- AshleyK1570 contributionsGreat taste of OxfordI had a lovely tour in the rain with Simon. He was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out the smaller details there’s no way I would have found. He’s a local, has spent a lot of time in and around Oxford, and very much made my day trip to this beautiful and historic town.Written 23 January 2024
- RosPenny0 contributionsSimon is awesomeSimon made this tour an excellent experience. He brought to life the gruesome tales in an engaging enthusiastic way despite having a cold. The extra snippets about Films were interesting. As dusk fell, it added an atmospheric experience. I’ll never walk down Magpie Lane at night!Written 28 September 2023

- I2390UXalexj0 contributionsScary, fascinating, very entertainingHad an excellent, fascinating and highly entertaining ghost tour with Simon in early February 2023. Learnt an incredible amount of things about Oxford's gruesome past, and Simon is a brilliant guide who is clearly so knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. Some of the stories aren't for the faint hearted, but if you're looking for a spooky delve into the past then you will learn a lot about this incredible city's history.Written 6 February 2023
- martinlU1137RT0 contributionsA really enjoyable Ghost WalkI did evening Ghost Tour with my 20 year daughter and it was fantastic. It was a lovely clear and cold night and Simon the guide took us to so many places that we either did know of, or didn't know of the stories behind the places. We covered about 4km, but it was al at a gentle pace with lots of stops to talk about history, facts and ghosts. We really enjoyed this and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.Written 15 January 2023
- 12ruchis0 contributionsWonderful guided Oxfords tourHad a wonderful guided tour with Simon today. He told us many significant historical stories about small details which a general person would not know on their own. We passed those places yesterday and didn’t realise they hold so much importance in the history. We saw few colleges and place where important figures like Stephen hawking, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis have been. We are grateful that he carved out time on Christmas Day today for this tour.Written 25 December 2022
- 731sharone0 contributionsA ghost tour to rememberWe participated in a night "ghost story tour" with Magnus as our guide. The tour was comprehensive and the stories were well presented as Magnus is not only knowledgeable but also the consummate actor. We were mostly adults aged >40 and the walk was not too challenging. My 18-year-old who joined us also enjoyed every moment.Written 5 October 2022
- helenaTM5612VF0 contributionsOk but where was the ghost tour.....Ghost tour We did the evening ghost tour. We enjoyed it but there were a few niggles. 1. Did it actually start at 6.30 or earlier ? Ticket said 6.30, we arrived at 6.25 but tour seemed to be already in full flow. 2. For a ghost tour, it was very light on ghosts and ghost stories. It was more of a literature tour. Interesting but not really what was advertised. 3. The tour only lasted 1 hr 15 minutes - it was a bit short for the cost of the tour. 4. A real plus was it did take us to places we hadn't seen on our earlier walking tour so we did enjoy that. Would we do again - probably not but maybe would be a different vibe on a dark night rather than in the middle of summer.Written 17 July 2022

- S7544OBemilya0 contributionsA must for Tolkien fansMyself and my parents took part in the J.R.R Tolkien and C.S Lewis Walking tour and it was a brilliant experience. We are massive Tolkien and Lord of the Rings fans so it was amazing to see locations from Tolkien's formative years. But even without those interests it was a great way to get an overview of Oxford and the colleges. Especially, as we had the opportunity to go into Exeter and University College. The latter of which is actually closed to the general public at the moment. Also Edward was a fantastic guide, informative, clear and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour.Written 30 October 2021

- JDB142270 contributionsExcellent value, interesting and a great way to explore. We did the ghost walk which was a lovely tour around the historic buildings and backstreets of Oxford at dusk. Good value as a combination of history and storytelling. A great way to orientate yourself ahead of leisurely site-seeing. Excellently presented by a knowledgable and approachable guide. We’d thoroughly recommend this. Thank you to our guide.Written 28 September 2021

We booked the 1.5 hour walking tour and was told we would visit Old Schools Quad and Divinity School and fees were in the price. We paid £13.95 each total £27.90. We did not visit any schools or university only walked around where we had been early that morning. Most disappointed and thought Stuart did give a lot of talk we had read it all in the Oxford Book bought for £5 . We went the next day to the Magdalen College fee was only £5 each well worth a visit. We were ripped off as we have a photo of the board and it told what was included in the ticket price. Don't expect we can get a refund but that was not worth the money. No excuse of the Crona Virus as looked it up on there Tours and was told they were open!!!

