About
At one point, there were so many pigs in Toronto that the city garnered the nickname "Hogtown", and its pork and bacon earned a reputation as some of the best in the world. On this 3-hour food tour, experience and sample the legendary deliciousness for yourself. Visit one of Toronto's best butcher shops to learn about quality pork and where it comes from. Learn about the history of domestic pig farming and the development of the pork industry in Canada. Your tour guide might even "ham it up" with some pig jokes ... if you're lucky.

Visit both sides of Hogtown
Oct 2019
Starting in the east at St Lawrence Market the majority of the tour occurred in the west of Toronto, with a streetcar used to get across the city. Jason was an excellent guide to both the food and the city with a detour down Graffiti Alley much appreciated. The highlight meal of the trip was the second sandwich - it is better than the “official” sandwich of Toronto.

Tour is now called "When Pigs Fry." Don't eat before you go. Great tour, great pork, and, at the last place on King (Wvrst), incredible beer. (And kangaroo, and crocodile!) But the real attraction is the knowledgeable guide, Sam. And for us who don't speak fluent Canadian, she speaks at a very reasonable pace. Pro tip: Make sure you're in a group with an odd number, and there's always a little extra pork for someone -- as long as Barry isn't along.

Interesting and Delicious
This is a great tour, not only do you get an idea of the history of Toronto but a sample of its delicious culinary past. Our guide, Tim, was great. Despite not being a local his knowledge if the city was vast. The food stops were wonderful and the information provided was helpful. Its a 3 hour tour but it doesn't feel like it, there is a bit of walking involved but its really worth it to get a taste of what the city has to offer. Each food stop is different but equally delicious and you can add drinks on top as you eat. Tim has a great knowledge of local beers and is worth seeking advice from if you aren't sure what to get.

Really enjoyed this tour, a great combination of urban exploring and tasty, delicious pork products. Had a couple of issues with the booking due IT systems but the guys did an amazing job of recovering the situation and in the end I effectively got a private tour. I liked one of the venues on the tour so much I went back the next day for dinner.

Delicious
I really enjoyed this tour. Although there was a fair amount of walking there was also a fair amount of pork tastings. Mike our guide was very knowledge about the Toronto area and we visited some lovely places to eat. We ended up in the St Lawrence market area where we hadn't been to before which was a shame really because we would have liked to have gone there again but were unfortunately going home the following day. Also, we were shown the grafitti area which we wouldnt have known about had we not been on the tour. The art work there is amazing. We were a family group of 5 from England and we were joined by two couples from America. It was nice meeting and talking to them and I think having a small group of 9 was more personal. All in all a good trip.

A tour worth taking
I liked so many things about this tour - it was more than I expected which was a nice change, and it was unusual and fun. My tour guide Tim was great - he was passionate about the history and food of Toronto and was happy to stop for photo opps whenever asked.
The tour started at the Markets, tasting the famous pea meal bacon sandwich and looking at the markets, then moved downtown to a fabulous Porchetta restaurant and a butcher that locally sources all produce. We detoured through an amazing graffiti lane and finished at Wurst - a sausage restaurant that caters for just about every type of meat you can think of! Great value, great guide - a highlight of my stay in Toronto. The tour company Urban Adventures is worth looking for!
