Overview
Get a comprehensive tour of Grand Turk without riding in a stuffy tour bus on this excursion aboard an open-air tram. Over the course of a half-day, see the best historical, natural, and architectural sites the island has to offer, accompanied by a guide's insights. Visit the Grand Turk Lighthouse, Cockburn Town, and the natural salt ponds to get a full picture of the island's character.
Highlights
  • Guide provides in-depth commentary on Grand Turk's history and culture
  • Cover all the important sites on the island in a single tour
  • Open-air tram that allows passengers to enjoy the weather
  • Food and beverage samples from Cockburn Town vendors
What to Expect
Make your way to Grand Turk's tram station, located near the cruise terminal on the island's southern side. Hop aboard the open-sided tram for an around-the-island tour, traveling all the way to the northern tip and back, over the course of the next several hours. Listen as your guide provides commentary on the sights, including churches, inns, windmills, and antique cannons. You'll get glimpses of donkeys and wild horses on the way to Cockburn Town, where you can explore on your own. Back on the tram, proceed past the National Building and Her Majesty's Prison—great examples of colonial architecture—and then head for the Grand Turk Lighthouse on the island's northern tip. Pass the natural salt ponds, now acting as a nesting ground for the local flamingos, and learn about their importance in Grand Turk's history and economy. Your comprehensive tour ends back at the tram station.

We passed through Cockburn Town too fast to read the historic plaques that were by the historic homes there, and 20 minutes was not enough to go through the very interesting museum with details on the earliest Caribbean shipwreck (1515), diving and salvage, and salt processing.

The tour got off on the wrong foot in that the site double booked me and I am still trying to get a refund on the extra charges. Also, there did not seem to be set times for the trams to run which caused anxiety for some on our tour. Also, note that you must walk outside of

Thanks for your review; Our trams depart at 9:15 am then every 45 minutes throughout the day. As you checked in after the first tram departed, we did our very best to accommodate the snorkel portion of your booking. Unfortunately there was not enough time to complete before your ship sailed. We have refunded the snorkel portion of your tour.

Had an opportunity to view Grand Turk by open tram. Unfortunately there was not a lot to see as the economy and hurricanes have adversely impacted this island. The tram service was very nice and informative -- learned a lot. The driver, Tracey, was knowledgeable and even

Thanks for your review! We are glad that you enjoyed your tour with Tracey. Our little island home was ravaged by 2 major hurricanes in 2017. Our community is strong, we continue to work hard to get things back to normal. Hope to see you again on your next visit to Grand Turk.

I can't say enough about our tour guide Tracey. I was skeptical about the tour at first but Tracey's knowledge and humor and way with people quickly put us at ease. It was a very enjoyable experience. I would recommend Island Tram with the quickness and especially Tracey.
