We rode the London Eye at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon on a recent trip to London, and could not have been more pleased with the experience.
One tip: if you can afford it, spend the extra 10 pounds to get a Fast Track ticket. The crowd was absolutely insane the day we went and the Fast Track ticket allowed us to completely bypass a line that had probably more than a 1,000 people in it waiting to get on.
Each capsule of the "Eye" holds 25-30 people, and you either sit or stand throughout the ride.
If you have any fear of heights, like I do, not to worry. The ride is extremely stable, and there is no rocking or swaying of the cars. Also, it moves VERY slowly--it takes nearly 30 minutes to do a full rotation. So you can barely perceive that you are getting higher except that things below gradually start looking smaller and smaller.
The views are out of this world and really give you a fantastic perspective of the River Thames and the whole layout of London around the river. The views of Parliament and Big Ben directly across the river from the Eye are particularly impressive.
This was one of the best things we did in London and I'm so glad we didn't skip it as too "touristy."

Really nice experience and fantastic views of London especially on a lovely clear day like it was today.
I thought the tickets were too expensive for this even standard tickets were about £36 each and the Fast-track tickets weren’t that more expensive which is what we bought.
£138 for tickets for 3 adults is excessive in my opinion.
I also thought that too many passengers are in a capsule at a time as it was hard to see all angles/views of the city as people were blocking the view due to the numbers of families inside. It would of been a much more pleasant attraction visit with less people.

We were staying in London for my birthday during the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations. So I booked the Jubilee Pub Pod. It was decorated out beautifully and only takes a maximum of 12 guests at any time. There is a bar set up and you get two drinks included. One of them is a “Royal Cocktail”. The staff are delightful. You get fast tracked to the one pod. There was only 10 guests booked on to our 2.00pm slot, so we had plenty of room to look at the fantastic views, look at the royal memorabilia, drink the drinks and take photos. We had a brilliant friendly crowd of guests on our slot. It is expensive at £65 per person, but definitely worth it for a special occasion. The Jubilee Pod is available every day until the 4th September 2022.

Horrendous experience - wouldn’t go again, paid well over 100GBP with fast track tickets to be crammed into a capsule with half of London and couldn’t really get to enjoy the experience at all or admire the views properly and the next capsule down had like 7 people. Doesn’t make sense - would recommend paying for fast track if you want to risk going cost me an extra 30GBP but avoided the horrendous queues. Last time I’m ever stepping foot on that thing again. Save your money, overrated attraction just admire it from the outside.

The London Eye was OK, but not as enjoyable as expected. For the significant cost, it should have loaded all the cabins, then made a couple of loops before unloading all the cabins - or similar to a ferris wheel. Simply making one very SLOW loop stopping all the way detracted considerably from the whole experience unfortunately.

We booked on the official website on the same day that we wanted to go as the weather was sunny and clear and opted for Fast Track tickets with flexibility of going at any time. This worked brilliantly as we did not want to be committed to a set time and when we arrived there was a queue. We were able to get on the ride in about 5 minutes and it meant we were not standing in a crowd for a while. The staff were friendly and efficient with excellent security with bags being scanned etc We also felt Covid safe and the pods were spacious with the ability to socially distance and numbers in the pod limited. The views were absolutely fantastic and show cased our brilliant capital city. You could see many iconic buildings and great photo opportunities. To make it more memorable it would have been great to have some information on what you could see,

In addition to what you will read below, I will add that going on a hot afternoon was like being in a sauna with everyone fighting for the air vent. Phew! We paid extra for the fast-track, but the regular line was moving so fast we probably didn't need to. Each capsule holds a lot of people, so as each one is loaded the line flies forward. It's a must-do, but only once....it was nice but not really worth paying that much money for a view you just saw down on the street.

We were booked on for an 11am ‘flight’. We arrived at The Eye in plenty of time and tried to find where we needed to queue. We asked several members of staff who just said ‘someone will set up a pink gazebo in a little while, queue there’. In the meantime lots of people were milling around the area in front of the Eye. There was no real queue system and when it was set up (10:55am) it was a free for all to enter the actual queue. Those of us who had been there since 10:45 were pushed out by newcomers. People who had bookings for 11:15 and later were getting on the Eye before those of us who had tickets for 11am. The staff at the Eye need to arrange their queuing system a lot earlier than just before 11am to stop a herd of people fighting to get in the queue.

Thanks for writing a review. I'm sorry you feel our queue system was disappointing. Our team try as hard as possible to have the queue set up before 11am which is when we officially open. We quite often have our queue set up earlier however, allowing guests to enter the queue before the timeslot on their ticket states they can.
I hope this did not deter too much from your actual ride!
Best wishes,
Helga

We bought ‘fast track’ tickets which we would highly recommend as the other queue was quite long on the wet day we visited.
The whole visit was excellent, and the staff were quickly efficient at cleaning each carriage between the departing and entering groups. There were not too many people in each carriage allowing everyone to move around and take photos from all angles.
It was a slight shame that it rained during our visit .. raindrops on all photos 😊 .. but a lovely way to see London on any day.
A great photo opportunity and experience. Highly recommended.

I bought tickets for 1pm. Only to learn later you can only join the massive queue at 1pm, what's that all about? I bought tickets for 1pm because I want to be on the Eye at 1pm, not an hour later thanks. So with time being of the essence I was forced to spent another £75 to upgrade, felt ripped off to be honest. It provides a good view of London, but too highly priced and crammed in with another 15 or so people meant you couldn't explore all the views anyway!

Dear Joanie
There is a website where you can buy fast track tickets, but TripAdvisor does not allow me to paste the link in a message. Please put "London Eye fast track tickets link" into your search browser and it should take you to the tickets you want.
I'm very cross with TripAdvisor about this. It's pointless not letting me help you. So sorry. Hope you can find it this way.
Kind regards

How long is the ride from entering the fast track line?

We waited about 5 minutes in the queue and then the ride lasts 30-40 minutes. Well worth it the views are just stunning. As long as you have good weather. When we did ours you couldn’t see one side as pouring with rain but when we went round to the other side it was sunny with lovely views.

I can’t tell you exactly, on the day we went it was very busy but still plenty of room in the Gondola,
I think from a safety point of view this is strictly managed
I’m guessing but there were probably no more than 25 people in the car - hope this helps
