Trip from Edinburgh
From US$50.98
Overview
Make the most of your time in Scotland on this day tour from Edinburgh that visits many of the country's best sites. Explore Glasgow with a guide, who provides insight into its industrial past and hip present. You’ll see Loch Lomond, the famed movie location Doune Castle, and the charming village of Aberfoyle. Leave navigation to your guide, and enjoy hotel pickup and drop-off for a seamless trip.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with pickup from your Edinburgh hotel. Head to Glasgow, where you’ll learn how this one-time industrial heartland transformed itself into a cultural hub. Then visit Loch Lomond, whose shoreline is immortalized in song as "bonnie, bonnie banks." At the village of Balloch, opt for a scenic cruise on the lake (own expense).

Next, visit the charming village of Aberfoyle. With its lakes, valleys, and mountains, this area is often described as “Highlands in miniature." Enjoy lunch (own expense), browse the shops, and wander through its streets.

Your final stop is the 14th-century Doune Castle, a filming location for movies including “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and shows such as "Game of Thrones" and "Outlander." Take an audio tour (own expense) of the castle narrated by Monty Python's Terry Jones.

Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your hotel.

Nice trip with Gary and Graham

We had a great trip. We recomend you take the boat tour (9 pounds) and go in the castle (6 pounds). Beautiful sceneries and friendly guide in a comfortable bus/coach. The free dog&ducks show (and sheep presentation) during the lunch stop was real fun.

Weather started pretty dreary and wet but Duggie our Driver / Guide put a positive spin on everything , so we got to understand the term "liquid sunshine". There were a few obstacles in our way such as road diversions and slow motorists but Dougie...More
