      Great day trip
Excellent day! Our tour guide/bus driver Paul was an amazing story teller, made the trip on time to stop and take pictures in amazing spots. Everything worked perfectly. Also is a really complete day tour to have a little view of the highlands.

      Money well spent!
Had an absolutely fantastic 5-day tour around Scotland. There really is something for everyone on this tour- beautiful scenery, castles, boat tour, historic museums, cute towns to walk around in, delicious food, friendly people, whisky. Our tour guide, Dusty, really made our entire trip. He really knows the history of Scotland and is able to deliver it in a way that keeps you engaged- and laughing. I am so glad we chose to do this bus tour and I would 100% recommend it to anyone who asks. Our tour was the 3rd week in February, which we were nervous was going to be cold and yucky the whole time. We ended up really having only 1 full day of rain and wind and the rest of the week was pretty beautiful with occasional showers. All of our stops were quiet and not a single line for food/toilets/exhibits- which I hear is very different in the summer months. Highly, highly, highly recommend. And thanks Dusty for making an extra stop so we could see some wee highland coos before the tour ended!

Great day trip to Stirling Castle.
Outstanding tour! Really enjoyed Paul's friendly banter. We really enjoyed all the stories of Scottish history and how he pointed out different views of monuments such as The Kelpies. Paul let us on a walk up a hill for a good view of the lake as well.

An Impressive Day tour in Edinburgh
If you are looking for a relaxing time in countryside and old town, and want to have a close look at a historic castle, this tour is definitely your top choice. Our tour guide, Paul, has done an excellent job in introducing all the places with their stories. I highly recommend this tour to others.

      Great tour guide
Paul was an absolutely amazing tour guide. Great attitude and always had interesting historical facts. The activities were great and the food in the surrounding restaurants is better than in edinburgh itself.

      Amazing!
Amazing experience! Our guide, Dusty, was incredible. So full of knowledge and stories about Scotland and the landmarks / places we visited. Dusty was mindful of our experience and was able to cater around the weather, ensuring we saw everything and stayed warm and relatively dry. The tour felt all inclusive and allowed us to see the highlights, as well as some hidden gems of the Scottish Highlands. The tour was a combined experience with people booking through Haggis Adventures and Highland Adventures - this meant differing accomodations and amenities during our stay. Had we been aware we may have booked differently.

Great tour, great driver guide - Thanks Dusty!
Incredible 5-day tour through the highlands, with a perfect amount of time to see all the sites. We went in winter, which was great for the sites being less congested (although quite cold in some days). Dusty is a fantastic driver guide - Very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. If you are lucky enough to have him guide your tour, you’ll have a great time!

      Best bus tour around
Had a fantastic time, the views in the highlands were amazing. Dusty ,our driver/guide , was great. Always on time, funny & knowledgable. Layer up as the weather is constantly changing, you’ll need a solid rain jacket & highly recommend a good pair of boots.

Having never been on a coach trip style holiday before, my Mum and I weren't too sure what to expect. However, we had nothing to worry about! We had an amazing time with Highland Explorer Tours last week and would definitely go on this sort of trip again! Our tour group was lovely, with a real mix of ages and nationalities which was great too!

Our driver & tour guide Charlie was fantastic! Full of great stories and recommendations for every place we visited. He'd point out places to eat, drink and shop in every town we drove through which was super helpful! He was also incredibly knowledgeable and kept us entertained on and off the bus!

The tour covered a lot of distance and we really felt like we got to see lots of Scotland in a short space of time. There were plenty of photo stops along the way to take in the amazing views and feed the odd hairy coo too! The Jacobite Steam Train was fantastic - genuinely felt like we were going to Hogwarts! Ha! I also found Culloden Battlefield really interesting and loved the Loch Ness River Cruise. We were a bit disappointed that we didn't get to visit Armadale Castle or a Whisky Distillery and that the ferry to the Isle of Skye from Mallaig got cancelled, but completely understand that things can't always go to plan in COVID times! Good excuse for us to come back again! As an Outlander fan, I also enjoyed pretending to fall through the stones at the Clava Cairns and visiting the Highland Folk Museum which was used as a filming location!

The accommodation was great! Again, we were apprehensive not knowing where we'd be staying, but the B&B's were all lovely! The Guesthouse in Oban was particularly stunning! Felt like a swanky boutique hotel!

Overall we loved our time on this trip and would highly recommend Charlie and Highland Explorer Tours! We miss the Highlands already!

Hi Bella, first of all, thank you so much for taking the time to write such in-depth review! We love reading our passenger's stories and views on their experience with us, and yours is so heart-warming! We're pleased to hear that you felt in good hands with Charlie and that he could show you the best of our Bonnie Scotland during your 5-day tour. And remember: there is so much more to explore! We would love to have you and your Mum travelling with us again! Take care and hopefully see you again soon. Best wishes, Io

Great trip. Highlight was Inverness (very charming town) and the cruise of the Loch Ness (stunning landscape). We had a great tour guide/driver, Steve P, he was very funny, knowledgable, helpful and certainly knew how to keep the group engaged and interested.

The company offers 2 different accommodation packages, B&B or Hotel, I would certainly recommend the B&B one as they were of very good quality while the hotels weren’t worth the price difference (we ended up with 2 Hotel + 2 B&B nights).

Inverness has some great restaurants, however they all get booked up, so plan your dinners for Inverness in advance. We checked recommendations in Trip Advisor, then booked using Open Table, very easy.

