Xel-Ha is a natural lagoon on the Mexican Riviera, famous for its colorful marine life and turtle reserve. Get an underwater peek at its rich Caribbean scenery with this one-of-a-kind swimming and snorkeling excursion, combined with an enriching guided visit to the ruins of Tulum, a 12th-century Mayan trading port. You'll see much more in one day on this tour than most visitors do on their own.

What to Expect

Your tour will begin with flexible round-trip transportation options, with departures possible from either Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Traveling through stunning Yucatan scenery, your front-door pickup will take you by air-conditioned minivan to the ancient ruins of Tulum.

Get your camera ready to capture unforgettable views of the abandoned towers that make up this ancient cliffside trading port, rising from the sea above the old city walls. Your guide will point out the most important buildings and explain the significance of the stuccoed faces of the sixth-century Temple of the Masks and the stepped pyramid of El Castillo.

After you’ve explored the ancient, pre-Colombian civilization, you’ll turn to the natural splendor of the Mexican Riviera with a visit to Xel-Ha, a natural aquarium teeming with colorful plant and animal life. Explore cenotes (Maya swimming holes), strap on snorkeling gear to come face-to-face with tropical fish, or simply lounge in a beach chair as you admire the shimmering lagoon.

Don’t waste your time! The Tulum ruins aren’t worth seeing & Xel-Ha is like an amusement park with free food.
