Full-Day Walk to Freedom Tour in Cape Town Including Robben Island
From US$90.47
Overview
Discover South Africa’s complicated history on this guided, full-day ‘Walk to Freedom’ tour in Cape Town. A legacy of struggle brought the promise of reconstruction and development to this capital city. Learn about past injustices while visiting various neighborhoods and points of interest throughout the town.
What to Expect
To truly understand today’s South Africa, one must gain an understanding of the region’s past and its injustices. On this full-day bus tour, learn about past injustices and travel to various neighborhoods throughout the city.
Some of the points of interest include the colorful neighborhood of Bo-Kaap, a living cultural museum and site of the largest mosque in the Southern Hemisphere; District Six, a former inner-city neighborhood where more than 60,000 residents were forced to leave during the 1970s by the apartheid regime; and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for 18 years — it now serves as a symbol of the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.
A Cape Town hotel pickup and drop-off, plus any necessary entry fees and all transportation is included.

Quite a regret...

No communication about the pick-up. Must stretch to get hold of the tour company. Was told 7.30am and the pick-up is at 8.30am. District Six is closed on Sunday. Only found out when asking. Better to just buy Robben Island pass itself.

Walk to Freedom. Very Poor

This was supposed to be a full day trip. We were picked up at 8.30 and driven to a Township, which although interesting was quite short and finished with the usual visit to a 'Arts and Craft' site to entice us to buy goods. We...More