As you can probably imagine, go prepared for all types of weather and to change during the day. Rain jacket and comfortable shoes are a must. Also have some spare room in your luggage for some nice little things to purchase along the way.

This 5-day Scottish Highlands tour was the highlight of our three-week visit to the British Isles! Our guide, Owen, provided great stories and really rich histories for the places we visited and the characters that inhabited these places. The tour was packed with interesting sites from the Jacobite train and Glen Coe, to the historic battlefield of Culloden and a cruise on Loch Ness. In addition to the history, a number of our stops were locations of tremendous natural beauty (throughout the Isle of Skye, Cairngorms National Park, the three sisters,...). Owen wove a thread of Scottish history throughout the five days' stops that progressed toward the Culloden historic battlefield, providing me a much more complete understanding of Scottish history than I had prior to the trip, and it's evident that he truly enjoys teaching others about the history of his home.

The itinerary was thoughtful and mixed historical, cultural, art, and natural wonder stops throughout the five days. I have been on a number of excellent guided informational tours before, and this tour was the best by far, with Owen's contribution making a huge difference. We stopped for lunch in a number of really nice small highland villages and had ample time to both sample the food and sights during these midday break. Owen also provided suggestions for making our independent time richer through suggestions on good restaurants, pubs, hikes, and music stops.

I absolutely will use Highland Explorer Tours again (hopefully we will be fortunate enough to get Owen as our guide) and will be returning to the highlands of Scotland.

We had a fabulous trip with our driver and guide, Charlie. He was full of interesting facts delivered with humour and interspersed with a brilliant playlist of Scottish traditional and popular music. Charlie made sure that we had plenty of stops along the way and always set out the itinerary for the day and gave us ideas for things to do and great places to eat. The whole tour ran smoothly thanks to Charlie's faultless organisation and planning.
I would recommend booking restaurants in advance as the best places get booked up quickly.
The views of Skye accompanied by Amazing Grace gave me goosebumps.
Everyone needs a Charlie for a driver (and a plate full of sgadan!)

An overall amazing experience! Our tour guide/driver Steve was an amazing ambassador for Scotland, and was friendly, helpful and informative all week long. As an American with limited experience driving on the left side of the road, I'm glad it was him taking on those often tiny Scottish byways and not me! I celebrated my 50th birthday while on the tour, and Steve and the rest of the tour staff made sure it was a truly special day. I learned a lot about Scotland and Scottish history, and the sites we visited all left a lasting impression. The Jacobite Steam Train alone would make this worthwhile for any Harry Potter fan. I wholeheartedly agree with @TrevorL504 that the mix of nationalities of the other passengers made the trip even better. All the accommodations were quiet and comfortable, and I particularly enjoyed the Barriemore in Oban. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the best of what Scotland has to offer, without the hassle of planning your own itinerary and having to do your own driving.

This coach tour is a superb way of seeing Scotland, without any worries re accommodation, or parking. We saw so many beautiful places, one of the first scenic places we stopped at was called 'Rest, and be Thankful', so we adopted that as our motto for the week. Andy, our very experienced driver, left this self-confessed nervous passenger, with no worries whatsoever; felt very safe and relaxed with his easy going manner and great driving. We were blessed with the lovely dry weather we enjoyed; not guaranteed of course, but Andy's dry jokes will make up for that!!! As he says, they don't have rain, they either have liquid sunshine, or atmospheric weather conditions.

Andy took great care of us throughout the week. He laid out his stall very well, so to speak, as regards time-keeping, and this was both appreciated and respected.

We saw more places than we expected to see, this was due to Andy's immense knowledge, and love for his native Scotland, and we enjoyed his lovely accent, and clear diction very much. He is a font of knowledge.

If you wish to see a lot of different, interesting, scenic, historic places in five days, then this tour comes very highly recommended indeed.

The 5 day highland tour led by Owen was a once in a lifetime experience that was full of beautiful sights and interesting history. Owen is very easy going and extremely knowledgeable about Scotland and the Highlands in general which made the tour that much more engaging. We even had an impromptu whisky tasting led by Owen which was fun and special. The weather can be unpredictable so I would recommend bringing layers. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone of all ages.

The tour, with its itinerary was great for exploring the Highlands and getting an impression of Scottland. However, it was our tourguide/busdriver/entertainer Louise who made the trip that extra bit special. She went out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable and have the best experience possible. Her positive energy caught on with our group, to keep the overall mood up during the five days.

We went on this tour 16th-20th Aug and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish!! Stephen P was our guide and we can’t thank him enough. He made everyone feel welcome. He had so much joy and energy, told many a great story about the history of places and just made the tour so interesting and worthwhile. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
We loved visiting all the places. Going on the ski lift at Glencoe was amazing! The Isle of Skye was beautiful, the Jacobite steam train was amazing and we loved the Loch Ness cruise! We were also very pleased with all of our accommodation!
We would highly recommend this tour! If we ever book another tour, we will request Stephen P to be our guide.
He truly was amazing! Thank you for everything.

We thoroughly enjoyed this 5 day tour. We travelled a lot of miles but saw and learned so much! Our driver/tour guide Dougie was so knowledgable about the history of everywhere we visited and went over and beyond to accommodate everyone’s requests. Added to that we had great international travelling companions (14) and really kind weather! Fabulous!