Very disappointed with this tour. The tour guide, I won't mention his name, I'm guessing was a Tory as he was telling us where Boris Johnson, Jacob rees-mogg and Dominic Cummings studied... I couldn't care less about them! He then made a rather inappropriate comment about Prince Andrew, I'm not an avid supporter, but the comment had no bearing on anything! Guide didn't speak up loudly, began talking before everyone was together and didn't position people safely so every 5mins someone would get run over by car or bicycle.
No social distancing in a group of 21, wanted to leave after 20 minutes but thought £14.95 was a lot to walk away from. Wasn't aware that we would have a timed entry to one of the colleges at the END of the tour so due to prior engagements I had to leave and missed the main part.

This tour was advertised as being able to 'Go INSIDE Colleges seen in Harry Potter & Morse, and the Bodleian Iibrary with all ENTRY FEES ncluded.'
We did none of the above! I appreciate this was possibly due to covid restrictions but feel this should have been explained before the tour or a refund of some sort given. Stuart the guide was good and informative the tour was interesting but obviously not what we had expected.

Attended a 1pm tour on Friday 24Sep with Simon and it didn't disappoint.
Oxford is beautiful and we got to see a lot of the college areas and find out lots of interesting details we wouldn't have known if we hadn't chosen to do a walking tour. This tour didnt involve to much walking either as Oxford is quite compact. We only got to go into one college Balliol (which is included in the price) as most were closed due to graduations but this didn't take away from the tour and it was also was nice to see the different ceremonial gowns walking around the city on the day.

Our tour and guide were excellent. However having gone to the trouble to book on line in advance, we are then surprised to find out there is a £5 reduction for two if you pay in the day. Not costly in itself but the principal is wrong! As CS Lewis would say it’s the little things that get remembered!

Highly recommend, I am a slow walker and was concerned, but the pace was just right for me. Started with history of Oxford and early days of students, then the guide covered Broad Street, Sheldonian, Clarendon, he led us towards Main Street, saw Colleges on the opposite side, Oriel, Merton, Exam School Building which is stunning, then turned back and finished at Bodleian Library where we were given tickets to go into Divinity School, due to Covid other areas of Bodleian were not accessible. Before the end of the tour, we were given tips of what to do after the trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and all questions the group members asked, he was able to answer. He also pointed out which colleges UK Prime Ministers have attended.

We came across Edward while walking around today and he asked if we wanted to join the walk 90 mins £15 each. So glad we did as he made it a very interesting walk and we found out history which we wouldn't have otherwise known, including a bit of Harry Potter info too on filming places. Well done Edward you made it a very interesting and you were very knowledgeable

I absolutely loved my walking tour of Oxford university with Simon. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about both the university and Oxford itself. It felt as though he made the tour very personalised, he started by asking what kind of feel we were expecting and tailored the tour towards our expectations. I feel the sweet spot has been hit with regards to how long the tour lasts and how much it costs, it has real value for money.

My tour with Simon was awesome and informative. I learned a great deal about the history and culture of the city and the University, as well as many interesting stories about people who once lived and are living here. Simon was engaging, insightful, and humorous. After the tour, I could easily find my way to the places around the city center without consulting the map while knowing a little of their histories. I feel very grateful that I had a 1.5-hour walk in the lovely spring season and highly recommend it. Thank you Simon!

Even though they're just starting up again following lockdown (COVID) 2020, and we couldn't go inside anywhere, this was a great tour today. Edward was excellent, so knowledgeable about all Collages & surroundings, he eally was a great walking tour guide. Highly recommend this walking tour & great value for money 👍 Thanks Edward, thoroughly enjoyed the 1.5 hours. Hils & Paul (Cardiff).

Yes you get access to a single college as part of the tour. We went to Essex college. Also, most colleges allow you to enter free of charge, I think especially during summer break.
